Synthesis of submicron CaZrO<Subscript>3</Subscript> in combustion reactions

Submicron CaZrO₃ powder is obtained in combustion reactions (solution combustion synthesis—SCS) with glycine. It is found that SCS reduces the sintering temperature of CaZrO₃ powders. The dielectric properties of calcium zirconate ceramics are studied by the electrochemical impedance method. It is shown that a ceramics of powders obtained by the SCS method has high dielectric characteristics.

Sound field variations caused by intense internal waves in a shallow sea with a weak thermocline

Results of an experiment on investigating the fluctuations of a sound signal with a frequency of 295 Hz on a stationary 32-km-long acoustic path in a shallow sea are presented. Hydrological conditions on the path were characterized by the presence of a weak thermocline and a frequent occurrence of intense internal wave trains. The space-time characteristics of these internal waves were measured in detail. Experimental evidence of the repetition of the forms of internal solitons in the variations of the amplitude and phase of an acoustic signal was obtained.     

Calculation of the bond ionicity in complex oxides

A technique for calculating the bond ionicity of crystalline materials using electronegativities of elements and taking into account the structure of polyhedra of the complex-oxide structure is proposed.     

Radiative recombination of holes in delta-p-doped gallium arsenide

Photoluminescence spectra of δ-p-doped GaAs structures of different doping levels are studied experimentally. It is found that set of PL bands observed in δ-p-doped samples recently is regularly broadened with doping concentration increase due to appearance of additional low-energy bands and their subsequent red shift at higher doping levels. A red shift of the bands and a change of their relative intensities were caused also by excitation laser intensity decrease and/or temperature increase. These results confirm our previous assumption that the bands are due to radiative recombination of spatially separated photoelectrons with holes occupying size-quantization levels of δ-layer potential well.     

Euler decompositions for theta-series of even quadratic forms

For a generating Dirichlet vector series with coefficients equal to the number of representations of a quadratic form by another one we abtain a decomposition into the product of a finite number of Dirichlet L-functions and an infinite number of matrix polynomials. The coefficients of the polynomials are the Eichler-Brandt matrices of the basis double cosets of the local orthogonal Hecke rings. Influence of the domain structure on the permeability of planar hexaferrites in the natural ferrimagnetic resonance region

A calculation is presented of the permeability of hexaferrites with an easy magnetization plane in the region of natural ferrimagnetic resonance and in the presence of a domain structure. It is shown that the domain structure strongly influences both the magnitude of the permeability and the natural ferrimagnetic resonance frequency. The expressions obtained are compared with the results of calculations of the natural ferrimagnetic resonance spectra of single-domain planar hexaferrites. State University, Tomsk. Synthesis in the 2-mercaptobenzothiazole series

The reduction of some dihydrothiazolobenzothiazolium salts with sodium borohydride may take place in two directions: with the formation of thiazolidino[2, 3-b]benzathiazolines and with the cleavage of the C-S bond to give N-(-mercaptoethyl)benzothiazolines. The behavior of thiazolidino[2, 3-b]benzothiazoline under the conditions of acid and alkaline hydrolysis has been studied.For communication VI, see [1].     

Syntheses in the phenothiazine series
