Asymmetric nitrogen

The¹H NMR spectra ofO-derivatives of 1-hydroxy-2,2-bis(trifluoromethyl)aziridine containing such substituents as EtO₂CCH₂, (R/S)-RO₂CCH(Me) (R=Me, Prⁱ, or Bu^t), (R/S)-H₂NC(O)CH(Me), and (R)-H₂NC(O)CH(Me) were analyzed. Both of the diastereomerically pure amides of the latter type were isolated. The validity of the¹H NMR criteria, which were suggested for the determination of absolute configurations of diastereomers ofN-alkoxyaziridines, was confirmed by X-ray diffraction study of the (R,R)-amide.     

Effect of Transition Metal Diketonates on Oxidation of Sunflower-Seed Oil

Effect of transition metal (Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn) diketonates on oxidation of sunflower-seed oil with atmospheric oxygen was studied.     

Unsaturated esters of N-(β-hydroxyethyl) lactams

A general method is developed for synthesizing methacrylic esters with a 5-, 6-, or 7-membered lactam ring to the carboxyl group, by reacting the sodio-derivatives of the lactams with -chloroethyl methacrylate. The esters synthesized are prone to thermal polymerization, and able to copolymerize with other monomers in the presence of azodiisobutyronitrile. The following copolymers are prepared; -(N-pyrrolidonyl) ethyl acrylate with methyl acrylate, -(N-pyrrolidonyl) ethyl, -(N-2-oxotetramethyleneimino) ethyl, and -(N-2-oxopentamethyleneimino) ethyl methacrylates withmethyl methacrylate.     

Mechanisms of nuclear reactions at interaction of cosmic rays with materials and nanostructures

The mechanism of failures of microelectronic elements, caused by ionization of atoms by recoil nuclei and secondary fragments formed at nuclear interactions of cosmic-ray protons and light ions with substance, has been analyzed. Models of nuclear physics are used to calculate the macroscopic failure cross section.     

αγ angular correlations in the inelastic scattering of α particles on 24Mg at Eα = 30.3 MeV

The results from measuring the angular dependence of differential α-scattering cross sections on ²⁴Mg with final nucleus formation in the ground and three lower excited states are presented, along with the double differential ²⁴Mg(α, αγ)²⁴Mg(2⁺, 1.369 MeV) reaction cross sections at E _α = 30.3 MeV. The spin-tensor components of the density matrix of the ²⁴Mg nucleus in the 2⁺(1.369 MeV) state are reconstructed and its orientation characteristics are determined. The experimental results are compared to theoretical results under the assumption of collective excitation and mechanisms for compound nucleus formation.     

Amplification of holographic gratings in photorefractive crystals

In this work, we have theoretically and experimentally investigated the process of image amplification in photorefractive crystals as a result of the self-diffraction phenomenon. We have found that the amplification process is of the threshold type and is observed only for an angle of convergence of the light rays greater than a threshold value. The gain coefficient is rather high. For the LiNbO₃ crystal, at a wavelength of 0.63 µm the gain coefficient reached 15 dB; at a wavelength of 0.44 µm, the gain was greater than 50 dB.Tomsk State Academy for Control Systems and Radioelectronics. 1,4-Dioxanes as products of the oxidation of N-vinyllactams

2, 5-Disubstituted 1,4-dioxanes have been obtained by the oxidation of N-vinyllactams, represented by N-vinylpyrrolidone, N-vinylpiperidone, and N-vinylcaprolactam, and their structure has been shown by independent synthesis: the reaction of trans-2, 5-dichloro-1,4-dioxanes with alkali-metal salts of the lactams also gave 2,5-di(N-2-oxopolymethyleneimino)-1,4-dioxanes.
