Diallyl quaternary ammonium chlorides, bromides and N-alkyldiallylamine hydrochlorides were polymerized with ammonium persulfate (APS) in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). The dependences of yield and molecular weight of polymers on polymerization conditions were examined and quaternary ammonium chlorides were found to have better polymerizability than bromides. The poly(diallyl quaternary ammonium chlorides) obtained with APS—DMSO system are expected to have quite high molecular weights, as determined from the measurement of limiting viscosity numbers of the polymers in NaCl aqueous solution.  相似文献

A NKT cell repertoire is characterized by the expression of the Valpha19-Jalpha26 invariant TCR alpha chain (Valpha19 NKT cell). This repertoire, as well as a well-established Valpha14-Jalpha281 invariant TCR alpha(+) NKT cell subset (Valpha14 NKT cell), has been suggested to have important roles in the regulation of the immune system and, thus, is a major therapeutic target. Here, we attempted to find specific antigens for Valpha19 NKT cells. Valpha19 as well as Valpha14 NKT cells exhibited reactivity to alpha-galactosyl ceramide (alpha-GalCer). Thus, a series of monoglycosyl ceramides with an axially oriented glycosidic linkage between the sugar and ceramide moiety were synthesized and their antigenicity to Valpha19 NKT cells was determined by measuring their immune responses in culture with glycolipids. Comprehensive examinations revealed substantial antigenic activity for Valpha19 NKT cells by alpha-mannosyl ceramide.  相似文献

This paper describes the synthesis of 1,1-linked galactosyl mannosides as sialyl Lewis X mimetics that contain a spiro-ring to position the carboxylate group in a well-defined orientation. It was found that compound 4 is more active as a P-selectin inhibitor (IC50 = 19 microM) than the parent disaccharide 2, which contains a flexible carboxyl group (IC50 = 193 microM). This result is consistent with that observed in the previous NMR study of sialyl Lewis X bound to P-selectin. The chemistry described here should be useful for the development of selective inhibitors of E-, P-, and L-selectins.  相似文献

The structure and crystallization of carefully isolated sub-elementary fibrils (SEFs) of bacterial cellulose have been investigated using TEM, WAXD, and high-resolution solid-state 13C NMR. The addition of a suitable amount of fluorescent brightener (FB) to the incubation medium of Acetobacter xylinum effectively suppressed the aggregation of the SEFs into the microfibrils, as previously reported. However, this study confirmed for the first time that serious structural change in the SEFs occurs during the removal of excess FB by washing with buffer solutions having pH values higher than 6 or with the alkaline aqueous solution that was frequently used in previous studies. In contrast, the isolation of unmodified SEFs was successfully performed by utilizing a washing protocol employing pH 7 citrate–phosphate buffer solution containing 1% sodium dodecyl sulfate. High-resolution solid-state 13C NMR and WAXD measurements revealed that the SEFs thus isolated are in the noncrystalline state in which the pyranose rings of the almost parallel cellulose chains appear to be stacked on each other. The respective CH2OH groups of the SEFs adopt the gt conformation instead of the tg conformation found in cellulose I α and I β crystals, and undergo significantly enhanced molecular motion in the absence of intermolecular hydrogen bonding associated with these groups. The main chains are also subject to rapid motional fluctuations while maintaining the parallel orientation of the respective chains, indicating that the SEFs have a liquid crystal-like structure with high molecular mobility. Moreover, the SEFs crystallize into cellulose I β when the FB molecules that may adhere to the surface of the SEFs are removed by extraction with boiling 70 v/v% ethanol and 0.1N NaOH aqueous solution. On the basis of these results, the crystallization of the SEFs into the I α and I β forms is discussed, including the possible formation of the crystalline-noncrystalline periodic structure in native cellulose.  相似文献

The optical properties of two kinds of photochromic antiferroelectric liquid crystal (AFLC) containing an azo group have been examined. Depending on the substituting group at the chiral centre, these AFLCs showed different photoinduced phase transitions by Ar+ laser light irradiation. This phase transition has led to a new form of optical switching controlled by a bias voltage. In addition, it was found that these AFLCs caused an azimuthal photoalignment effect regulated by linearly polarized Ar+ laser light irradiation. To make the write-field much stronger with sharper cross-track field gradient in Shingled perpendicular Magnetic Recording (SMR), we have successfully developed asymmetric SMR heads with one-side shield design. TiO2-coated activated carbon (TiO2/AC) composites and pure TiO2 powders were prepared by a sol-gel method using tetrabutylorthotitanate as a precursor. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential thermal analysis (DTA), X-ray photoelectron spectrum (XPS) and nitrogen absorption. The photoactivity of samples was evaluated by methylene blue (MB) degradation. The analysis results show that compared with pure TiO2 powders, the spherical-shaped TiO2 particles are well-dispersed in the AC matrix and the size of the resulting TiO2 crystallites decreases to below 40 nm with increasing phase transformation temperature. The AC matrix creates anti-calcination effects and shows interfacial energy effects that control the growth of the TiO2 particles, baffle the anatase to rutile phase transition, and cumber the TiO2 particles to agglomerate. Compared with the surface areas of TiO2 powders, the combination of TiO2 and AC forms composites with high surface areas which are slightly affected by calcination temperature. By AC support, the photoactivity of TiO2 is increased in MB photocatalytic course, possible because active carbon increases photocatalytic activity of TiO2 particles by producing high concentration of organic compound near TiO2, and small-size TiO2 particles are well-dispersed on the surface of AC.  相似文献

We examined the utility of a monolithic capillary column in the analysis of pyridylaminated oligosaccharides. Fluorescence detection and mass spectrometry were used to monitor a series of oligosaccharides. Although the total-ion chromatogram appeared similar to that obtained with fluorescence detection, the sensitivity of this technique was limited, especially in the case of smaller oligosaccharides. This limitation was overcome by applying selected ion current monitoring. Further, the capillary column also exhibited good reproducibility. We showed that the retention times obtained by using the monolithic capillary column could be converted into the standard data to enable comparison of the experimental data with the existing data. Furthermore, our studies revealed an important difference in the separation profile, i.e., the monolithic capillary column could resolve smaller oligosaccharides to a greater extent.  相似文献

A new simplified structural model and its governing equations for beams on elastic foundations with elastic coupling are proposed. This modeling system is simple but appropriate for the initial structural design of large-scale submerged floating-beam structures moored by tension legs spaced at uniform interval along the beam. The model is actually for beam on discrete elastic supports rather than on continuous elastic foundations. Therefore, the governing equations are based on finite difference calculus and solutions for beams on discrete elastic supports with elasticity coupling are also proposed. To clarify the applicability limit of the proposed model, the equivalence between a beam on discrete elastic supports and that on continuous elastic foundation is investigated by comparisons of characteristic solutions.  相似文献
