An undulator or a wiggler with a strong magnetic field will play an important role in future synchrotron light sources, free electron lasers, and linear colliders. We proposed the bulk high critical temperature superconductor staggered array undulator (Bulk HTSC SAU) in order to generate a strong periodic field. The Bulk HTSC SAU consists of stacked bulk high-Tc superconductors (HTSs) and a solenoid magnet which is used to magnetize the bulk HTSs. A periodic magnetic field was produced and controlled using a prototype of the Bulk HTSC SAU using 11 pairs of REBaCuO bulk HTSs at 77 K. The expected performance at low temperatures around 20 K is calculated using a loop current model.  相似文献

This paper formulates a random-growth urban model with a notion of geographical fitness. Using techniques of complex-network theory, we study our system as a type of preferential-attachment model with fitness, and we analyze its macro behavior to clarify the properties of the city-size distributions it predicts. First, restricting the geographical fitness to take positive values and using a continuum approach, we show that the city-size distributions predicted by our model asymptotically approach Pareto distributions with coefficients greater than unity. Then, allowing the geographical fitness to take negative values, we perform local coefficient analysis to show that the predicted city-size distributions can deviate from Pareto distributions, as is often observed in actual city-size distributions. As a result, the model we propose can generate a generic class of city-size distributions, including but not limited to Pareto distributions. For applications to city-population projections, our simple model requires randomness only when new cities are created, not during their subsequent growth. This property leads to smooth trajectories of city population growth, in contrast to other models using Gibrat’s law. In addition, a discrete form of our dynamical equations can be used to estimate past city populations based on present-day data; this fact allows quantitative assessment of the performance of our model. Further study is needed to determine appropriate formulas for the geographical fitness.  相似文献

Salt dissociation conditions and dynamic properties of ionic species in liquid crystal electrolytes of lithium were investigated by a combination of NMR spectra and diffusion coefficient estimations using the pulsed gradient spin-echo NMR techniques. Activation energies of diffusion (Ea) of ionic species changed with the phase transition of the electrolyte. That is, Ea of the nematic phase was lower than that of the isotropic phase. This indicates that the aligned liquid crystal molecules prepared efficient conduction pathways for migration of ionic species. The dissociation degree of the salt was lower compared with those of the conventional electrolyte solutions and polymer gel electrolytes. This is attributed to the low concentration of polar sites, which attract the dissolved salt and promote salt dissociation, on the liquid crystal molecules. Furthermore, motional restriction of the molecules due to high viscosity and molecular oriented configuration in the nematic phase caused inefficient attraction of the sites for the salt. With a decreased dissolved salt concentration of the liquid crystal electrolyte, salt dissociation proceeded, and two diffusion components attributed to the ion and ion pair were detected independently. This means that the exchange rate between the ion and the ion pair is fairly slow once the salt is dissociated in the liquid crystal electrolytes due to the low motility of the medium molecules that initiate salt dissociation.  相似文献

We have developed a bio/chemiluminescence spectrometer with a cooled charge-coupled-device (CCD) detector to obtain a quantitative luminescence spectrum as the absolute number of all emitted photons at each wavelength. The integrated area of the spectrum divided by the number of reacted substrate molecules gives the quantum yield. Calibration of the absolute sensitivity of the CCD-spectrometer system was performed by using lasers and a tungsten lamp with calibrated powers as primary light standards, and calibration of the light-collection efficiency of the spectrometer with several kinds of cells for liquid samples was achieved by introducing a simple reference double-plate cell. The reference cell is not convenient for final bio/chemiluminescence measurements but is useful for the calibration because it has well-defined angular dependence of light emission, allowing accurate calculation of the light-collection efficiency. Using this CCD-spectrometer system, we re-examined the quantum yield of aqueous luminol chemiluminescence with H2O2 catalyzed by horseradish peroxidase. The quantum yield was constant for a wide range of luminol concentrations, whereas it changed and had an optimum against H2O2 concentrations. The optimum quantum yield was 1.23(+/-0.20)%, which is in good agreement with previously reported values.  相似文献
