A reconfigurable wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) add/drop multiplexer (WADM) is constructed using optical switches (OSWS) and fibre Bragg gratings (FBGs). Selected one or two channel(s) can be added/dropped at the same multiplexer by properly controlling the optical switch pair and fibre Bragg grating arrangement. Afour-channel system is experimentally demonstrated for a data rate of 2.5 Gb s–1 and a single-mode fibre (SMF) distance of 100km. A negligible maximum power penalty of only 0.3dB is observed when compared with back-to-back transmission.  相似文献

A tapered fiber with a depressed-index outer ring is fabricated and dispersion engineered to generate a widely tunable (1250-1650 nm) fundamental-mode leakage loss with a high cutoff slope (-1.2 dB/nm) and a high attenuation for stop band (>50 dB) by modification of both waveguide and material dispersions. The higher cutoff slope is achieved with a larger cross angle between the two refractive index dispersion curves of the tapered fiber and surrounding optical liquids through the use of depressed-index outer ring structures in double-cladding fibers.  相似文献

Er3+ clustering phenomenon in Ga–Ge–S chalcogenide system is studied using Raman spectroscopy. The Raman spectra from 10 to 500 cm−1 for glasses (100−y)[15Ga2S3–85GeS2]–yEr2S3 (y=0.08−5.00 mol. %) have been analyzed. To reveal the influence of the chemical composition on the glass structure the intensity of the peak corresponding to Ge–Ge (Ga–Ga) homopolar bonds has been examined. The peak intensity increase with Er2S3 concentration change in the region 0<C(Er2S3)<2 mol. % has been interpreted in terms of the sulphur deficiency in the glass resulting in the formation of S3Ge–GeS3 (S3Ga-GaS3) structural units. The further increase in concentration beyond 2 mol. % reduces the sulphur deficiency, which can be attributed to the formation of the ternary compound Er3GaS6. The structural units Er3GaS6 contain a large mol. fraction of Er3+ or, in other words, Er3+ clusters. The data obtained from the low-frequency Raman spectra (boson band) indicate strong variations of the medium-range order (MRO) in the glasses induced by Er3+. The observed behavior of the MRO size (the correlation length) with increasing of Er2S3 concentration provides for additional evidence of the Er3+ clustering.  相似文献

Polarization control is used in a tri-directional wavelength-reused system to reduce the power penalty caused by coherent mixing of the signal with Rayleigh backscattering noise. For a 25 + 25 km, 10 Gb/s tri-directional transmission system, the power penalty is 4.0 dB under the worst polarization control and could be reduced to 0.4 dB under optimal polarization control. The experimental results show that reusing the same wavelength is an efficient and promising method for tri-directional lightwave systems.  相似文献

We report the development of a ring tunable fiber laser based on tunable fiber Bragg gratings (TFBG) integrated with an optical circulator. The TFBG is embedded inside a 3-piont bending device for wavelength tuning. The tunable laser operating in the C-band has power variation, tuning resolution, tuning range and laser line width of ±0.5 dB, 0.5 nm, 25.0 nm and less than 0.05 nm, respectively. As 40 mW of pump power is used, the ring tunable laser has a side mode suppression ratio of 60 dB and a power conversion efficiency of 25%. These specifications ensure the high-quality operation of a tunable laser.  相似文献

A multichannel fiber-grating-based optical limiting amplifier module is proposed. Dual-wavelength, hybrid data rate transmission is demonstrated with 30 dB input dynamic range. For 5.0 and 2.5 Gbit s dual-channel transmission in a 200 km single-mode fiber, power penalty due to gain competition between channels and backreflection noise is less than 0.6 dB compared to the receiver sensitivity of 0 km, 5.0 Gbit per second single-channel operation.  相似文献
