Derivatives of n-(pyrimid-4-yl)ethylamine

In order to find compounds possessing antibacterial activity, a number of new derivatives of N-(pyrimid-4-yl)ethylamine have been synthesized from 5-amino-4, 6-dichloropyrimidine, 2-amino-4, 6-dichloro-pyrimidine, 4, 6-dichloro-2-phenylpyrimidine, and 2,4-dichloro-6-methylpyrimidine and various ethylamines substituted in the -position. Several derivatives of 4-(4-methylpiperazinyl)pyrimidine have also been obtained. Results of a biological study of the compounds obtained are presented.For part II, see ¦1¦.     

Study of retention of isomeric aromatic hydrocarbons on GTCB and cyclodextrins

Summary A study has been made of the interaction between graphitized thermal carbon-black and cyclodextrins and a series of 28 derivatives of benzene (benzene, alkyl-, isoalkyl-, dialkyl-, trialkylbenzenes, vinyl-, and allyl-benzene). The specificretention volumes form the basis for a discussion of the mechanism of interaction and drawing conclusions for the practical separation of isomeric compounds.     

Gas chromatographic investigation of adsorption equilibria on graphitized thermal carbon black

Summary Retention volumes and heats of adsorption at low surface coverages of graphitized thermal carbon black (GTCB) for C₆–C₁₄ aromatic hydrocarbons have been determined. The dependence of heats of adsorption of these molecules on their structure and the number of carbon atoms in the molecule have been investigated. Substitution in the ring in methylbenzenes is not equivalent to the lengthening of the side-chain in the isomers of n-alkylbenzenes and gives rise to a much greater increase in the retention volumes and heats of adsorption.

Separation of isomers of saturated polycyclic hydrocarbons in packed capillary columns with graphitized thermal carbon black

Summary Using the example of perhydrophenanthrene, perhydroanthracene and cyclopentanodecalin isomers a possibility is shown to use packed capillary columns containing graphitized thermal carbon black for a complete separation of high-boiling mixtures of polycyclic saturated hydrocarbon isomers in accordance with the geometric structure of their molecules.
