We study the interaction between tin(II) porphyrin (SnPor) with platinum and non-precious Group 8B metals (iron, cobalt and nickel) by density functional theory and discuss the electronic properties of the resulting products. We also model the interaction of the resulting compounds with water where applicable. Our studies indicate that, SnPor-Ni possesses electronic properties similar to SnPor-Pt, suggesting that it may possess similar photocatalytic properties for reduction reactions, such as converting water to hydrogen gas.  相似文献

The physical structure and compatibility of solution-cast Antheraea pernyi/Bombyx mori silk fibroin blend films were stuided by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermomechanical (TMA) and thermogravimetric (TGA) analysis, dynamic viscoelastic measurement, infrared spectroscopy, and x-ray diffractometry. The DSC curves of the blend films showed independent endotherms at 280 and 358°C, corresponding to the thermal decomposition of B. mori and A. pernyi silk fibroins with random coil conformation. The intensity was roughly proportionate to the amount of each component in the blend. The thermal behavior corresponding to the conformational transitions induced by heating on A. pernyi and B. mori silk fibroins overlapped in the temperature range 190–230°C. Thermal expansion and contraction properties, as well as weight retention behavior of the blend films were intermediate between the pure components, as shown by the TMA and TGA curves. The onset temperature of the storage modulus curve decreased markedly, approaching that of B. mori silk fibroin film when the amount of this component in the blend increased. The loss modulus curve of the blend films showed two peaks at ca. 190 and 210°C, the former corresponding to B. mori, and the latter to A. pernyi silk fibroin. Infrared spectra of the blends exhibited absorption bands characteristic of the pure components overlapping in the spectral region 2000–400 cm?1. The x-ray diffraction peaks at 23 and 21.5°, attributed to the crystalline spacings of A. pernyi and B. mori fibroins, respectively, overlapped in the diffraction curves of the blends, while the peak at 11.4°, of A. pernyi, increased as the content of this fibroin in the blend increased. The degree of crystallinity, calculated from the x-ray diffraction curves, diminished as the amount of B. mori silk fibroin decreased. A low degree of compatibility exists between the two fibroins when they are cast from aqueous solution in the experimental conditions adopted in this work. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Kushida and Kushida found that FM radio waves from stations at distances over-the-horizon are received before earthquakes. Based on this finding, since the mid-1990’s, the Kushidas have been practicing “Earthquake Precursor Detection Experiment”. The performance of the Kushida method during 2000–2003 has been evaluated by checking their predictions against the actual seismicity. During the period, there were 92 Kushida predictions mentioning the possibility of M ≥ 5.5 event, whereas there were 49 M ≥ 5.5 earthquakes in the Japanese region. If the criteria for successful prediction are set as: the errors in date is less than one day, epicentral position is roughly within specified area, and error in M is less than 0.5, the success rate was 20% and the alarm rate was 12%. If we relax the criteria to: the errors in dates within 10 days, epicenter within additional 100 km of specified area and the magnitude error less than 1.0, the success rate was 40% and the alarm rate was 27%. These rates may look insufficient for a practical prediction method. Considering, however, the fact that no other short-term prediction has ever been made in Japan so far it is a significant achievement. Moreover, it was found that in almost all failed predictions, meaningful signals were detected although the interpretations were incorrect. This indicates that the method is promising provided further investigation is carried out. The same evaluation at the M ≥ 6.0 level showed that the general performance was similar to the M ≥ 5.5 level, except that both success rate and alarm rate were lower at the M ≥ 6.0 level. If this unexpected finding is real, it might be inherent to the methodology using scattering of short-wave length radio waves as suggested by M. Hayakawa and may contain important information in understanding the earthquake physics and LAI-coupling. The results of the present study indicate strongly that the earthquake prediction research using anomalous transmission of VHF FM radio waves should be enhanced in parallel with complementary research in other frequency ranges.  相似文献

External validation of the biodegradability prediction model CATABOL was conducted using test data of 338 existing chemicals and 1123 new chemicals under the Japanese Chemical Substances Control Law. CATABOL predicts that 1089 chemicals will have a BOD < 60% while 925 (85%) actually have an observed BOD<60%. The percentage of chemicals with an observed BOD value <60% tends to increase as the predicted BOD values decrease. In contrast, 340 chemicals were predicted to have a BOD > or = 60% and 234 (69%) actually had an observed BOD > or = 60%. The prediction of poor biodegradability was more accurate than the predictions of high biodegradability. The features of chemical structures affecting CATABOL predictability were also investigated.  相似文献

Nicardipine, a dihydropyridine type calcium channel blocker, was infused at two flow-rates into spontaneously hypertensive (SH) and control normotensive Wistar-Kyoto (WKY) rats (young, 6-week-old and adult, 23-week-old, n = 5) under pentobarbital anesthesia, to cause hypotension. Mean arterial blood pressure and the concentrations of plasma amino acids and norepinephrine (NE) were measured before infusion and at each step of the infusion. The reduction in blood pressure caused by nicardipine induced a decrease in plasma L-arginine concentration in both young and adult SH rats, this effect being larger in adult rats. There was no significant change in plasma levels of L-arginine in age-matched WKY rats. The concentration of other amino acids did not change in both rat strains. On the contrary, there was an increase in plasma NE concentration in both SH and WKY rats after infusion with nicardipine. Plasma L-arginine concentration showed a good inverse correlation with the logarithm of plasma NE concentration in SH and WKY rats and the correlation was expressed as Y = -alpha log(X) + m (Y, plasma L-arginine concentration (nmol/mL); X, plasma NE concentration (pmol/mL); alpha, a slope; and m, an intercept). alpha, 43.0 and 4.35 for 23-week-old SH and WKY rats, respectively, and 17.0 and 4.0 for 6-week-old SH and WKY rats, respectively. The present data together with previous data suggest a direct noradrenergic stimulation of the synthesis of nitric oxide (NO) from L-arginine. The findings also indicate an impairment of the L-arginine metabolism or pools in SH rats compared with WKY rats. The deficiency of L-arginine increases with the age of SH rats and could be related to the development and maintenance of hypertension due to inefficient production of NO.  相似文献

Sixteen peptides (trimers to hexamers) were designed for use as a set of pI markers for capillary isoelectric focusing (CIEF). Each peptide contains one tryptophan residue for detection by UV absorption and other amino acid residues having ionic side chains, which are responsible for focusing to its pI. The pIs of these peptides were determined by slab-gel IEF using commercial carrier ampholytes. The focused peptides in the gel were detected by absorption measurement at 280 nm using a scanning densitometer and the pH gradient was determined by measuring the pH of the gel using an oxidized metal membrane electrode. The pI values of the peptides ranged from 3.38 to 10.17. The obtained values agreed well with the predicted ones, which were calculated based on amino acid compositions, with root mean square differences of 0.15 pH unit. The peptides were detected at 280 nm as very sharp peaks when separated by CIEF. The pI values of some standard proteins were redetermined by CIEF by using this set of peptide pI markers and the values agreed closely with those reported previously. The sharp focusing, stability, high purity and high solubility of these synthetic pI markers should facilitate the profiling of a pH gradient in a capillary and the determination of the pI values of proteins.  相似文献
