A complete measurement of spin-observables for intermediate-energy inclusive quasielastic polarized proton scattering from C

The complete set of Wolfenstein parameters, the polarization, the asymmetry of scattering and the unpolarized double-differential cross section are presented for inclusive quasielastic proton scattering from ¹²C at a central momentum transfer of q = 1.9 fm⁻¹ and incident energies of 290 and 420 MeV. The spin observables D₀, D_x, D_y and D_z as well as the longitudinal-to-transverse ratio of spin-flip probabilities are extracted from the data. Across the quasielastic continuum, the experimental data is compared to the variations expected from a single-scattering Fermi-gas approximation using the free NN amplitudes. Medium effects are evident in the pronounced quenching of the polarization parameter relative to the free value.     

The reaction 67Zn(t, α)66Cu

Levels of ⁶⁶Cu have been studied using the (t, α) reaction on ⁶⁷Zn at 18 MeV. Orbital and, in some cases, total angular momentum transfer were inferred from a comparison of differential cross sections with those measured for the same reaction on the even zinc isotopes. The quartet of levels corresponding to the p_{$\text{3}\text{2}$} proton pick-up from the $\text{5}\text{2}$^? target was identified. In addition, a strong set of l = 3 transitions was found corresponding to pickup from the f_{$\text{7}\text{2}$} proton shell.     

The reaction 55Mn(d, t)54Mn

Neutron pick-up cross sections and vector analyzing powers have been measured for the reaction ⁵⁵Mn($\text{d}$, t)⁵⁴Mn at 17 MeV. The mixture of $\text{p}{}_{\mathrm{<mtext>1</mtext><mtext>2</mtext>}}$ to $\text{p}{}_{\mathrm{<mtext>3</mtext><mtext>2</mtext>}}$ transfer to the low-lying l_n = 1 states has been found. Evidence of the $\text{f}{}_{\mathrm{<mtext>7</mtext><mtext>2</mtext>}}$ hole nature of several strong l_n = 3 states above 1 MeV has been obtained.
