Measurement of B --> K*gamma branching fractions and charge asymmetries

The branching fractions of the exclusive decays B0-->K(*0)gamma and B+-->K(*+)gamma are measured from a sample of (22.74+/-0.36)x10(6) BB decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric e(+)e(-) collider. We find B (B0-->K(*0)gamma) = [4.23+/-0.40(stat)+/-0.22(syst)]x10(-5), B(B+-->K(*+)gamma) = [3.83+/-0.62(stat)+/-0.22(syst)]x10(-5) and constrain the CP-violating charge asymmetry to be -0.170K(*)gamma)<0.082 at 90% C.L.     

On the (d,Li) reaction

General features of the (d, ⁶Li) reaction are discussed in connections with some residual forces. An enhancement of ground state transitions among superconducting nuclei is found. Some examples in the lp shell are also worked out and coherence is found between the T = 0 and T = 1 channels of the residual force.     

Navier–Stokes solutions for steady parallel-sided pendent rivulets

We investigate exact solutions of the Navier–Stokes equations for steady rectilinear pendent rivulets running under inclined surfaces. First we show how to find exact solutions for sessile or hanging rivulets for any profile of the substrate (transversally to the direction of flow) and with no restrictions on the contact angles. The free surface is a cylindrical meniscus whose shape is determined by the static equilibrium between gravity and surface tension, by the shape of the solid surface, and by the contact angles on both contact lines. Given this, the velocity field can be obtained by integrating numerically a Poisson equation. We then perform a systematic study of rivulets hanging below an inclined plane, computing some of their global properties, and discussing their stability.     

The renormalization of collective states and the improper initial or final states in NFT

The collective lines in a given diagram are renormalized by including higher order processes. The problem is cast into the form of a conventional linear algebraic matrix equation that allows a simple treatment of the normalization conditions. It is shown that the states entering in the renormalization of the phonons become improper initial or final states, if dressed phonons are used in the intermediate states. A simple extension of this argument allows one to justify one of the rules given in the formulation of the NFT.     

Measurement of the decays B--> phiK and B--> phiK*

We have observed the decays B--> phiK and phiK(*) in a sample of over 45 million B mesons collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II collider. The measured branching fractions are B(B+--> phiK+) = (7.7(+1.6)(-1.4)+/-0.8)x10(-6), B(B0--> phiK0) = (8.1(+3.1)(-2.5)+/-0.8)x10(-6), B(B+--> phiK(*+)) = (9.7(+4.2)(-3.4)+/-1.7)x10(-6), and B(B0--> phiK(*0)) = (8.7(+2.5)(-2.1)+/-1.1)x10(-6). We also report the upper limit B(B+--> phipi(+))<1.4x10(-6) ( 90% C.L.).
