Abstract The purification by column chromatography of a phenol-oxidizing enzyme, mushroom tyrosinase, was investigated using solid phase adsorbents designed to have specific affinity for the enzyme. Sepharose 4B, aminophenyl-bearing porous glass, and p-aminobenzylcellulose were chemically modified to introduce phenolic, catecholic, or benzoic groups on the polymer surface. The resulting preparations were tested for their effectiveness in separating tyrosinase from an impure protein mixture. The phenolic and benzoic polymers displayed no specific affinity for tyrosinase. Aminophenyl glass, with or without an attached phenolic group, adsorbed appreciable quantities of protein nonspecif-ically, thus complicating studies of its tyrosinase affinity properties. Dopamine, a dihydroxyphenyl derivative, was bound to Sepharose and was found to be effective in retaining tyrosinase at pH 5.5; elution of the enzyme by washing at pH 8.8 resulted in its purification by a factor of 10 to 14. Enzymatic oxidation of the adsorbent limited the number of purification cycles which could be carried out on a single column. 相似文献

Abstract The polymerization of butadiene in emulsion initiated by 6 0Co gamma radiation has been studied in some detail. Similar studies with styrene and styrene-butadiene comonomer mixtures were also conducted. The rates of polymerization were found to be much lower than anticipated from the reported kp values for butadiene and for the comonomer mixtures. Styrene, on the other hand, polymerizes at normal rates. A number of possible explanations for this behavior is discussed. 相似文献

A simple dye-laser system is described in which Rhodamine dyes are pumped by a co-axial linear air flashlamp in a cylindrical elliptical pumping reflector. Output pulses lasting up to 1.5sec and containing up to 250 mJ energy, have been successfully mode-locked to produce 100% modulated pulse trains. Employing a diffraction grating as cavity reflector to tune the laser frequency, in each case, for maximum absorption by the same Q-switching dye, successful mode-locking has been achieved with both Rhodamine B and Rhodamine 6G. Time resolved emission spectra have been recorded with an image tube streak camera and the effect of resonant reflectors has been studied.This work was described in a paper presented at the IEEE Conference on Laser Engineering and Applications, Washington, May 1969. 相似文献

We report a simple interference method to determine the dispersion of the extraordinary refractive index and birefringence of highly conjugated and coloured nematic liquid crystals used as light-emitting materials in organic electroluminescent devices. The measurements are made in the nematic glass phase at room temperature. The birefringence is highly dispersive and values up to 1.1 are obtained. Chiral groups are incorporated into the end chains giving a chiral nematic liquid crystal with a very wide stopband in the visible region. The Berreman matrix method is used to simulate transmission through the chiral nematic liquid crystal cell using the refractive index parameters obtained experimentally. Excellent agreement between theory and experiment is found. 相似文献

In this paper it is shown that the projective cover of the trivial irreducible module of a finite-dimensional solvable restricted Lie algebra is induced from the one dimensional trivial module of a maximal torus. As a consequence, the number of the isomorphism classes of irreducible modules with a fixed p-character for a finite-dimensional solvable restricted Lie algebra L is bounded above by p MT(L), where MT(L) denotes the maximal dimension of a torus in L. Finally, it is proved that in characteristic p > 3 the projective cover of the trivial irreducible L-module is induced from the one-dimensional trivial module of a torus of maximal dimension, only if L is solvable. 相似文献

Dual-detector differential non-destructive Fourier transform detection in a quadrupole ion trap is shown to improve signal intensity and reduce noise compared with spectra recorded using a single detector. A larger area detector in each end-cap electrode is machined to fit its hyperbolic shape and so minimize field imperfections on the z-axis. Argon, acetophenone and bromobenzene spectra were recorded to allow a comparison between single- and dual-detector (differential) modes of detection and to demonstrate the improvement achieved with differential detection. Abstract Since 1975, the IARC has been preparing a series of volumes entitled “Environmental Carcinogens: Selected Methods of Analysis” (IARC Manual Series) of which the purposes are to assist analysts, epidemiologists and regulatory authorities in planning or performing exposure measurements that are truly comparable between different studies. The Manual series provides expert information within each volume on multimedia sampling, methods of analyses and some background of epidemiology, metabolism, use/occurrence for a group of known or suspect carcinogens. So far, eleven volumes have been published or are in preparation on the following subjects: (1) N-nitrosamines, (2) vinyl chloride, (3) PAH, (4) aromatic amines, (5) mycotoxins, (6) N-nitroso compounds, (7) volatile halogenated hydrocarbons, (8) metals, (9) passive smoking, (10) benzene and alkylated benzenes, (1) dioxins, PCDFs and PCBs. 相似文献
