We demonstrate efficient modification of the polarized light emission from single semiconductor nanowires by coupling this emission to surface plasmon polaritons on a metal grating. The polarization anisotropy of the emitted photoluminescence from single nanowires is compared for wires deposited on silica, a flat gold film, and a shallow gold grating. By varying the orientation of the nanowire with respect to the grating grooves, the large intrinsic polarization anisotropy can be either suppressed or enhanced. This modification is interpreted by the appearance of an additional emission channel induced by surface plasmon polaritons and their conversion to p-polarized radiation at the grating.  相似文献

We observe coherent interactions between an ultrashort, longitudinal acoustic soliton train and the 29-cm(-1) electronic transition in photoexcited ruby. Propagation of the strain pulses over millimeter distance through an excited zone reveals striking behavior of the induced electronic population, which has been explained by impulsive excitation of the two-level systems, combined with the nonlinear properties of the solitons in the resonant medium. This opens up new possibilities for coherent manipulation of ultrashort acoustic pulses by local electronic centers.  相似文献

Making use of the fractional differential operator, we impose and study a new class of analytic functions in the unit disk (type fractional differential equation). The main object of this paper is to investigate inclusion relations, coefficient bound for this class. Moreover, we discuss some geometric properties of the fractional differential operator.  相似文献

Spatial modulation microscopy (SMM) is a technique originally developed for quantitative spectroscopy of individual nano-objects. Here, a parallel implementation of the SMM technique is demonstrated based on a line detector capable of demodulation at kHz frequencies. The capabilities of the imaging system are shown using an array of plasmonic nanoantennas and dendritic cells incubated with gold nanoparticles.  相似文献

The interaction of light with nanostructured materials provides exciting new opportunities for investigating classical wave analogies of quantum phenomena. A topic of particular interest forms the interplay between wave physics and chaos in systems where a small perturbation can drive the behavior from the classical to chaotic regime. Here, we report an all‐optical laser‐driven transition from order to chaos in integrated chips on a silicon photonics platform. A square photonic crystal microcavity at telecom wavelengths is tuned from an ordered into a chaotic regime through a perturbation induced by ultrafast laser pulses in the ultraviolet range. The chaotic dynamics of weak probe pulses in the near infrared is characterized for different pump‐probe delay times and at various positions in the cavity, with high spatial accuracy. Our experimental analysis, confirmed by numerical modelling based on random matrices, demonstrates that nonlinear optics can be used to control reversibly the chaotic behavior of light in optical resonators.

The plasmonic properties of self-assembled layers of rod- and branched-shaped gold nanoparticles were investigated using optical techniques. Nanoparticles were synthesized by a surfactant-guided, seed-mediated growth method. The layers were obtained by gradual assembly of nanoparticles at the interface between a polar and a nonpolar solvent and were transferred to a glass slide. Polarization and angle-dependent extinction measurements showed that the layers made of gold nanorods were governed by an effective medium response. The response of the layers made by branched gold particles was characterized by random light scattering. Microscopic mapping of the spatial mode structure demonstrates a uniform optical response of the nanoparticle layers down to a submicrometer length scale.  相似文献

We demonstrate ultrafast dephasing in the random transport of light through a layer consisting of strongly scattering GaP nanowires. Dephasing results in a nonlinear intensity modulation of individual pseudomodes which is 100 times larger than that of bulk GaP. Different contributions to the nonlinear response are separated by using total transmission, white-light frequency correlation, and statistical pseudomode analysis. A dephasing time of 1.2±0.2 ps is found. Quantitative agreement is obtained with numerical model calculations which include photoinduced absorption and deformation of individual scatterers. Nonlinear dephasing of photonic eigenmodes opens up avenues for ultrafast control of random lasers, nanophotonic switches, and photon localization.  相似文献
