We analyze the relaxation behavior of a bistable system when the background temperature profile is inhomogeneous due to the presence of a localized hot region (blowtorch) on one side of the potential barrier. Since the diffusion equation for inhomogeneous medium is model-dependent, we consider two physical models to study the kinetics of such system. Using a conventional stochastic method, we obtain the escape and equilibration rates of the system for the two physical models. For both models, we find that the hot region enhances the escape rate from the well where it is placed while it retards the escape rate from the other well. However, the value of the escape rate from the well where the hot region is placed differs for the two models while that of the escape rate from the other well is identical for both. This work, for the first time, gives a detailed report of the similarities and differences of the escape rates and, hence, exposes the common and distinct features of the two known physical models in determining the way the bistable system relaxes. Strong fluence dependence of photodesorption cross sections is observed in femtosecond laser photodesorption of NO from (NO)2 on silver nanoparticles, in contrast to femtosecond photodesorption on bulk metals. The time scale of excitation buildup is found to be equal or less than the pulse duration of ~100 fs; NO translational energies are independent of fluence and pulse duration. We propose a nanoparticle-specific nonlinear mechanism in which, due to confinement, strongly nonthermal hot-electron distributions are maintained during the femtosecond pulses, enhancing the normal desorption pathway.  相似文献

Zinc oxide nanoparticles were tethered to carbon nanotubes to form an electrochemical sensing composite, which was characterized using transmission electron microscopy, and X‐ray photoelectron and attenuated total reflectance infrared spectroscopies. The sensor′s electrocatalytic response for measuring hydrogen peroxide was investigated using cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry in a dynamic, well defined swimming pool environment. A wide, linear response in the concentration range of 0.025–7.0 mM at a potential of ?0.360 V was shown, with rapid response time (<5 s). The sensor had excellent reproducibility, exhibited stability and selectivity, and was able to measure concentrations in a dynamic environment as they varied.  相似文献

Q-switched output of 1.1 J/pulse at a 2.053 microm wavelength has been achieved in a diode-pumped Ho: Tm: LuLF laser with a side-pumped rod configuration in a master-oscillator-power-amplifier (MOPA) architecture. This is the first time to our knowledge that a 2 microm laser has broken the joule per pulse barrier for Q-switched operation. The total system efficiency reaches 5% and 6.2% for single- and double-pulse operation, respectively. The system produces an excellent 1.4 times transform-limited beam quality.  相似文献

Solid phase extraction (SPE) methods based on multiple extractions have been developed to overcome matrix interferences in the charge-based fractionation analysis of As, Cr, Mo, Sb, Se and V leached from cement-based materials. Disposable SPE tubes packed with 500 mg strong anion-exchange (SAX) or strong cation-exchange (SCX) sorbents were used to extract the anionic and cationic species of the elements, respectively. The multiple extractions were based on the percolation of a small sample volume (5.0 mL) through a series of identical ion-exchange tubes. For most of the elements, more than 90% of the anionic species were extracted from a sample containing up to 16 g L−1 NO3 by passing the aliquot through five identical SAX tubes. Percolating a sample aliquot through three identical SCX cartridges gave more than 99% retention for Cr(III) from leachates containing a high concentration of interfering metal cations. The anionic and cationic analytes showed only slight non-specific adsorption on the SCX and SAX sorbents, respectively, except for V(V) on the SCX sorbent. A condition was established for the quantitative elution of the retained analytes from the ion-exchange sorbents with 1.0 mol L−1 HNO3. The multiple ion-exchange SPE procedures were validated using spike recovery tests. The methods were used to determine the anionic and cationic fractions of the target elements in concrete leachates covering a broad range of pH (3.8-13.4). The elements were found to exist predominantly as anions in the alkaline and neutral leachates. A high fraction (85%) of cationic Cr was detected in the most acidic leachate (pH 3.8).  相似文献

Supported liquid membrane (SLM) method for preconcentration and enrichment of the two bipyridilium herbicides, namely diquat and paraquat, from environmental water samples has been developed. The permanently charged cationic herbicides were extracted from a flowing aqueous solution to a stagnant acidic acceptor solution across a liquid membrane containing 40% (v/v) di-(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid dissolved in di-n-hexyl ether. The mass transfer of analytes is driven by the counter-coupled transport of hydrogen ions from the acceptor to the donor phase. The efficiency of the extraction process depends on the donor solution pH, the amount of the mobile carrier added to the liquid membrane and the concentration of the counter ion in the acceptor solution. The applicability of the method for extraction of these quaternary ammonium herbicides from environmental waters was also investigated by spiking analyte sample solutions in river water. With 24 h sample enrichment concentrations of diquat and paraquat down to ca. 10 ng/L could be detected in environmental waters.  相似文献

An efficient double-pulse Ho:Tm:YLF 2-microm laser with total Q-switched output energy of 600 mJ has been demonstrated. A double-pulse pair is obtained per pump pulse. By operation of the laser in a double-pulse format, the residual energy stored among the Tm ions is transferred to the Ho atoms that were de-excited by the extraction of the first Q-switched pulse. Thus, the overall laser efficiency is increased by 61%.  相似文献

Classical blockmodel is known as the simplest among models of networks with community structure. The model can be also seen as an extremely simply example of interconnected networks. For this reason, it is surprising that the percolation transition in the classical blockmodel has not been examined so far, although the phenomenon has been studied in a variety of much more complicated models of interconnected and multiplex networks. In this paper we derive the self-consistent equation for the size the global percolation cluster in the classical blockmodel. We also find the condition for percolation threshold which characterizes the emergence of the giant component. We show that the discussed percolation phenomenon may cause unexpected problems in a simple optimization process of the multilevel network construction. Numerical simulations confirm the correctness of our theoretical derivations.  相似文献

Atomic force microscopy (AFM) has been used to investigate the local mechanical and structural properties of microtubules polymerized using guanylyl-alpha-beta-methylene diphosphonate (GMPCPP), a slowly hydrolyzable analogue of guanosine triphosphate. Using a combination of AFM imaging and local force spectroscopy, GMPCPP-polymerized microtubules have been qualitatively and quantitatively compared to paclitaxel-stabilized microtubules. GMPCPP-polymerized microtubules qualitatively display a greater resistance to destruction by the AFM probe tip during imaging and during deformation measurements and maintain structural details after indentation. In addition, using force spectroscopy taken during the indentation and collapse of individual microtubules with the AFM probe tip, an effective spring constant of the microtubule wall (kMT) for both types of microtubules was determined. The average kMT of GMPCPP-polymerized microtubules, 0.172 N/m, is more than twice that of paclitaxel-stabilized microtubules. These results complement previously reported measurements of bending experiments on GMPCPP-polymerized and paclitaxel-stabilized microtubules.  相似文献
