Neutron yield upon the irradiation of thin TiD<Subscript>2</Subscript> foils with a superintense laser pulse

The yield of neutrons from the thermonuclear-fusion reaction D(d, n)³He induced in a thin skin layer by the interaction of a high-intensity laser pulse of picosecond duration with thin TiD₂ foils is calculated. A multiple ionization of titanium atoms at the leading edge of the laser pulse is considered. The heating of free electrons proceeds via induced inverse bremsstrahlung in elastic electron scattering on multiply charged titanium ions. The electron temperature is calculated. It proves to be about 10 keV at the laser-pulse intensity of 5×10¹⁸ W/cm² at the peak. The neutron yield is estimated at 10⁴ per laser pulse. These results are in qualitative agreement with experimental data.

Resonance reflection by the one-dimensional Rosen-Morse potential well in the Gross-Pitaevskii problem

We consider the quantum above-barrier reflection of a particle by the one-dimensional Rosen-Morse potential well, for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation (the Gross-Pitaevskii equation) with a small nonlinearity. The most interesting case is realized in resonances when the reflection coefficient is exactly equal to zero for the linear Schrödinger equation. Then the reflection is determined by only a small nonlinear term in the Gross-Pitaevskii equation. The simple analytic expression is obtained for the reflection coefficient produced only by the nonlinearity. The analytic condition is found for the common action of the potential well and the nonlinearity to produce the zero reflection coefficient. The reflection coefficient is also derived analytically in the vicinity of a resonance shifted by the nonlinearity.     

Uncertainty Relation for the Radial Momentum and Radial Coordinate in the Coulomb Potential

We have obtained the uncertainty relations for arbitrary states of the hydrogen atom. It is shown that the minimal value of the uncertainty relation (Δp_rΔr → ?2) is attained for the circular Rydberg states.     

Energy Structure of an Individual Mn Acceptor in GaAs : Mn

The energy structure of the Mn acceptor, which is a complex of Mn²⁺ ion plus valence band hole, is investigated in the external magnetic field and under presence of an uniaxial stress has been studied. The spin-flip Raman spectra are studied under resonant excitation of exciton bound to the Mn acceptor. The gfactors of the ground F = 1 and the first excited F = 2 states are determined and selection rules for the optical transitions between the acceptor states are described. The value of the random field (stress or electric field) acting on manganese acceptor and the deformation potential for the exchange interaction constant of the Mn²⁺ + hole complex are obtained. A theoretical model is developed that takes into account the influence of random internal and uniaxial external stress and magnetic field. The proposed model describes well the lines of spin-flip Raman scattering of Mn acceptor.
