Orbital-selective Mott-insulator transition in Ca 2 - x Sr x RuO 4

The electronic structures of the metallic and insulating phases of the alloy series Ca_2-xSr_xRuO₄ ( 0 ? x ? 2) are calculated using LDA, LDA+U and Dynamical Mean-Field Approximation methods. In the end members the groundstate respectively is an orbitally non-degenerate antiferromagnetic insulator (x = 0) and a good metal (x = 2). For x > 0.5 the observed Curie-Weiss paramagnetic metallic state which possesses a local moment with the unexpected spin S = 1/2, is explained by the coexistence of localized and itinerant Ru-4d-orbitals. For 0.2 < x < 0.5 we propose a state with partial orbital and spin ordering. An effective model for the localized orbital and spin degrees of freedom is discussed. The metal-insulator transition at x = 0.2 is attributed to a switch in the orbital occupation associated with a structural change of the crystal. Received 27 July 2001     

Thermoelectrical regime of a vertical electrolyzer. Part 2: Numerical modeling of two-phase electrolyte convection

The results of numerical modeling of two-phase electrolyte thermo-and hydrodynamics in the working space of a separate electrolyzer cell with vertical electrode arrangement are presented. The problem is solved in a self-consistent formulation taking into account the electric current, Joule heat evolution, gas evolution, gas and liquid flows, and electric conductivity of the disperse phase. Within the framework of the proposed two-liquid approach, near-wall bubbly flow is calculated using a model of expanding gas plume, which is based on the introduction of an effective force acting upon the gas phase. The results of several variants of such calculations are compared. The numerical solution is also compared to approximate analytical solutions of the problem. The results of this study can be used to calculate estimations of the electrical and thermal regimes of vertical electrolyzers.     

Properties of determining choline alfoscerate impurities in soft gelatin capsules

The methods for determining choline alfoscerate impurities in soft gelatin capsules in the presence of auxiliary substances by thin-layer chromatography have been developed. The methods can be used to control the quality of the preparation in the process of output and storage.     

Application of nonspecific biosensors methodology for right choice of diagnostic criteria for food allergy and intolerance on the basis of specific human IGG determination

Under consideration is the application of a methodology of nonspecific biomarkers to the interpretation of the titers of specific immunoglobulins of type IgG for the purpose of accurate determination of a threshold between normal and abnormal values. Proposed is a mathematical model of assessment of a phase status of a biological entity based on the ranking of a series of concentrations of specific immunoglobulins of type IgG.

Synthesis of 4-(2-chloroethoxy)phenyl glycosides and their modification

4-(2-Chloroethoxy)phenyl (CEP) aglycon belongs to the class of Janus aglycons and has already been used as a pre-spacer in the synthesis of neoglycoconjugates and as a temporary protective group in the synthesis of oligosaccharides. In the present work, a set of glycosides of various monosaccharides containing CEP aglycon was synthesized. The possibility of modification of CEP aglycon was demonstrated using the corresponding lactoside as an example.

     

Remarks on the Existence of Unconditional Bases for Weighted Countably-Hilbert Spaces and Their Complemented Subspaces

We give versions of a criterion for existence of unconditional bases for countably-Hilbert spaces. As applications we obtain theorems on existence of unconditional bases for certain classes of countably-Hilbert function spaces and for their complemented subspaces under additional constraints on the space and the corresponding projections to the complemented subspaces. These classes include generalizations of power series spaces of finite type and Kothe spaces determined by Dragilev-type functions.
