Synthèse du mèthyl-1 diformyl-2,3 pyrrole,de la méthyl-1 pyrrolo[2,3-d] pyridazine et de la méthyl-1 oxo-6 (6h)cycloheptatrieno[b] pyrrole

This communication describes the synthesis of l-methyl-2,3-diformylpyrrole. This new compound is used to prepare a new heterocycle, l-methylcyclohepta[b]pyrrol-6-one and thus allows a new synthesis of l-methylpyrrolo[2,3-d]pyridazine.     

Photoelectron spectroscopy of isolated multiply negatively charged oligonucleotides

Ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy in an ion beam was used to investigate the electronic properties of isolated DNA oligonucleotides [dA(5)-4H](4-) and [dT(5)-4H](4-), carrying four excess negative charges. We find the fourth adiabatic electron affinity to be slightly negative for [dA(5)-4H](4-), while it is positive for [dT(5)-4H](4-). This implies a significant influence of the base composition on energetics, which is in turn relevant for analytic applications and also for charge transport properties.     

Photoelectron spectroscopy of fullerene dianions C76(2-), C78(2-), and C84(2-)

We report laser photoelectron spectra of the doubly negatively charged fullerenes C(76) (2-), C(78) (2-), and C(84) (2-) at 2.33, 3.49, and 4.66 eV photon energy. From these spectra, second electron affinities and vertical detachment energies, as well as estimates for the repulsive Coulomb barriers are obtained. These results are discussed in the context of electrostatic models. They reveal that fullerenes are similar to conducting spheres, with electronic properties scaling with their size. The experimental spectra are compared with the accessible excited states of the respective singly charged product ions calculated in the framework of time dependent density functional theory.     

Enantiopure Calcium Iminophosphonamide Complexes: Synthesis,Photoluminescence, and Catalysis

The synthesis of calcium complexes ligated by three different chiral iminophosphonamide ligands, L- H ( L =[Ph₂P{N(R)CH(CH₃)Ph}₂]), L′ -H ( L′ =[Ph₂P{NDipp}{N(R)CH(CH₃)Ph}]), (Dipp=2,6-ⁱPr₂C₆H₃), and L′′ -H ( L′′ =[Ph₂P{N(R)CH(CH₃)naph}₂]), (naph=naphthyl) is presented. The resulting structures [ L ₂Ca], [ L′ ₂Ca], and [ L′′ ₂Ca] represent the first examples of enantiopure homoleptic calcium complexes based on this type of ligands. The calcium complexes show blue–green photoluminescence (PL) in the solid state, which is especially bright at low temperatures. Whereas the emission of [ L′′ ₂Ca] is assigned to the fluorescence of naphthyl groups, the PL of [ L ₂Ca] and [ L′ ₂Ca] is contributed by long-lived phosphorescence and thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF), with a strong variation of the PL lifetimes over the temperature range of 5–295 K. Furthermore, an excellent catalytic activity was found for these complexes in hydroboration of ketones at room temperature, although no enantioselectivity was achieved.     

Mössbauer spectroscopy of Fe-Ni and Fe-Pt alloys

Mössbauer measurement on Fe-Ni and on Fe-Pt in the ordered and disordered states at various temperatures and in a longitudinal external field (H_ext = 50 kOe) have been analyzed. Hyperfine field distributions of Fe-Ni Invar alloys indicate that in addition to the ferromagnetic phase a second phase or state exists whose magnetic properties seem to be closely related to those of γ-Fe. No second phase or state was detected in the ordered Fe-Pt, while the situation in disordered Fe-Pt is uncertain.     

Metal-insulator transitions in microclusters? Mixed sodium/sodium chloride aggregates

Photoionization measurements on cluster beams obtained by coexpanding sodium and sodium chloride vapors allow inferences regarding the thermodynamic stability of a number of mixed metal/salt aggregates. We discuss the possibility of observing composition dependent metal/insulator transitions among clusters with a fixed number of monomer units.
