Revisiting Gouy phase

The aim of this paper is to highlight the added value of the generalized Gouy phase shift introduced by Siegman. Although suited for optical systems study, including those more complex than free space, we note that it did not meet the use that it deserves so far. The analysis of the whole of the ideas and analytical approaches associated to the important concept of the Gouy phase proves its effectiveness.

Usually, the resonance condition is systematically built on the basis of the equivalent empty cavity. Unfortunately, this approach does not cover some of the useful parameters of the real resonator. By means of the generalized Gouy phase and the self-consistent complex parameter q, we derive here a new approach for the calculation of the resonance condition for the real cavity. Moreover, the use of the generalized Gouy phase clearly simplifies the study of resonators, while making it possible to avoid the use of the Huygens’ Fresnel integral.     

Solutions analytiques globales de problèmes linéaires avec argument absorbant

The aim of this work is the study of the Cauchy problem for a large class of linear operators, non-necessarily kowalevskian, with shrinking argument. We prove the well posedness of this problem in the space of analytic functions with respect to time and Gevrey class with respect to spatial variable. Our tools are based on formal norms of Leray and Waelbroeck [J. Leray, L. Waelbroeck, Norme formelle d'une fonction composée (Préliminaire à l'étude des systèmes non linéaires, hyperboliques non stricts), in: Colloque de Liège, CBRM, 1964, pp. 145-152. A Facile Strategy for Construction of Sensor for Detection of Ondansetron and Investigation of its Redox Behavior and Thermodynamic Parameters

A sodium dodecylsulfate‐doped polypyrrole (SDS‐PPy) film was elaborated on glassy carbon electrode (GCE) by an electrodeposition method in phosphate buffer solution (pH 2.0) containing pyrrole (Py) and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). SDS‐PPy/GCE was used for the construction of sensor, which showed excellent electrochemical response for the detection of ondansetron (OND) compared to conventional PPy. The application of the square wave (SW), with the adsorptive accumulation, indicates a maximum response at 1.33 V in H₂SO₄ (0.5 M). The influence of experimental parameters on determination of OND is discussed. The adsorptive stripping technique showed to be more sensitive, giving responses twice as big as those of non‐accumulated OND. The substantial improvement of response permits the development of an electroanalytical technique with a linear concentration in the range (1.0–80 μM), low detection (0.09 μM), and quantification limits (0.3 μM), and acceptable relative standard deviations of repeatability (0.59 %), and reproducibility (1.51 %). Consequently, this electrode is promising candidate for an accurate electroanalytical determination of OND in pharmaceutical samples with high sensitivity and selectivity, good accuracy and precision. The electrooxidation of OND at SDS‐PPy/GCE at various temperatures were studied by cyclic voltammetry to evaluate both the kinetic (k_s and E_a) and thermodynamic (ΔG*, ΔH* and ΔS*) parameters.

In vivo oral insulin delivery via covalent organic frameworks

With diabetes being the 7th leading cause of death worldwide, overcoming issues limiting the oral administration of insulin is of global significance. The development of imine-linked-covalent organic framework (nCOF) nanoparticles for oral insulin delivery to overcome these delivery barriers is herein reported. A gastro-resistant nCOF was prepared from layered nanosheets with insulin loaded between the nanosheet layers. The insulin-loaded nCOF exhibited insulin protection in digestive fluids in vitro as well as glucose-responsive release, and this hyperglycemia-induced release was confirmed in vivo in diabetic rats without noticeable toxic effects. This is strong evidence that nCOF-based oral insulin delivery systems could replace traditional subcutaneous injections easing insulin therapy.

We report the successful use of a gastro-resistant covalent organic framework for in vivo oral delivery of insulin.     

Alternative model for computing intensity patterns through apertured ABCD systems

We propose an alternative model based on mode conversion for computing axial and transverse intensity field distributions of apertured systems. We then develop a new method for the integration of oscillating functions that derive from the model. The integration technique we developed is efficient, very fast and would be useful in many other fields of physics.
