Photostimulated phenomena in relaxors

The action of illumination on the conducting and dielectric properties of lead magnoniobate was investigated. The photostimulated currents were examined and the spectral dependence of photoconductivity in the region of diffuse phase transition was obtained. It was found that the illumination affects the dielectric properties and that its action is memorized at temperatures below room temperature. The role of defect states in the formation of relaxor properties is discussed on the basis of the obtained data.     

Phase transitions in silicon single crystals resulting from directional plastic deformation

The formation of polytypic modifications is observed in dislocation-free silicon single crystals under directional plastic deformation. It is shown that the deformation-stimulated phase appears on the surface of the sample in the form of small grains ranging from several hundred to several thousand angstroms in size. Effect of the anionic composition and pH on the dissolution kinetics of chromium(III) oxide and chromium(III) hydroxide oxide in acids

Based on an experimental investigation of the effects of the pH and anionic composition on the dissolution rate of chromium(III) oxide α-Cr₂O₃ and chromium(III) hydroxide oxide α-CrOOH and subsequent modeling of the process, it is demonstrated that, depending on the pH, the rate-controlling stage of the dissolution is the CrOH²⁺ or CrHSO ₄ ²⁺ sobulization.     

Polarization fluoroimmunoassays for the specific determination of amphetamine and methamphetamine in urine with the abbott TDx-analyzer

Two polarization fluoroimmunoassays for the screening of amphetamine and methamphetamine in urine were adapted for use with the Abbott TD_x-Analyzer running in the automatic mode. The detection limits of amphetamine and methamphetamine in 10 μl of urine were 0.03 and 0.05 mg l^?1, respectively. These assays were specific for the determination of amphetamine (cross-reactivity with methamphetamine 1%) or for the determination of methamphetamine (cross-reactivity with amphetamine 2.5%). No significant cross-reaction was observed with other drugs of abuse (ephedrine, morphine and butabarbital).     

Measurement of the Hydrodynamic Efficiency of Laser Plasma at the “Kanal-2” Installation using Aluminum and Copper Targets

The results of experimental measurements of the hydrodynamic efficiency of laser plasma for aluminum and copper targets are presented. The studies were performed on the “Kanal-2” laser setup system using the ballistic pendulum method. The pressure in the interaction chamber was 10^?4 Torr, the pendulum length was 145 mm, the mass of the pendulum with a target was 7.2 g. At the half-height pulse duration of 2.5 ns, the power density on the target surface was ～10¹³ W/cm². In the case of aluminum target, the hydrodynamic efficiency coefficient increased from 1.5% to 4.5% with increasing laser pulse energy from 5 J to 10 J, whereas it remained at the level of 5% for the copper target.     

Structural transitions in ice samples at low temperatures and pressures

The structure of ice samples formed in the decay of a water impurity gel at temperatures above 4 K and atmospheric pressure has been examined. The X-ray diffraction analysis indicates that three phases coexist in the initial sample at temperatures of 85–110 K. These phases are amorphous ice occupying up to 30% of the sample volume, cubic-phase ice I _c metastable at low pressures (∼60%), and normal hexagonal ice I _h (≤6%). The characteristic sizes of crystals of the cubic and hexagonal phases are about 6 and 30 nm, respectively. The amorphous phase at annealing above 110 K is gradually transformed to the crystalline phase both cubic and hexagonal. This transition is accompanied by two processes, including a fast increase in the sizes of cubicphase nanocrystals and the partial transition of the cubic phase I _c to the hexagonal one I _h. Hexagonal ice I _h prevails in the bulk of the sample above 200 K.     

Influence of the Composition of Chloride-containing Solutions on the Corrosion of 12Cr18Ni10Ti Steel

The corrosion activity of chloride-containing solutions formed in production of ternary nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium fertilizers was studied. The inhibiting effect of hydroxide ions on the corrosion of 12Cr18Ni10Ti steel during the evaporation of solutions of nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium fertilizers was evaluated.
