Heavy ion irradiation in the electronic stopping power region induces macroscopic dimensional change in metallic glasses and introduces magnetic anisotropy in some magnetic materials. The present work is on the irradiation study of ferromagnetic metallic glasses, where both dimensional change and modification of magnetic anisotropy are expected. Magnetic anisotropy was measured using Mössbauer spectroscopy of virgin and irradiated Fe40Ni40B20 and Fe40Ni38Mo4B18 metallic glass ribbons. 90 MeV 127I beam was used for the irradiations. Irradiation doses were 5×1013 and 7.5×1013 ions/cm2. The relative intensity ratios D 23 of the second and third lines of the Mössbauer spectra were measured to determine the magnetic anisotropy. The virgin samples of both the materials display in-plane magnetic anisotropy, i.e., the spins are oriented parallel to the ribbon plane. Irradiation is found to cause reduction in magnetic anisotropy. Near-complete randomization of magnetic moments is observed at high irradiation doses. Correlation is found between the residual stresses introduced by ion irradiation and the change in magnetic anisotropy. 相似文献

Detecting pipe changes via acoustic matched field processing 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Detecting pipe irregularities such as intrusions can be challenging. However, subtle changes can be identified in the complex acoustic fields measured over a range of frequencies and over a time interval given an “array” of receivers. In particular, for two receivers one can coherently process the signals via matched field processing (MFP) to infer whether or not there have been changes such as new intrusions relative to undisturbed fields measured earlier. There is no acoustic modelling of the fields required, only the simple linear processor is applied, and only test data (five scenarios) are used in this demonstration. A key advantage to using MFP plus two (or more) microphones is that absolute sound levels need not be carefully measured. 相似文献

We present studies of novel nanocomposites of BiNi impregnated into the structure of opals as well as inverse opals. Atomic force microscopy and high resolution elemental analyses show
a highly ordered structure and uniform distribution of the BiNi filler in the matrix. These BiNi-based nanocomposites are
found to exhibit distinct ferromagnetic-like ordering with transition temperature of about 675 K. As far as we know there
exists no report in literature on any BiNi compound which is magnetic. 相似文献

Experimental and theoretical modeling of the vibro-acoustic performance of a distributed mode loudspeaker (DML) suggest that their acoustic emission can be significantly affected by the presence of a porous layer. The amplitude of the surface velocity of the panel and the acoustic pressure on the porous surface are reduced largely in the vicinity of structural resonances due to the additional radiation damping and visco-thermal absorption phenomenon in the porous layer. The experimental results suggest that a porous layer between a rigid base and a DML panel can considerably alter its acoustic emission in the near field and in the far field. This is illustrated by a reduction in the level of fluctuations in the emitted acoustic pressure spectra. These fluctuations are normally associated with the interference between the sound emitted by the front surface of the speaker and that emitted from the back. Another contribution comes from the pronounced structural resonances in the surface velocity spectrum. The results of this work suggest that the acoustic boundary conditions near a DML can be modified by the porous layer so that a desired acoustic output can be attained. 相似文献

Using the recent results for the surface current density on cylindrical surfaces of arbitrary cross-section producing uniform
interior magnetic field we propose a method for obtaining solutions of Bean’s critical state model for general cylindrical
samples. The method uses the technique of conformal mapping to express the sample surface and the flux-fronts in terms of
a set of coefficients that depend on a parameter. The flux-fronts are to be determined by solving a system of nonlinear ordinary
differential equations for the coefficients. Retaining only a certain finite number of leading coefficients we get an approximate
solution. The procedure is illustrated by considering two cyclindrical samples — one with an elliptical cross-section and
the other with a non-elliptical cross-section. The virgin curve and small and large magnetization hysteresis loops for the
two samples are obtained. 相似文献

The paper presents a systematic study of acoustic and non-acoustic properties of consolidated porous samples of expanded clay granulates. The effect of the particle size on the acoustic performance of consolidated expanded clays is investigated experimentally and theoretically. This work involves a comparison of the measured and predicted values of the absorption coefficient and normalised acoustic surface impedance data. It is demonstrated that the values of tortuosity and standard deviation in the pore size distribution do not depend significantly on the size of the material aggregate. An empirical expression which links the flow resistivity of the consolidated granular mix has been derived from the measured data. These results pave the way for the development of a simple practical model which will be able to link the acoustic properties of a consolidated granular mix with the characteristic particle dimension and the porosity data. These materials are structurally robust and easy to integrate in buildings and highway structures to control the levels of environmental noise and improve the acoustic quality of spaces. 相似文献

We present a novel ac susceptibility technique for the study of vortex creep in superconducting thin films. With this technique
we study the dynamics of dilute vortices in c-axis oriented Y-123, Hg-1212, and Tl-1212 thin films, as well as a axis oriented Hg-1212 thin films. Results on the Hg-1212 and Tl-1212 thin films indicate that dislocation-mediated plastic
flux creep of single vortices dominates at low temperatures and fields. As the temperature (or the field) is increased, the
increasing vortex-vortex interactions promote a collective behavior, which can be characterized by elastic creep with a non-zero
μ exponent. Also, in some of these samples effects of thermally assisted quantum creep are visible up to 45 K in some of these
samples. In Y-123 thin films, creep is found to be collective down to the lowest temperatures and fields investigated, while
the quantum creep persists only up to 10–11 K. 相似文献

The attenuation of axisymmetric eigenmodes in a cylindrical, elastic, fluid-filled waveguide with a statistically rough elastic wall is studied. It is shown that small perturbation theory can be used to relate explicitly the statistical characteristics of the internal wall surface roughness of an elastic pipe to the attenuation and scattering coefficients of the acoustic modes in the filling fluid. Analytical expressions for modal attenuation coefficients are obtained. The analysis of the frequency dependent attenuation coefficients and the ratio between the roughness correlation length and the inner radius of the pipe is made for different correlation functions of the roughness. It is shown that two scale parameters control the overall behavior of the modal attenuation coefficients. These are the ratios of the roughness correlation length and the inner pipe radius to the acoustic wavelength. The numerical results for sound propagation in a pipe and in a borehole with statistically rough, elastic walls are obtained and discussed. 相似文献
