Strain hardening of polycarbonate in the glassy state: Influence of temperature and molecular weight

This study is concerned with the temperature and molecular weight dependence of the strain-hardening behavior of polycarbonate. It is shown that the strain-hardening modulus reduces with increasing temperature and decreasing molecular weight. This result is interpreted in terms of temperature accelerated relaxation of the entanglement network. Moreover, it is shown that frozen-in orientations, induced by homogeneous deformations above the glass transition temperature, lead to anisotropic yield behavior that can be fully rationalized (and modelled) in terms of a superimposed stress contribution of the prestrained network. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A rapid and sensitive multi-residue method was developed to attempt to confirm the presence of the beta-blocker carazolol and the tranquillizers acepromazine, azaperone, chlorpromazine, propionylpromazine and xylazine in pig muscle tissues. The procedure involves determination by liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry. The liquid chromatographic separation was performed on a Symmetry C18 column with gradient elution. A mixture of aqueous buffer, containing 0.01% m/v trifluoroacetic acid (pH 3.5), and acetonitrile at a flow rate of 0.4 ml min-1 was used as the mobile phase. The abundant parent ions [M+ H+] produced by positive electrospray ionisation were selected for collisional dissociation with argon. Fragment ions were recorded with daughter ion scan and multiple reaction monitoring. The analytes were identified unambiguously by assessing retention times and diagnostic ions in meat samples spiked from 50 micrograms kg-1 [maximum residue limit (MRL) for azaperone and azaperol] to 5 micrograms kg-1 (MRL for carazolol). 相似文献

Stress relaxation after a simple elongational step strain, creep under a constant simple elongational stress, and stress build-up under a constant Hencky strain rate have been measured for ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) fibers. The data from the various experiments are consistent with the Boltzman superposition principle in the experimental region of small strains or short times. This leads to a simple constitutive equation in which temperature can be incorporated via time-temperature superposition. The measured power-law relaxation of the UHMW-PE fiber leads to analytical expressions for the dynamic quantities in simple elongation. The constitutive equation is the one-dimensional equivalent of the gel equation derived for cross-linking gels at the gel point. The similarity between the rheological behavior of fibers and cross-linking gels at the transition point might lead to an enhanced understanding of the molecular processes occurring during deformation. 相似文献

The time‐dependent yield and failure behavior of off‐axis loaded uniaxially oriented polypropylene tape is investigated. The yield and failure behavior is described with an anisotropic viscoplastic model. A viscoplastic flow rule is used with an equivalent stress, based on Hill's anisotropic yield criterion, and the Eyring flow theory combined with a critical equivalent strain definition. This model is based on factorization of the rate and draw ratio dependence and is capable of quantitatively predicting the rate, angle and draw ratio dependence of the yield stress as well as time‐to‐failure in various off‐axis tensile loading conditions characterized solely from the transverse direction. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Many of the datasets encountered in statistics are two-dimensional in nature and can be represented by a matrix. Classical clustering procedures seek to construct separately an optimal partition of rows or, sometimes, of columns. In contrast, co-clustering methods cluster the rows and the columns simultaneously and organize the data into homogeneous blocks (after suitable permutations). Methods of this kind have practical importance in a wide variety of applications such as document clustering, where data are typically organized in two-way contingency tables. Our goal is to offer coherent frameworks for understanding some existing criteria and algorithms for co-clustering contingency tables, and to propose new ones. We look at two different frameworks for the problem of co-clustering. The first involves minimizing an objective function based on measures of association and in particular on phi-squared and mutual information. The second uses a model-based co-clustering approach, and we consider two models: the block model and the latent block model. We establish connections between different approaches, criteria and algorithms, and we highlight a number of implicit assumptions in some commonly used algorithms. Our contribution is illustrated by numerical experiments on simulated and real-case datasets that show the relevance of the presented methods in the document clustering field. 相似文献

Block clustering aims to reveal homogeneous block structures in a data table. Among the different approaches of block clustering, we consider here a model-based method: the Gaussian latent block model for continuous data which is an extension of the Gaussian mixture model for one-way clustering. For a given data table, several candidate models are usually examined, which differ for example in the number of clusters. Model selection then becomes a critical issue. To this end, we develop a criterion based on an approximation of the integrated classification likelihood for the Gaussian latent block model, and propose a Bayesian information criterion-like variant following the same pattern. We also propose a non-asymptotic exact criterion, thus circumventing the controversial definition of the asymptotic regime arising from the dual nature of the rows and columns in co-clustering. The experimental results show steady performances of these criteria for medium to large data tables. 相似文献
