Optical quenching of the magnetoplastic effect in NaCl crystals

Observations indicate that illuminating NaCl crystals by ultraviolet light (λ=350 nm) suppresses the magnetoplastic effect. The processes induced by illumination take place in a subsystem of point defects and are related to a change in the state of magnetically sensitive dislocation pinning sites. Fiz. Tverd. Criteria for the injectivity of analytic sheaves

It is shown that a moduleL over the sheafO of germs of holomorphic functions on a domain G of Cⁿ is injective if and only if the following conditions are satisfied; a)L is flabby; b) for every closed set S ?G and every point z λ G, the stalk se _z of the sheafS ^L;U1→Γ S ^(U:L) is an injectiveO _z -module. It follows in particular that the sheaf of germs of hyperfunctions is injective over the sheaf of germs of analytic functions.     

Hydrodynamic interaction between a flat surface and an evaporating drop in its own superheated vapor in the case of small Reynolds and Knudsen numbers

An expression for the force of interaction between a flat surface and an evaporating drop moving along the normal to this surface is obtained in the approximation of the hydrodynamic lubrication theory. The gap between the surface and the drop is small. The effects of the slip, the temperature jump, and the evaporation rate of the drop on the time of variation of this gap are considered under the assumption that the temperature of the flat surface exceeds the boiling temperature of the drop.     

Nanomechanical control of the activity of enzymes immobilized on single-domain magnetic nanoparticles

Analytical and numerical methods are used to analyze the main regularities of deformation of biologically active molecules caused by the nonthermal effect of low-frequency magnetic field on single-domain magnetic nanoparticles to the surfaces of which the macromolecules are chemically bound.     

Synthesis of substituted 1-[2-(adamantan-1-yl)ethyl]piperidines

Quaternary 1-[2-(adamantan-1-yl)ethyl]pyridinium bromides were reduced with sodium tetrahydridoborate in ethanol, and hydroarylation of the resulting 1-[2-(adamantan-1-yl)ethyl]-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridines with benzene in trifluoromethanesulfonic acid afforded phenylpiperidines with preferentially equatorial orientation of the phenyl substituent.
