Electrohydrodynamic instability in homeotropically oriented nematic samples of 4'-n-octyl-4-cyano-biphenyl and 4'n-alkyloxy-4-cyanobiphenyl, (n = 8.9) have been studied in an a.c. electric field. The domain patterns during the instability in these compounds in a very low frequency a.c. field are very similar to those in a d.c. field. The domain patterns observed at higher frequencies have been identified as 'maltese crosses' or 'crossed isogyres'. The electro-convective 'isotropic' flows near the electrode play an important role in the observed instability.  相似文献

The polymerization of acrylonitrile (M) initiated by the Ce(IV)–acetophenone (AP) redox pair has been studied in acetic–sulfuric acid mixtures in a nitrogen atmosphere. The rate of polymerization is proportional to [M]3/2, [AP]1/2 and [Ce(IV)]1/2. The rate of disappearance of ceric ion,–RCe, is proportional to [AP], [M], and [Ce(IV)]. The effect of certain salts, solvent, acid and temperature on both the rates have been investigated. A suitable kinetic scheme has been proposed, and the composite rate constants kp 2(k/k/t) and k0/ki are reported.  相似文献

In this work, the ternary hybrid structure VSe2/SWCNTs/rGO is reported for supercapacitor applications. The ternary composite exhibits a high specific capacitance of 450 F g−1 in a symmetric cell configuration, with maximum energy density of 131.4 Wh kg−1 and power density of 27.49 kW kg−1. The ternary hybrid also shows a cyclic stability of 91 % after 5000 cycles. Extensive density functional theory (DFT) simulations on the structure as well as on the electronic properties of the binary hybrid structure VSe2/SWCNTs and the ternary hybrid structure VSe2/SWCNTs/rGO have been carried out. Due to a synergic effect, there are enhanced density of states near the Fermi level and higher quantum capacitance for the hybrid ternary structure compared to VSe2/SWCNTs, leading to higher energy and power density for VSe2/SWCNTs/rGO, supporting our experimental observation. Computed diffusion energy barrier of electrolyte ions (K+) predicts that ions move faster in the ternary structure, providing higher charge storage performance.  相似文献

The present investigation aims at estimating the retarding effect of acetophenone in the polymerization of methyl methacrylate initiated by α,α' -azobisisobutyronitrile in the temperature range of 50 to 80°C. The results are interpreted in terms of Tüdös kinetic parameter (β). The effects of varying concentrations of substrate, monomer, initiator, and salts have been investigated. A suitable reaction scheme and rate expression have been suggested on the basis of the experimental findings, and another kinetic parameter (K) to represent the reactivity of acetophenones toward the polymer radical has been obtained graphically.  相似文献

Copper(I) catalysts are usually ineffective on the other hand Pd(II) catalysts are quite effective in promoting intramolecular sp2 C–H functionalization (C–S bond formation). Herein, we have developed a ligand assisted Pd(II) catalyzed C–S bond formation via C–H activation from arylthioureas leading to the formation of 2-aminobenzothiazoles for substrates bearing electron donating (EDG) groups in the aryl ring. However without the assistance of ligand this Pd(II) catalyzed reaction is quite unproductive particularly for thioureas possessing strongly electron donating groups in the aryl rings. Interestingly, the ligand free Cu(II) catalyzed oxidative cyclization of arylthioureas are equally effective both for arylthioureas possessing electron donating as well as electron withdrawing groups in the aryl rings.  相似文献

In the present study, the deposition velocities of 222Rn/220Rn decay products were measured experimentally using SSNTD based passive detectors, direct radon progeny sensor (DRPS) and direct thoron progeny sensor (DTPS) and the results were compared with obtained values by Monte-Carlo simulations. In both cases, deposition velocities were found to be log-normally distributed and also the experimentally measured geometric mean (GM) and geometric standard deviation (GSD) of (0.12, 1.85) m h?1 for radon decay products and (0.07, 1.75) m h?1 for thoron decay products were found to be in good agreement with the simulated values.  相似文献

The prebiotic emergence of molecules capable both of self-replication and of storing information was a defining event at the dawn of life. Still, no plausible prebiotic self-replication of biologically relevant molecules has been demonstrated. Building upon the known templating nature of amyloids, we present two systems in which the products of a peptide-bond-forming reaction act as self-replicators to enhance the yield and stereoselectivity of their formation. This first report of an amino acid condensation that can undergo autocatalysis further supports the potential role of amyloids in prebiotic molecular evolution as an environment-responsive and information-coding system capable of self-replication.  相似文献

MXenes are recently developed two-dimensional layered materials composed of early transition metal carbides and/or nitrides that provide unique characteristics for biosensor applications. This review presents the recent progress made on the usage and applications of MXenes in the field of electrochemical biosensors, including microfluidic biosensors and wearable microfluidic biosensors, and highlights the challenges with possible solutions and future needs. The multilayered configuration and high conductivity make these materials as an immobilization matrix for the biomolecule immobilization with activity retention and to be explored in the fabrication of electrochemical sensors, respectively. First, how the MXene nanocomposite as an electrode modifier affects the sensing performance of the electrochemical biosensors based on enzymes, aptamer/DNA, and immunoassays is well described. Second, recent developments in MXene nanocomposites as wearable biosensing platforms for the biomolecule detection are highlighted. This review pointed out the future concerns and directions for the use of MXene nanocomposites to fabricate advanced electrochemical biosensors with high sensitivity and selectivity. Specifically, possibilities for developing microfluidic electrochemical sensors and wearable electrochemical microfluidic sensors with integrated biomolecule detection are emphasized.  相似文献
