We have made the XAFS measurements at the Cr–K-edge on natural Indian ruby single crystals (corundum) and its two irradiated samples with fluence 1×1012 Ni6+ and 5×1012 Ni6+ ions/cm2. Irradiated samples show interesting changes in their physical appearance. XANES measurements show progressive decrease in Δoct value on increase of Ni fluence in irradiated samples. EXAFS measurements on these samples show decrease in Cr–O distance on increase of Ni fluence. Lowering of Δoct value is correlated with the increase of Cr–O distance.  相似文献

X-ray photoemission measurements have been made on Mg 2p and B 1s core levels from MgB2 as well as on the O 1s core level from the contaminant oxygen. The motivation for this study came for the discrepancy in the reported papers on the energy values of the B 1s and Mg 2p core levels, ostensibly due to the oxygen, present as an impurity, reacting and forming oxides and other compounds. Sputtering leads to a significant reduction of oxygen on and in the sample. The in situ sputter-cleaned sample gives the best results. The measurements are compared with results reported earlier and discrepancies discussed.  相似文献

We have made polarization dependent Extended X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (EXAFS) measurements on a Bi2Sr2Ca1?xPrxCu2O8?δ single crystal in the E//a, E//b and E//a^45° orientations. The results on Cu-K edge and Pr LIII edge EXAFS have been discussed to explain the quenching of superconductivity due to the presence of Pr cation as it was known to destruct the superconductivity by disturbing the local environment around Ca.  相似文献

Designing of a nanoscale Quantum Well (QW) heterostructure with a well thickness of ~60?Å is critical for many applications and remains a challenge. This paper has a detailed study directed towards designing of In0.29Ga0.71As0.99N0.01/GaAs straddled nanoscale-heterostructure having a single QW of thickness ~60?Å and optimization of optical and lasing characteristics such as optical and mode gain, differential gain, gain compression, anti-guiding factor, transparency wavelength, relaxation oscillation frequency (ROF), optical power and their mutual variation behavior. The outcomes of the simulation study imply that for the carrier concentration of ~2?×?1018cm?3 the optical gain of the nano-heterostructure is of 2100?cm?1 at the wavelength is of 1.30?μm. Though the obtained gain is almost half of the gain of InGaAlAs/InP heterostructure, but from the wavelength point of view the InGaAsN/GaAs nano-heterostructure is also more desirable because the 1.30?μm wavelength is attractive due to negligible dispersion in the silica based optical fiber. Hence, the InGaAsN/GaAs nano-heterostructure can be very valuable in optical fiber based communication systems.  相似文献
