The novel NAD+-linked opine dehydrogenase from a soil isolate Arthrobacter sp. strain 1C belongs to an enzyme superfamily whose members exhibit quite diverse substrate specificites. Crystals of this opine dehydrogenase, obtained in the presence or absence of co-factor and substrates, have been shown to diffract to beyond 1.8 ? resolution. X-ray precession photographs have established that the crystals belong to space group P21212, with cell parameters a = 104.9, b = 80.0, c = 45.5 ? and a single subunit in the asymmetric unit. The elucidation of the three-dimensional structure of this enzyme will provide a structural framework for this novel class of dehydrogenases to enable a comparison to be made with other enzyme families and also as the basis for mutagenesis experiments directed towards the production of natural and synthetic opine-type compounds containing two chiral centres.  相似文献

The hydrazides of benzoic, phenyacetic, and 3-phenylpropionic acids react with an acidic solution of formaldehyde to give 15 . Similar treatment of the corresponding methylhydrazides gave 16 . The ethers 15 can be cleaved to give, after methylation, 16 . Spectral data for 15 and 16 are presented.  相似文献

In this Letter we report on lateral diffusion measurements of excitons at low temperature in double quantum wells of various widths. The structure is designed so that excitons live up to 30 micros and diffuse up to 500 microm. Particular attention is given to establishing that the transport occurs by exciton motion. The deduced exciton diffusion coefficients have a very strong well width dependence, and obey the same power law as the diffusion coefficient for electrons.  相似文献

The theoretical and experimental status of the Bose–Einstein Condensation (BEC) of trapped quantum well (QW) polaritons in a microcavity is presented. The results of recent experiments that have shown the possibility to create an in-plane harmonic potential trap for a two-dimensional (2D) exciton polaritons in a cavity are discussed. We report the theory of BEC and of the trapped QW exciton polaritons in a microcavity. In addition, we study the BEC of trapped magnetoexciton polaritons in a graphene layer (GL) embedded in an optical microcavity in high magnetic field. In both cases the polaritons are considered to be in a harmonic potential trap. We compare the theoretical results with the existing experiments and discuss the experimental observation of predicted phenomena.  相似文献

The theory of what happens to a superfluid in a random field, known as the “dirty boson” problem, directly relates to a real experimental system presently under study by several groups, namely excitons in coupled semiconductor quantum wells. We consider the case of bosons in two dimensions in a random field, when the random field can be large compared to the repulsive exciton–exciton interaction energy, but is small compared to the exciton binding energy. The interaction between excitons is taken into account in the ladder approximation. The coherent potential approximation (CPA) allows us to derive the exciton Green's function for a wide range of the random field strength, and in the weak-scattering limit CPA results in the second-order Born approximation. For quasi-two-dimensional excitonic systems, the density of the superfluid component and the Kosterlitz–Thouless temperature of the superfluid phase transition are obtained, and are found to decrease as the random field increases.  相似文献

The result that closed systems evolve toward equilibrium is derived entirely on the basis of quantum field theory for a model system, without invoking any of the common extra-mathematical notions of particle trajectories, collapse of the wave function, measurement, or intrinsically stochastic processes. The equivalent of the Stosszahlansatz of classical statistical mechanics is found, and has important differences from the classical version. A novel result of the calculation is that interacting many-body systems in the infinite volume limit evolve toward diagonal states (states with loss of all phase information) on the time scale of the interaction time. The connection with the onset of off-diagonal phase coherence in Bose condensates is discussed.  相似文献

We have trapped a gas of long-lifetime, high-mobility excitons in an in-plane harmonic potential. Trapping is an important step toward the goal of a controlled Bose-Einstein condensate of excitons. We show that the repulsive interaction between the excitons plays a dominant role in the behavior of the excitons, in contrast with the weak interactions in atomic gases. We show that under proper conditions the excitons thermalize in the trap to a well-defined equilibrium spatial distribution.  相似文献
