The two-neutron halo nucleus (14)Be has been investigated in a kinematically complete measurement of the fragments ((12)Be and neutrons) produced in dissociation at 35 MeV/nucleon on C and Pb targets. Two-neutron removal cross sections, neutron angular distributions, and invariant mass spectra were measured, and the contributions from electromagnetic dissociation (EMD) were deduced. Comparison with three-body model calculations suggests that the halo wave function contains a large nu(2s(1/2))(2) admixture. The EMD invariant mass spectrum exhibited enhanced strength near threshold consistent with a nonresonant soft-dipole excitation.  相似文献

Heavy neutron-rich nuclei have been populated through the relativistic fragmentation of a $\ensuremath ^{208}_{\ 82}{\rm Pb}$ beam at $\ensuremath E/A = 1$ GeV on a $\ensuremath 2.5 {\rm g/cm^2}$ thick Be target. The synthesised nuclei were selected and identified in-flight using the fragment separator at GSI. Approximately 300 ns after production, the selected nuclei were implanted in an $\ensuremath \sim 8$ mm thick perspex stopper, positioned at the centre of the RISING $\ensuremath \gamma$ -ray detector spectrometer array. A previously unreported isomer with a half-life $\ensuremath T_{1/2} = 163(5)$ ns has been observed in the N = 126 closed-shell nucleus $\ensuremath ^{205}_{\ 79}{\rm Au}$ . Through $ \gamma$ -ray singles and $ \gamma$ - $ \gamma$ coincidence analysis a level scheme was established. The comparison with a shell model calculation tentatively identifies the spin-parity of the excited states, including the isomer itself, which is found to be $\ensuremath I^{\pi} = (19/2^+)$ .  相似文献

The breaking of the N=8 shell-model magic number in the 12Be ground state has been determined to include significant occupancy of the intruder d-wave orbital. This is in marked contrast with all other N=8 isotones, both more and less exotic than 12Be. The occupancies of the [FORMULA: SEE TEXT]orbital and the [FORMULA: SEE TEXT], intruder orbital were deduced from a measurement of neutron removal from a high-energy 12Be beam leading to bound and unbound states in 11Be.  相似文献

The nuclear break-up of 6He on a 208Pb target was studied at 20A MeV using a secondary beam of 6He produced by the SPIRAL facility at GANIL. $ \alpha$ -particles were detected in coincidence with two neutrons with a large angular coverage and the reaction mechanism was identified. From the distribution of the relative angles between the two neutrons the correlation function was extracted. It shows a strong correlation at small relative angles attributed to the contribution of the di-neutron configuration of 6He .  相似文献

The breakup of24Mg into16O and8Be fragments has been studied using the reactions12C(24Mg,16O8Be)12C and12C(20Ne,16O8Be)8Be. In the latter case, discrete states are observed near 24–28 MeV of excitation in24Mg and the yield from this reaction is an order of magnitude greater than that of the former. This implies the excited configuration populated in24Mg is favoured by the transfer of an alpha-particle and would therefore suggest an association with a 4-particle 4-hole configuration. This suggests a link with the octupole stabilised deformed minimum which appears in Nilsson-Strutinsky calculations of the potential energy surface in24Mg, and also with theα16O —α structure predicted in cranked cluster model calculations. In the excitation spectrum no states appear above 31 MeV indicating a possible band termination in disagreement with recent results using the16O+12C reaction. These results are discussed in terms of the Harvey model.  相似文献
