Interpolatory integration rules and orthogonal polynomials with varying weights

We investigate which types of asymptotic distributions can be generated by the knots of convergent sequences of interpolatory integration rules. It will turn out that the class of all possible distributions can be described exactly, and it will be shown that the zeros of polynomials that are orthogonal with respect to varying weight functions are good candidates for knots of integration rules with a prescribed asymptotic distribution.Research supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (AZ: Sta 299/4-2).     

Synthesis and crystallographic characterization of a dicyclopentadienylvanadium alkynide complex: (C5H5)2VCCC(CH3)3

(C₅H₅)₂VCl reacts with LiCCC(CH₃)₃ to form (C₅H₅)₂VCCC(CH₃)₃ which was characterized by spectroscopic, analytical, and crystallographic methods. The complex crystallizes from pentane at 0°C as a monomer in the orthorhombic space group Pnma with four molecules in a unit cell of dimensions a 9.075(3), b 9.807(3), c 16.444(5) Å. Full-matrix least-squares refinement based upon 1300 nonzero intensity data converged to a final conventional R factor of 0.060. The molecule has a mean VC₅H₅-ring centroid distance of 1.941 Å with 146.6° ring centroid-V-ring centroid angle. The vanadium alkynide carbon distance is 2.075(5) Å.     

Indirect electrochemical methods of nitration: Novel nitroacetamidation of dienes

Solutions of nitronium tetrafluoroborate in acetonitrile prepared by anodic oxidation of nitrogen dioxide, efficiently nitrate aromatics, enolsilyethers, alkenes and conjugated dienes to afford respectively nitroaromatics, α-nitroketones, vicinal nitroamides and mixtures of nitroacetamides by 1,2- and 1,4-addition.     

Reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatographic tryptic digest peptide map comparisons of monoclonal antibodies to human tumor necrosis factor.

An automatic computer technique was used to compare the retention times and ultraviolet spectra of sixty-two peaks in peptide maps of three monoclonal antibodies against human tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and one monoclonal antibody against recombinant factor VIII. The anti-TNF monoclonal, B6, which has an overlapping epitope with the anti-TNF monoclonal, A10G10, had a 90% peak match with A10G10. The anti-TNF monoclonal, A6, with a different epitope to TNF than A10G10, had only a 60% peak match. The A6 match to A10G10 was similar to the 50% peak match of the anti-factor VIII monoclonal with A10G10. The results of this study suggest that peptide mapping can be used as a quantitative characterization technique for comparing monoclonal antibodies.
