On the Determination of the Absolute Intensities of Vibrational-Rotational Lines of XY3 Molecules with C 3v Symmetry

Analytical formulas are derived that describe the dependences of the transition probabilities in vibrational-rotational spectra of XY₃-type molecules with C _3v symmetry on the rotational quantum numbers.     

High-Resolution Infrared Study of PHD2: The P-H Stretching Bands ν1 and 2ν1

For the first time the infrared spectrum of PHD₂ was recorded in the region of the PH stretching fundamental ν₁ at 2324.005 cm⁻¹ and the overtone 2ν₁ at 4563.634 cm⁻¹ with a resolution of 4.2×10⁻³ cm⁻¹ and 8.8×10⁻³ cm⁻¹, respectively. In the analyses about 1340 and 1020 transitions were assigned to the corresponding ν₁ and 2ν₁ bands, which provided 316 and 248 upper energies, respectively. Since both the bands are sufficiently isolated, a standard Watson-type Hamiltonian (A-reduction, I^r-representation) was employed. The obtained sets of spectroscopic parameters correlate very well both with each other, and with the corresponding parameters of the ground vibrational state.     

High-Resolution Study of the First Hexad of D(2)O

The high-resolution Fourier transform spectra of the D(2)O molecule have been recorded and assigned in the 4200-5700 cm(-1) region where the vibration-rotation bands 2nu(1), 2nu(3), nu(1) + nu(3), nu(1) + 2nu(2), 2nu(2) + nu(3), and 4nu(2) are located. The presence of numerous and very strong accidental perturbations between the states of the hexad makes it necessary to take into account not only ordinary resonance interactions of the Fermi, Darling-Dennison, and/or Coriolis types, but interactions between the states (v(1)v(2)v(3)) and (v(1) -/+ 2v(2) +/- 2v(3) +/- 1) as well. Parameters of all six vibrational states of the hexad were obtained from the fit of experimental energy values. Copyright 2000 Academic Press.     

High resolution study of the six lowest doubly excited vibrational states of PH2D

The five lowest doubly excited deformational vibrational bands ν₄ + ν₆, 2ν₆, ν₃ + ν₄, ν₃ + ν₆, and 2ν₃ of PH₂D have been recorded for the first time using a Bruker 120 HR interferometer with a resolution 0.0033 cm⁻¹ and analysed. Some transitions belonging to a very weak band 2ν₄ have been also assigned. From the fit 24 and 86, respectively, diagonal and resonance interaction parameters were obtained which reproduce 1089 upper energy levels obtained from more than 4600 assigned transitions with the rms deviation of 0.00059 cm⁻¹.     

An analysis of a superweak absorption spectrum of the SO<Subscript>2</Subscript> molecule using the variational procedure

The high resolution structure of a superweak 2ν₁+ν₂+ν₃−ν₂ band of sulfur dioxide, SO₂, is for the first time recorded with a Bruker IFS-120 HR Fourier spectrometer and analyzed using a specially derived procedure and a relevant computer code. As a result of the analysis, 115 lines have been found in the recorded spectrum, which allowed us to obtain high-accuracy values of the vibrational energy and rotational parameters of the highly excited vibrational state, (211).
