A simple technique for surface labeling of solids with222Rn and its short-lived decay products

A simple radioactive labeling technique is described which is based on a recoil injection of atoms of²²²Rn and its decay products from a²²⁶Ra source into thin surface layers of solids.     

Protection of immobilized sulfhydryl groups against autooxidation by alterations in their microenvironment

Immobilized sulfhydryl groups were prepared by partial thiolation of NH₂-glass beads. The microenvironment of the immobilized SH groups was varied by different chemical modifications of neighboring NH₂ groups. Introduction of a strong charge in the surroundings of immobilized sulfhydryls results in their dramatic stabilization against autooxidation. This effect is due to the salting of O₂ from the surface microlayer of the thiolated beads.     

Boson realization of YangiansY(sl(2)) andY(sl(3))

Studying the algebraic structure of the YangiansY(sl(2)), andY(sl(3)) we present their boson realizations. In the case ofY(sl(2)) we give the realization by using 1-canonical boson pair and two parameters and in theY(sl(3)) with 2-canonical boson pairs, two parameters and subalgebrasl(2). Substituting the realization ofU(sl(2)), we can obtain the pure boson realization by 3-canonical pairs and three parameters.Presented at the 4th Colloquium Quantum Groups and Integrable Systems, Prague, 22–24 June 1995.     

Zur Chemie in Schmelzlösungen. V. Darstellung kristalliner Halogenowolframate und Halogenomolybdate MeO · MeWO4 · nMeX2 bzw · MeO · MeMoO4 · nMeX2

Preparation and crystal growth of halogenotungstates and halogenomolybdates from molten salt solutions are described. Characteristic properties of this new class of compounds are communicated.     

Highest-weight representations ofsl(2, ℂ) andsl(3, ℂ) via canonical realizations

The infinite-dimensional representations of thesl(n+1, ) Lie algebras (maximal representations) constructed in our previous paper are studied on the two simplest examplesn = 1,2. The sufficient condition for irreducibility of the maximal representations is proved to be also necessary in these cases. It is further shown, that our method allows us to construct other set of infinite-dimensional highest-weight representations ofsl(3, ), so calledmixed representations which are irreducible in some cases when the maximal as well as the standard highest-weight representations (Verma modules) are reducible.Dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research.The authors are grateful to Prof. A. Analysis of dopamine D4 receptor gene polymorphism using microchip electrophoresis

A microfabricated electrophoresis device was used for rapid polymerase chain reaction product analysis in genotyping the dopamine D4 receptor gene (DRD4) 48 base pairs repeat polymorphism. An allelic ladder, prepared from homozygous individuals, was used as internal standard during the microchip electrophoresis based analysis. Comparison of this novel separation method with the conventional slab gel and previously reported ultra-thin-layer techniques confirmed the reliability of this new method. Genotyping of 332 healthy Hungarian individuals gave the following allele frequencies: two-repeat: 0.089; three-repeat: 0.026; four-repeat: 0.674; five-repeat: 0.011; six-repeat: 0.002; seven-repeat: 0.189; eight-repeat: 0.011. The genotype frequencies obtained showed no deviation from the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (p>0.903), further underlying the reliability of this new genotyping technique.
