The computation of long wave propagation through the ocean obviously depends on the initial condition. When the waves are generated by a moving bottom, a traditional approach consists in translating the ‘frozen’ sea bed deformation to the free surface and propagating it. The present study shows the differences between the classical approach (passive generation) and the active generation where the bottom motion is included. The analytical solutions presented here exhibit some of the drawbacks of passive generation. In order to avoid stimulated Brillouin scattering and smooth the final focal spot that reaches the D-T capsule, spectral broadening is essential. However, the modulation of spectral structure might result in frequency-to-amplitude modulation (FM-to-AM) conversion. The spatial filter pinhole is used to cut off the high-frequency transmission laser, and to ensure the desired pass. Improper parameter of pinhole would lead a negative impact. Using the spatial filter pinhole, we analyze the characteristic of intensity modulation using several pinholes of improper parameters. We then compare these results with the intensity modulation obtained from an experiment. Experimental diagnosis and design of an appropriate pinhole parameter would be highly beneficial to the field of high-power lasers. 相似文献

Based on the theory of quasi-three-level rate equations modified by amplified spontaneous emission,the stored energy density and the small signal gain of the cryogenic Yb:YAG regenerative amplifier for a given geometry for pulsed pumping in three dimensions are theoretically studied using the Monte Carlo simulation.The present model provides a straightforward procedure to design the Yb:YAG parameters and the optical coupling system for optimization when running at cryogenic temperature.A fiber-coupled laser diode end-pumped cryogenic Yb:YAG regenerative amplifier running at 1 030 nm is demonstrated with a maximum output energy 10.2 mJ at a repetition rate of 10 Hz.A very good agreement between the experiments and the theoretical model is achieved. 相似文献

A high-efficiency hybrid Brillouin/ytterbium fiber laser (BYFL) is demonstrated using a 41.5-cm-longhighly ytterbium-doped fiber and a 10-m-long single-mode optical fiber. The BYFL operates at 1 052.92nm, and the difference between it and the Brillouin pump (BP) wavelength matches the expected stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) Stokes shift. Its output power reaches 70.1 mW, which is more than seven times higher than the seeded BP power. The BYFL has an optical signal-to-noise ratio that is greater than 65 dB and has many potential applications, such as in controllable optical delay lines, sensing, and RF photonics. 相似文献

Optical imaging using fluorescent contrast agents has become an interesting tool to differentiate diseased lesions from normal tissue. However, several sensitivity characterizations may strongly influence the time-dependent fluorescence measurements. Herein, we present a numerical model based on the finite element method that allows the simulation of time-resolved reflectance and transmittance signals from heterogeneous media mimicking breast tissues with an embedded fluorescent object (tumor). The influence, on the computed signals, of several tumor depths, as well as various fluorophore concentrations and several fluorescent markers targeting are analyzed. The results show the possibility of uncoupling location depth from the shape of the target. Therefore, the analysis of the time to reach half the maximum intensity is validated as a good localization scheme. Then, the transmitted data show that the maximal detected intensity at the bottom of the medium is very sensitive to the dye concentration but not to the tumor shape. Moreover, the strong competition between concentration determination and fluorophore distribution is presented. These results will lead to a better detection and localization of tumors. 相似文献

Oyster farming structures are artificial obstacles which disturb tidal flow and wave propagation. These effects can induce modifications of erosion and sedimentation patterns, turbidity changes, local silting up and can be threatening for the shellfish farming itself. The understanding of the impact of these structures in terms of hydrodynamics and sediment dynamics in the far-field, i.e. at the scale of a bay, is a very challenging task.In order to investigate the far-field impact, it is very important to understand in the first place all the changes which occur at a smaller scale, i.e. at the scale of a single table for a farm consisting of oyster tables made of metallic wire structures on which porous bags of oysters are laid. This work is carried out through the idealized representation of the in-situ flow in a free surface flume tank. The flow characteristics around the overall structure are determined from velocity measurements obtained by laser velocimetry. The results highlight an asymmetric development of the boundary layers which suggest the existence of preferential areas for silting up and suspended matter fragmentation under the table. 相似文献

The modeling of tsunami generation is an essential phase in understanding tsunamis. For tsunamis generated by underwater earthquakes,
it involves the modeling of the sea bottom motion as well as the resulting motion of the water above. A comparison between
various models for three-dimensional water motion, ranging from linear theory to fully nonlinear theory, is performed. It
is found that for most events the linear theory is sufficient. However, in some cases, more-sophisticated theories are needed.
Moreover, it is shown that the passive approach in which the seafloor deformation is simply translated to the ocean surface
is not always equivalent to the active approach in which the bottom motion is taken into account, even if the deformation
is supposed to be instantaneous.

The preparation of new molecular hybrids consisting of CdSe semiconductor nanocrystals, surface-functionalized with conductive
and electrochemically active oligothiophene ligands, is described. Specially synthesized aniline-terminated oligoalkylthiophenes
containing one, two, or four thiophene units were used for the grafting on CdSe nanocrystals, previously surface-functionalized
with 4-formyldithiobenzoate. The electrochemical activity of both the inorganic and the organic parts of the hybrid was investigated
by cyclic voltammetry. The oxidative doping of the organic part of the hybrid is irreversible, contrary to the case of the
“free” non-grafted ligand which shows reversible doping. Furthermore, the electrochemical doping of the surface ligands, occurring
at lower potentials than the oxidation of the nanocrystals, perturbs the latter process via charging of the ligands followed by slow relaxation processes.

A special-velocity-matched electro-optic(EO) phase modulator employing a microwave resonant design in lithium niobate is presented.Both the microwave property and phase-modulation performances of the 3.25-GHz modulator agree well with the numerical simulations.Using this modulator in a single-pass configuration with 1-kW microwave drive power,the spectral bandwidth of a 1 053-nm,3-ns pulse-length laser is broadened to 0.13 nm.With a clear aperture of 5×5(mm),the modulator is suited for twodimensional smoothing by spectral dispersion in high power laser systems. 相似文献
