Phenyl derivatives of 2-pyrone

Several phenyl dichloropentadienyl ketones containing a hydroxy or methoxy group in the benzene ring as well as a number of 2-pyrones based on them were synthesized. Synthesis of new chiral amidophosphite ligands and their application in hydrogenation of benzodiazepinones and enamides

New chiral amidophosphites were synthesized and tested in the Ir-catalyzed hydrogenation of 4-substituted 1,3-dihydro-2H-1,5-benzodiazepin-2-ones and Rh-catalyzed hydrogenation of dehydro amino acid derivatives. The triphenylphosphine additive can considerably increase the enantioselectivity of both processes.     

Iodination of 6-aryl-2-pyrones

The iodination of 6-aryl-2-pyrones with iodine chloride in glacial acetic acid leads to the corresponding 3-iodo derivatives. 3-Cyano-6-phenyl-2-pyrone and 3-phenylethynyl-6-phenyl-2-pyrone were obtained by replacement of the iodo group by cyano and phenylethynyl groups.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 5, pp. 616–618, May, 1884.     

Asymmetric Ir-catalyzed hydrogenation of 1,3-dihydro-2<Emphasis Type="Italic">H</Emphasis>-1,5-benzodiazepin-2-ones using phosphoramidites

A series of phosphoramidite ligands was tested in the asymmetric hydrogenation of 4-arylsubstituted 1,3-dihydro-2H-benzodiazepine-2-ones and up to 52% ee was achieved. The effects of various factors (solvents, hydrogen pressure, and addition of phosphine ligands) on the hydrogenation were studied.     

Stereoselective synthesis of 1,3-disubstituted phthalans by cyclization of (1<Emphasis Type="Italic">S</Emphasis>)-1-{2-[hydroxy(diaryl)methyl]phenyl}ethanols

Cyclization of pure enantiomers of 1-{2-[hydroxy(diaryl)methyl]phenyl}ethanol proceeds stereoselectively and affords 1,3-disubstituted 1,3-dihydroisobenzofurans (phthalans) in moderate-to-high enantiomeric (81.7% ee) or diastereomeric (72% de) purity.
