This article deals with the problem of probabilistic prediction of the time distance to default for a firm. To model the credit risk, the dynamics of an asset is described as a function of a homogeneous discrete time Markov chain subject to a catastrophe, the default. The behaviour of the Markov chain is investigated and the mean time to the default is expressed in a closed form. The methodology to estimate the parameters is given. Numerical results are provided to illustrate the applicability of the proposed model on real data and their analysis is discussed.  相似文献

The efficient modeling of execution price path of an asset to be traded is an important aspect of the optimal trading problem. In this paper an execution price path based on the second order autoregressive process is proposed. The proposed price path is a generalization of the existing first order autoregressive price path in literature. Using dynamic programming method the analytical closed form solution of unconstrained optimal trading problem under the second order autoregressive process is derived. However in order to incorporate non-negativity constraints in the problem formulation, the optimal static trading problems under second order autoregressive price process are formulated. For a risk neutral investor, the optimal static trading problem of minimizing expected execution cost subject to non-negativity constraints is formulated as a quadratic programming problem. Whereas, for a risk averse investor the variance of execution cost is considered as a measure for the timing risk, and the mean–variance problem is formulated. Moreover, the optimal static trading problem subject to stochastic dominance constraints with mean–variance static trading strategy as the reference strategy is studied. Using Static approximation method the algorithm to solve proposed optimal static trading problems is presented. With numerical illustrations conducted on simulated data and the real market data, the significance of second order autoregressive price path, and the optimal static trading problems is presented.  相似文献

This study investigates the pricing problem of a variable annuity (VA) contract embedded with a guaranteed lifetime withdrawal benefit (GLWB) rider. VAs are annuities in which the value is linked to a bond and equity sub-account fund. The guaranteed lifetime withdrawal benefit rider regularly provides a series of payments to the policyholder for the term of the policy while he/she is alive, regardless of portfolio performance. At the time of the policyholder's death, the remaining fund value is given to his nominee. Therefore, proper fund modeling is critical in the pricing of VA products. Several writers in the literature used a GBM model in which variance is considered to be constant to represent the fund value in a variable annuity contract. However, on the other hand, the returns on financial assets are non-normally distributed in real life. A bit much Kurtosis, leverage effect, and Non-zero Skewness characterize the returns. The generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedastic (GARCH) models are also used for presenting a discrete framework for the pricing of GLWB. Still, the interest rate was kept constant without including the surrender benefit and the static withdrawal approach, which keeps the model far from the real scenario. Thus, in this research, the generalized GARCH models are used with surrender benefit and dynamic withdrawal strategy to develop a time series model for the pricing of annuity that overcomes the constraints of previous models. A numerical illustration and sensitivity analysis are used to examine the suggested model.  相似文献
