<Emphasis Type="Italic">In situ</Emphasis> analysis of the formation steps of gold nanoparticles by oleylamine reduction

A colloidal solution of gold nanoparticles is synthesized with the use of sodium tetrachloroaurate(III) as a precursor, oleylamine as a reducer and surfactant, and 1-octadecene as a solvent. Reaction stages are analyzed in situ by optical (UV-vis) absorption spectroscopy with a simultaneous analysis of particle sizes by dynamic light scattering and X-ray absorption near edge spectroscopy for the analysis of the gold oxidation state. After the synthesis the size of obtained nanoparticles is determined by transmission electron microscopy. The analysis of the obtained experimental data reveals the presence of three main steps in the reduction reaction mechanism, corresponding to Au³⁺, Au⁺, Au⁰, which enables the construction of the reaction model. The reaction mechanism involves the formation of gold(I) complexes with oleylamine, followed by polymerization and the formation of gold nanoclusters coated with oleylamine.     

Preparation,Structure, and Dielectric and Magnetic Properties of SrFe<Subscript>2/3</Subscript>W<Subscript>1/3</Subscript>O<Subscript>3</Subscript> Ceramics

Polycrystalline samples of SrFe_2/3W_1/3O₃ (SFWO) ceramic were obtained by solid-phase reactions with subsequent sintering using conventional ceramic technology. X-ray diffraction analysis showed that at room temperature, the SFWO ceramic is single-phase and has a perovskite-type structure with tetragonal symmetry and parameters a = 3.941(9) Å, c = 3.955(6) Å, and c/a = 1.0035. In studying the magnetic properties and the Mössbauer effect in SFWO ceramics, it is found that the material is a ferrimagnet, and the iron ions are only in the valence state of Fe³⁺. It is suggested that in the temperature range of T = 150–210°C, a smeared phase transition from a cubic (paraelectric) phase to a tetragonal (ferroelectric) phase takes place in SFWO with decreasing temperature.
