Kalman filtering of a space-time Markov random field

In this paper, finite-dimensional recursive filters for space-time Markov random fields are derived. These filters can be used with the expectation maximization (EM) algorithm to yield maximum likelihood estimates of the parameters of the model.     

Measure change techniques in optimal control

Fully and partially observed stochastic control of systems with nonlinear dynamics and terminal and running costs are considered. Measure changes are introduced which allow both state and observation dynamics to be thought of as linear. In the case when the terms of the cost have a special form the measure change transformation “cancels out” the nonlinearities and changes the original nonlinear problem into a classical LQG one and standard results can be applied. We also consider unnormalized conditional densities of the whole path as state variables and obtain dynamic programming and verification results. R. J. Taming the Reactivity of Phosphiranium Salts: Site-Selective C-Centered Ring Opening for Direct Synthesis of Phosphinoethylamines

Advances in the field of phosphorus chemistry are documented, by revealing the synthetic utility of previously underutilized quaternary phosphiranium salts (QPrS) as three-chain-atom electrophilic building blocks. Notably, control of their challenging C-centered electrophilicity is disclosed with an expedient synthesis of tertiary β-anilino phosphines as a proof-of-concept.     

Chemical composition of the essential oil of Cachrys libanotis from Algeria

The essential oil of aerial parts of Cachrys libanotis L. (Apiaceae) from east Algeria was extracted by hydrodistillation and analyzed by GC-FID and GC-MS. Thirty-one compounds were identified, the main components being germacrene-D (18.0%), gamma-terpinene (6.4%), p-cymene (5.5%), caryophyllene oxide (5.1%), and limonene (5.1%).
