To accomplish the controlled‐release systems based on layered clay minerals, one of the best ways is to intercalate organic molecules into the interlayer gallery of clay minerals. Into a series of chitosan (CS) intercalated montmorillonite (MMT) nanocomposites, prepared via ion‐exchange route, antimalarial drug [quinine (QUI)] was loaded to act as effective drug delivery systems. Among the CS–MMT nanocomposites, higher drug adsorption with decreasing CS concentration was observed. CS–MMT and CS–MMT/QUI intercalated compounds were characterized by powder X‐ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and thermal analysis. The synthesized nanocomposites, filled in the gelatin capsules followed by coating of Eudragit® L 100, were tested for in vitro drug release performance in the sequential buffer environments at 37 ± 0.5 °C. As no drug release (0%) was observed in the gastric fluid, the coating of Eudragit® L 100 to the capsules is highly adequate. However, the drug release rate was comparatively faster from the CS intercalated clay with compare with pure clay. The drug release kinetic data revealed that the release of QUI from the nanocomposites can be explained by modified Freundlich model. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Summary. The electrochemical behaviour of chlorpromazine has been examined in phosphate buffers in aqueous as well as micellar media
at a pyrolytic graphite electrode surface. Two oxidation peaks were obtained in linear sweep voltammetry of chlorpromazine.
The first peak corresponds to the formation of the cationic free radical, which on further 1e−-oxidation gives a dication. The spectroscopic changes and kinetics of the cationic free radical and dication species generated
during electrooxidation of chlorpromazine were investigated in both media. The decay of the dication was studied chronoamperometrically
and was found to follow first-order kinetics with a half-life of ∼25 ms. Surfactants affect both E
p and i

In the recent past, there have been several initiatives by major software companies, such as Microsoft, to lead the industry towards electronic software distribution. In this paper, we use a monopoly pricing model to examine the optimal pricing strategies for ‘selling’ and ‘pay-per-use’ licensing of packaged software over the Internet. Traditionally, software distribution included outright sale as well as short/long term renting. With the Internet fast becoming a prevalent mode for disseminating software, a customer can download and use software on a need-by-need basis. For the software vendor, offering the pay-per-use option to the consumer provides for a steady source of revenue and obviates the need for physical distribution, purchasing and inventory management mishaps. We examine the following issues in this paper: (i) what are the extra benefits to the software vendor for providing the pay-per-use option?; and (ii) does the market size change? The contribution of this paper is to show that pay-per-use is a viable alternative for a large number of customers, and that judicious pricing for pay-per-use is profitable for the software vendor. 相似文献

ZnS nanoparticles were synthesized in four component "water in oil" microemulsions formed by a cationic surfactant (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, CTAB), a cosurfactant (pentanol or butanol), n-hexane and water. The effect of various parameters (nature of cosurfactant, water/surfactant W(0), and alcohol/surfactant P(0)) on the formation and stability of ZnS nanoparticles was investigated thoroughly. UV-Vis spectroscopy was employed to directly follow the formation of ZnS systems in the microemulsions. Thus, particle size was estimated from the position of the first excitonic transition by employing an approximate finite-depth equation and an empirical correlation, giving average diameters in the ranges 2.3-2.5 and 3.0-3.5nm, respectively. Stable ZnS nanoparticles were obtained by employing low water and high cosurfactant amounts. This suggests that at high concentration the cosurfactant molecules act as capping agents on the surface of the inverse micelles, while low water amounts are needful to obtain water droplets with a radius close to that of the interfacial film spontaneous curvature. HRTEM analysis showed that the samples are formed by a few crystalline ZnS nanoparticles of spherical shape, embedded in and amorphous organic matrix, with a coherent scattering domain between 2 and 4nm. 相似文献

A simple, convenient, and efficient one‐pot synthesis of fully substituted pyrimidines was developed by cyclocondensation of α‐oxo ketene dithioacetals with amidine in the presence of potassium carbonate in good yield. Structures of all the newly synthesized compounds were elucidated by elemental analysis and spectral analysis. All the newly synthesized compounds are tested toward different microorganisms. 相似文献

We investigate the interesting focal properties of phase modulation azimuthally polarized annular multi Gaussian beam employing a high numerical aperture (NA) lens on the basis of vector diffraction theory. We observe that our proposed system generates a sub wavelength focal hole of \(0.43 \uplambda \) having large uniform focal depth of \(84 \uplambda \) . This kind of nondiffracting focal hole is called dark channel, which may have applications in atom optical experiments, such as with atomic lenses, atom traps, and atom switches. 相似文献

Two stable nanofluids comprising of mixed valent copper(I,II) oxide clusters (<1 nm) suspended in 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate, [C(4)mim][OAc], and copper(II) oxide nanoparticles (<50 nm) suspended in trioctyl(dodecyl)phosphonium acetate, [P(8 8 8 12)][OAc], were synthesised in a facile one-pot reaction from solutions of copper(II) acetate hydrate in the corresponding ionic liquids. Formation of the nanostructures was studied using (13)C NMR spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). From a solution of Cu(OAc)(2) in 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate, [C(2)mim][OAc], crystals were obtained that revealed the structure of [C(2)mim][Cu(3)(OAc)(5)(OH)(2)(H(2)O)]·H(2)O, indicating the formation of copper hydroxo-clusters in the course of the reaction. Synthesised nanostructures were studied using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Physical properties of the prepared IL-nanofluids were examined using IR and UV-VIS spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and densitometry. 相似文献

Liquids under confinement exhibit different properties compared with their corresponding bulk phases, for example, miscibility, phase transitions, and diffusion. The underlying cause is the local ordering of molecules, which is usually only studied using pure simulation methods. Herein, we derive experimentally the structure of benzene confined in MCM‐41 using total neutron scattering measurements. The study reveals a layering of molecules across a pore, and four concentric cylindrical shells can be distinguished for a pore with the radius of 18 Å. The nanoscale confinement of the liquid has a major effect on the spatial and orientational correlations observed between the molecules, when compared with the structure of the bulk liquid. These differences are most marked for molecules in parallel configurations, and this suggests differences in chemical reactivity between the confined and bulk liquids. 相似文献

Abstract— Lysozyme undergoes conformational changes when exposed to visible light in the presence of methylene blue. Ultracentrifugation, gel filtration and end group analysis showed that no peptide bond was cleaved. About 30 per cent of the tryptophan residues were, however, modified. The enzymic activity decreased by 50 per cent. The sedimentation coefficient and helical content decreased; the extinction in the u.v. region between 185 to 210 nm increased. The photooxidized enzyme was more susceptible to trypsinolysis than the native enzyme. 相似文献
