In this paper we establish general formulas for the subdifferential of the pointwise supremum of convex functions, which cover and unify both the compact continuous and the non-compact non-continuous settings. From the non-continuous to the continuous setting, we proceed by a compactification-based approach which leads us to problems having compact index sets and upper semi-continuously indexed mappings, giving rise to new characterizations of the subdifferential of the supremum by means of upper semicontinuous regularized functions and an enlarged compact index set. In the opposite sense, we rewrite the subdifferential of these new regularized functions by using the original data, also leading us to new results on the subdifferential of the supremum. We give two applications in the last section, the first one concerning the nonconvex Fenchel duality, and the second one establishing Fritz-John and KKT conditions in convex semi-infinite programming.

We give different conditions for the invariance of closed sets with respect to differential inclusions governed by a maximal monotone operator defined on Hilbert spaces, which is subject to a Lipschitz continuous perturbation depending on the state. These sets are not necessarily weakly closed as in [3], [4], while the invariance criteria are still written by using only the data of the system. So, no need to the explicit knowledge of neither the solution of this differential inclusion, nor the semi-group generated by the maximal monotone operator. These invariant/viability results are next applied to derive explicit criteria for a-Lyapunov pairs of lower semi-continuous (not necessarily weakly-lsc) functions associated to these differential inclusions. The lack of differentiability of the candidate Lyapunov functions and the consideration of general invariant sets (possibly not convex or smooth) are carried out by using techniques from nonsmooth analysis.  相似文献

We give a necessary and sufficient condition for a difference of convex (DC, for short) functions, defined on a normed space, to be Lipschitz continuous. Our criterion relies on the intersection of the ε-subdifferentials of the involved functions.  相似文献

Starting from explicit expressions for the subdifferential of the conjugate function, we establish in the Banach space setting some integration results for the so-called epi-pointed functions. These results use the ε-subdifferential and the Fenchel subdifferential of an appropriate weak lower semicontinuous (lsc) envelope of the initial function. We apply these integration results to the construction of the lsc convex envelope either in terms of the ε-subdifferential of the nominal function or of the subdifferential of its weak lsc envelope.  相似文献

We give a full characterization of nonsmooth Lyapunov pairs for perturbed sweeping processes under very general hypotheses. As a consequence, we provide an existence result and a criterion for weak invariance for perturbed sweeping processes. Moreover, we characterize Lyapunov pairs for gradient complementarity dynamical systems.  相似文献

This paper deals with a parametric family of convex semi-infinite optimization problems for which linear perturbations of the objective function and continuous perturbations of the right-hand side of the constraint system are allowed. In this context, Cánovas et al. (SIAM J. Optim. 18:717–732, [2007]) introduced a sufficient condition (called ENC in the present paper) for the strong Lipschitz stability of the optimal set mapping. Now, we show that ENC also entails high stability for the minimal subsets of indices involved in the KKT conditions, yielding a nice behavior not only for the optimal set mapping, but also for its inverse. Roughly speaking, points near optimal solutions are optimal for proximal parameters. In particular, this fact leads us to a remarkable simplification of a certain expression for the (metric) regularity modulus given in Cánovas et al. (J. Glob. Optim. 41:1–13, [2008]) (and based on Ioffe (Usp. Mat. Nauk 55(3):103–162, [2000]; Control Cybern. 32:543–554, [2003])), which provides a key step in further research oriented to find more computable expressions of this regularity modulus. This paper deals with the stability of linear semi-infinite programming (LSIP, for short) problems. We characterize those LSIP problems from which we can obtain, under small perturbations in the data, different types of problems, namely, inconsistent, consistent unsolvable, and solvable problems. The problems of this class are highly unstable and, for this reason, we say that they are totally ill-posed. The characterization that we provide here is of geometrical nature, and it depends exclusively on the original data (i.e., on the coefficients of the nominal LSIP problem). Our results cover the case of linear programming problems, and they are mainly obtained via a new formula for the subdifferential mapping of the support function.  相似文献

This paper characterizes the calmness property of the argmin mapping in the framework of linear semi-infinite optimization problems under canonical perturbations; i.e., continuous perturbations of the right-hand side of the constraints (inequalities) together with perturbations of the objective function coefficient vector. This characterization is new for semi-infinite problems without requiring uniqueness of minimizers. For ordinary (finitely constrained) linear programs, the calmness of the argmin mapping always holds, since its graph is piecewise polyhedral (as a consequence of a classical result by Robinson). Moreover, the so-called isolated calmness (corresponding to the case of unique optimal solution for the nominal problem) has been previously characterized. As a key tool in this paper, we appeal to a certain supremum function associated with our nominal problem, not involving problems in a neighborhood, which is related to (sub)level sets. The main result establishes that, under Slater constraint qualification, perturbations of the objective function are negligible when characterizing the calmness of the argmin mapping. This result also states that the calmness of the argmin mapping is equivalent to the calmness of the level set mapping.  相似文献
