Vinylidene chloride copolymers are prominent in the barrier plastic packaging industry. These materials display excellent barrier to the transport of oxygen (and other small molecules) as well as flavor and aroma molecules. However, they suffer from a propensity to undergo degradative dehydrochlorination at process temperatures. To scavenge hydrogen chloride formed and prevent its interaction with the metallic components of process equipment, a passive base is usually included as an additive prior to processing. The base is most often an inorganic oxide or salt. These may negatively impact the properties of the polymer, particularly as a film. An organic base that could be covalently incorporated into the copolymer might display better behavior. Accordingly, a series of copolymers containing low levels of 4-vinylpyridine (0.05–3 mole%) have been prepared, characterized, and examined by thermogravimetry to assess thermal stability. In all cases, polymers containing 4-vinylpyridine units are less stable than the polymer containing none of this comonomer. Clearly, the pyridine moiety is a sufficiently strong base to promote E2 elimination of hydrogen chloride to generate dichlormethylene units in the mainchain from which thermal degradation may be initiated.  相似文献

This paper examines the possibility of handling treatment effects as a fuzzy relational problem with particular reference to ophthalmology. An ophthalmological evaluation is considered to consist of two major stages. Firstly, an explanation of a patient's eye-health state in terms of known disease labels is formulated through diagnosis. Secondly, the effectiveness of a therapeutic strategy designed to restore a patient's normal eye-health, is then predicted via prognosis. The paper considers the latter aspect in the sense of assessing the effects of medical intervention by comparing pre- and post-therapeutic fuzzy subsets.  相似文献

A philosophical formalism of a new methodological aspect of humanistic systems design and evaluation is given. A requisite concept of context-dependency is highlighted, and some approaches to fuzzy sets and linguistics subsequently extended. It is consequently shown that a mathematical theory of pragmatic fuzzy subsets is not only conceptually possible but practically implementable in man-machine studies as well. Thus, the important context-dependent implication of the subjective nature of Zadeh's theory of fuzzy sets can be better exploited.As a pragmatic theory, the approach here is a seeming connection between pragmatism and ontology, concepts that are traditionally diametrically opposed to each other. The attitude adopted has been the equation of pragmatism and psychophysical measurements of ontological objects (noumena). Pragmatism is tacitly defined as a form of empiricism whereby linguistic constructs (i.e., linguistic-variable denotions) that represent any aspect(s) of a humanistic system are nothing more than an operational procedure used to achieve psychophysical measurements of the aspect(s). In this fashion, pragmatism would enable the contents of assertions, which are made through declarative propositions, about humanistic systems to be deciphered within relevant contexts. For pragmatism, direct sense experience provides both the meaning and the criterion of reality judgements. The context-dependent nature of the physical reality of ontological entities is, therefore, better understood pragmatically vis-a-vis the appropriate evaluative criteria and interpretative conventions.By emphasizing the distinction between a fuzzy system (naturally fuzzified) and a fuzzified mathematical structure (meta-mathematically fuzzified), the use of the standard fuzzy topologies is justified although it is conceptually possible to develop a yet more general topology or perhaps an alternative one especially in the case of a meta-mathematically fuzzified structure. However, for the express purpose of machine implementation, a naturally fuzzified system, such as a (complex) humanistic system, is more amenable to an initial test of the philosophy of pragmatic fuzzy subsets. Consequently, the fuzzy topology and spaces employed are intended to be devoid of extensive generalities, in this instance.  相似文献

The fumigant toxicity of Xylopia parviflora (A. Rich.) Benth (Annonaceae) root bark's essential oil (EO) against cowpea seed bruchid, Callosobruchus maculatus, was investigated in the laboratory. Dose had significant (P < 0.0001) effect on mortality at 6 hours after treatment (HAT) at a concentration of 6.25 μL/mL air which exerted 81.70% mortality, while there was no mortality in all other lower doses. At 12 HAT, 75.05% and 90.00% mortality were observed at doses of 3.15 and 6.25 μL/mL air, respectively. It was significantly (P < 0.05) higher than the mortality (50.58%) observed when 0.78 μL/mL air was applied. The lethal time for 50% of assayed adults (LT50) obtained when the bruchid was exposed to X. parviflora EO at a dose of 6.25 μL/mL air (2.71 h) was significantly lower than LT50 obtained at exposure of bruchid to other lower doses of 0.78–3.15 μL/mL air.  相似文献

Chalcone and 4-methoxychalcone react with chlorosulfonic acid to give chalcone-p-sulfonyl chloride and 4-methoxchalcone-3-sulfonyl chloride respectively. The sulfonyl chlorides were converted into 13 sulfonyl derivatives by reaction with nucleophiles. With hydrazine and phenylhydrazine the chalconesulfonyl chlorides were cyclised to the corresponding hydrazinopyrazolines. In contrast, with N,N-dimethyl-hydrazine only the dimethylsulfonohydmides were obtained, and no attack on the carbonyl group was observed. Possible reasons for this difference in behaviour are discussed, together with spectroscopic evidence for the structures proposed.  相似文献

There have been numerous attempts to theoretically design a better photovoltaic property with much interest on how to improved absorption and emission parameters of most reactive compounds in respect to dye – sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). This is regardless of the promising futures of the photovoltaic properties. However, for such effective design, it is necessary to understand the electronic and photophysical properties of the dye systems. Herein detailed density functional theory (DFT) and time – dependent DFT (TD-DFT) investigation of the excited state characteristics and the influence of various solvents: water, acetone, ethanol and chloroform on the photophysical properties of enalapril and lisinopril were investigated along with the experimental spectral (UV–vis and FT-IR) analysis. The electronic structure calculations were conducted using the 6–311++G(d,p) basis set in combination with B3LYP, M06-2X, and ?B97XD DFT functionals for the structural benchmarking investigations of the studied compounds. Results of the excitation electronic analysis of enalapril was observed to have wavelength absorption in the order gas > chloroform > ethanol > water which correspond to 229.19, 228.81, 228.85, 229.03 nm respectively while Lisinopril have the order of chloroform > gas > water > ethanol which present ethanol have the highest transition energy. In all the studied structured, the transition assignment corresponds to π π* all corresponding to the Frank -Condon local excitation. It can be inferred from the photovoltaic properties that among the studied compounds in four different phases enalapril have the highest oscillator strength, but the values of light-harvesting efficiency (LHE) varies and show greater stability in Lisinopril. Lisinopril was observed to have the highest value of VOC compared to Enalapril this further confirmed the result obtained from the frontier molecular orbitals.  相似文献

The results of the numerical simulation of the performance characteristics of (Cu2ZnSnS4) CZTS thin film solar cell due to bandgap grading is presented in this work. The investigation of the performance of this solar cell was carried out using the Analysis of Microelectronics and Photonics software (AMPS-1D). A substrate cell structure FTO/CdS/CZTS/Mo(SLG) was used as the base model. An efficiency of 8.33% was obtained from the simulation with baseline parameters while an intentional grading of the device was carried out on the device both at the front and back interface of the absorber. Front grading was observed to degrade the device performance while significant improvement of the device performance was observed with back grading. An intentional double grading of the device further enhanced the efficiency up to 12.26%.  相似文献
