The structure of luteone ($\text{1}$), a twenty three carbon terpenoid, has been solved by performing a single crystal x-ray analysis on a 3,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone derivative.     

The isolation of new norcycloartene triterpenoids from the tropical marine alga Tydemaniaexpeditionitis (chlorophyta)

Three new Δ³-norcycloartene triterpenoids, with differing side chain functionalities, have been isolated from the tropical green alga $\text{Tydemania}$$\text{expeditionitis}$ collected in Guam. The structures of these new compounds were secured by x-ray crystallography and by chemical interconversion.     

Synthesis of 1-oxa-2-silacyclopentane derivatives via intramolecular nucleophilic attack at silicon

Metalation of (HSiMe₂)₃CH with lithium diisopropylamide (LDA) in THF gives (HSiMe₂)₃CLi, which reacts with ethylene oxide, propylene oxide, 1,2-epoxy butane, 1,2-epoxy pentane, 1,2-epoxy hexane, and epichlorohydrin to give the corresponding 1-oxa-2-silacyclopentane derivatives. Then, glycidylmethacrylate (GM) random copolymers with styrene (St) (in a 1:1 and 1:3 mol ratio) were synthesized by solution free radical polymerization at 70(±1) °C using α,α′-azobis(isobutyronitrile) (AIBN) as an initiator. Both types of copolymers were treated with (HSiMe₂)₃CLi to give new modified copolymers. The reaction of (HSiMe₂)₃CLi with epoxides on the side chains of the copolymers does not lead to intramolecular nucleophilic attack contrary to simple epoxides. All the products have been characterized by spectroscopic techniques.     

Sensing of Trace Amounts of Dodecyl Benzene Sulfonate by Solid Phase Spectrophotometry

A very simple, selective and sensitive spectrophotometric method for the determination of dodecyl benzene sulfonate (DBS) has been investigated. In this method, the ion pair of DBS and methylene blue was adsorbed onto plasticized poly(vinylchloride) membrane as a solid phase extraction medium. The absorbance of the blue membrane was measured at 660nm against a blank membrane using a spectrophotometer. The influence of type and amount of plasticizer, pH, concentration of methylene blue, temperature of sample solution and time of extraction on the absorbance of membrane was studied. Linear calibration was obtained over a concentration range of 0.1 to 6.5µgmL^–1 of DBS. The method was applied to the determination of DBS in different commercial detergents. The precision and accuracy of the method is comparable with the conventional standard method. This method is cost-effective, and the use of organic solvent such as chloroform is completely eliminated.

PEG–SO3H as a mild, efficient and green catalytic system for the synthesis of pyrazole derivatives in aqueous medium

A versatile, alternative and environmentally benign strategy for the synthesis of a series of pyrazoles has been successfully performed in water using PEG–SO₃H as an acidic catalyst. The products are obtained in high yield from the one-pot reaction procedure involving dicarbonyl compounds and hydrazines/hydrazides. This new method totally avoids the use of organic acids and toxic or expensive solvents in this reaction. The catalyst is waste-free, easily prepared, and efficiently re-used.     

Thiamine hydrochloride as a promoter for the efficient and green synthesis of 12-aryl-8,9,10,12 tetrahydrobenzoxanthene-11-one derivatives in aqueous micellar medium

An environmentally benign, three-component, one-pot integrated chemical process has been developed for the synthesis of 12-aryl-8,9,10,12-tetrahydrobenzoxanthene-11-one by nucleophilic addition reaction between aldehyde and β-naphthol followed by Michael addition of dimedone, catalyzed by thiamine hydrochloride in aqueous micellar medium with excellent yield. Simple reaction conditions, no requirement of chromatographic separation, short reaction time, ease of isolation, use of inexpensive, easily recoverable and reusable catalyst makes this protocol very interesting from an economic and environmental perspective.     

Boric acid in aqueous micellar medium: an effective and recyclable catalytic system for the synthesis of aryl-7,8-dihydro[1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-a]pyrimidine-6-carbonitriles

A simple, green, and efficient protocol is reported for the preparation of aryl-7,8-dihydro[1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-a]-pyrimidine-6-carbonitriles through one-pot multi component reaction using substituted aromatic aldehydes, malononitrile, and 3-amino[1,2,4]triazole. The reaction is catalyzed by boric acid in aqueous micellar condition. Present protocol incorporates environmentally non-hazardous reaction condition, easy work-up, and use of recyclable catalytic system with associated benefits like excellent yield (84–96%) and shorter reaction time (20 min). Proposed methodology offers rapid access to substituted aryl-7,8-dihydro[1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-a]pyrimidine-6-carbonitriles with high atom-economy and catalytic efficiency.

Solving TSP by considering processing time: Meta-heuristics and fuzzy approaches

In this paper, general properties of traveling salesman problem has been illustrated, then a model has been introduced to minimize Make-span (time interval which all of jobs will be done) with considering sequence-dependence setup times and processing time. Furthermore, fuzzy sets and its characteristics are applied to a Hard-solvable traveling salesman problem with considering processing times. As it can be seen, traveling salesman problems are NP-hard, so solving problem in huge dimensions is uncontrollably manageable and in other side these kinds of problems in real-world are unavoidable, so a local search can prove their importance. (However this Meta-heuristic methods may not reveal exact optimal solution, but they yield a near-exact optimal solution in undeniable reduced computational time). Here, some of most famous local searches have been explained in their common and normal form, which are Genetic Algorithm (GA), Tabu Search (TS), Simulated Annealing (SA), Ant Colony System (ACO). In rest, a comprehensive comparison through these methods has been shown. This normality in methods structure could help the article to hold no-side-taken and acceptable judgments. In final, point methods analysis and parameter tuning are held.
