In this communication, we report the synthesis of small‐sized (<10 nm), water‐soluble, magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) coated with polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS), which contain either polyethylene glycol (PEG) or octa(tetramethylammonium) (OctaTMA) as functional groups. The POSS‐coated MNPs exhibit superparamagnetic behavior with saturation magnetic moments (51–53 emu g?1) comparable to silica‐coated MNPs. They also provide good colloidal stability at different pH and salt concentrations, and low cytotoxicity to MCF‐7 human breast epithelial cells. The relaxivity data and magnetic resonance (MR) phantom images demonstrate the potential application of these MNPs in bioimaging.  相似文献

In the title compound, catena‐poly[lithium‐μ3‐ethyl­ene­diphos­phon­ato], [Li(C2H7O6P2)]n, the supra­molecular monoclinic (C2/c) structure consists of one‐dimensional lithium chains [Li⋯Li = 2.7036 (8) Å] that are embedded within ethyl­ene­diphosphon­ate anions linked by strong symmetric hydrogen bonds [O⋯O = 2.473 (3) Å]. The Li atoms and the H atom in the symmetric hydrogen bond reside on twofold rotation axes and there is an inversion center at the mid‐point of the C—C bond of the ethylenediphosphonate ligand.  相似文献

Polybenzoxazine (PBZZ) thin films can be fabricated by the plasma‐polymerization technique with, as the energy source, plasmas of argon, oxygen, or hydrogen atoms and ions. When benzoxazine (BZZ) films are polymerized through the use of high‐energy argon atoms, electronegative oxygen atoms, or excited hydrogen atoms, the PBZZ films that form possess different properties and morphologies in their surfaces. High‐energy argon atoms provide a thermodynamic factor to initiate the ring‐opening polymerization of BZZ and result in the polymer surface having a grid‐like structure. The ring‐opening polymerization of the BZZ film that is initiated by cationic species such as oxygen atoms in plasma, is propagated around nodule structures to form the PBZZ. The excited hydrogen atom plasma initiates both polymerization and decomposition reactions simultaneously in the BZZ film and results in the formation of a porous structure on the PBZZ surface. We evaluated the surface energies of the PBZZ films polymerized by the action of these three plasmas by measuring the contact angles of diiodomethane and water droplets. The surface roughness of the films range from 0.5 to 26 nm, depending on the type of carrier gas and the plasma‐polymerization time. By estimating changes in thickness, we found that the PBZZ film synthesized by the oxygen plasma‐polymerization process undergoes the slowest rate of etching in CF4 plasma. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Superlattices have been demonstrated previously by our group in the design of the multicolor infrared photodetector. In general, the period number of the superlattice may be up to several dozens. In this paper, we have investigated the performance of the infrared photodetectors especially with 3, 5 and 15 periods. The detector structure contains a thick blocking barrier embedded between two superlattices with different period numbers but with the same well and barrier widths. This double-superlattice structure shows switchable spectral responses between two spectral regions by the voltage polarities. The photoresponse in each spectral region is also tunable by the magnitude of the applied voltage. The voltage-dependent behavior reveals the photoelectron relaxation and transport mechanism in the superlattice miniband. Superlattice with few periods has high electron group velocity, less relaxation effect and less collection efficiency. Therefore the superlattice with few periods may have better responsivity and narrower photoresponse range than the one with many periods. Based on the experimental results of our devices, it is observed that the superlattice with fewer periods has better detectivity, responsivity, wider range of the operational temperature, and more flexible miniband engineering than the conventional multiple quantum well infrared photodetector.  相似文献

Currently, self-organized magnetic array (SOMA) is a non-oriented media, with randomly distributed easy axis directions. We investigate the recording performance of SOMA under two different head types—Ring Head (RH) and single pole head (SPH). Our results show an interesting dependence of the recorded transition pattern on the field strength of RH, where a weak RH field generates longitudinal transition pattern and a strong RH field generates a perpendicular transition pattern in the media. The SPH only generates perpendicular transition patterns and has a higher signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) than that of the RH.  相似文献

A series of new liquid crystalline homopolymers, copolymers, and block copolymers were polymerized from styrene‐macroinitiator ( SMi ) and methacrylates with pendent 4,4′‐bis(biphenyl)fluorene ( M1 ) and biphenyl‐4‐ylfluorene ( M2 ) groups through atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). The number‐average molecular weights (Mn) of polymers P1 ‐ P4 were 10,007, 14,852, 6,275, and 10,463 g mol?1 with polydispersity indices values of 1.21, 1.15, 1.31, and 1.22, respectively. All polymers exhibit the nematic phase. The thermal, mesogenic, and photoluminescent properties of all polymers were investigated. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We have synthesized edge-oriented MoS2 nanosheets by the evaporation of a single source precursor based on Mo(IV)-tetrakis(diethylaminodithiocarbomato). The surface chemistry of the MoS2 nanosheets has been studied in order to evaluate the chemical reactivities of the basal planes and edges. By irradiating the MoS2 nanosheet with a scanning infrared laser, micron-scale lithographical structures can be created due to laser-induced oxidation of MoS2 to form nanocrystalline MoO3. Preferential reactivities of the MoS2 basal edges in an electrochemical environment and during vapor phase deposition have been demonstrated. Functionalization of the basal plane with 1-pyrene acetic acid allows the immobilization of DNA and immunoglobins on the MoS2 basal plane.  相似文献

Conductivity of cadmium acetate over the concentration range of 10?4 to 10?3M was measured at 25°C. The approximate dissociation constant of CdAc2 in dilute aqueous solution was estimated from the relation, α=[Λ?36.5+39√C(1+2α)]/[57.9?93√C(1+2α)]. The limiting value of log10K for the association constant of CdAc+ ion was evaluated to be 1.75 at 25°C.  相似文献

Reactions of Al(III) at the interface between SiO2(s) and aqueous solution were characteristically and quantitatively studied using electrophoretic methods and applying a surface complexation/precipitation model (SCM/SPM). The surface and bulk properties of Al(III)/SiO2 suspensions were determined as functions of pH and initial Al(III) concentration. Simulated modeling results indicate that the SCM, accounting for the adsorption mechanism, predicts sorption data for low surface coverage only reasonably well. Al(III) hydrolysis and surface hydroxide precipitation must be invoked as the Al(III) concentration and/or pH progressively increase. Accordingly, the three processes in the Al(III) sorption continuum, from adsorption through hydrolysis to surface precipitation, could be identified by the divergence between the SCM/SPM predictions and the experimental data. SiO2(s) suspensions with low Al(III) concentrations (1 x 10(-4) and 1 x 10(-5) M) exhibit electrophoretic behavior similar to that of a pure SiO2(s) system. In Al(III)/SiO2 systems with high Al concentrations of 1 x 10(-3), 5 x 10(-3) and 1 x 10(-2) M, three charge reversals (CR) are observed, separately representing, in order of increasing pH, the point of zero charge (PZC) on the SiO2 substrate (CR1), the onset of the surface precipitation of Al hydroxide (CR2), and at a high pH, the PZC of the Al(OH)3 coating (CR3). Furthermore, in the 1 x 10(-3) M Al(III)/SiO2(s) system, CR2 is consistent with the modeling results of SCM/SPM and provides evidence that Al(III) forms a surface precipitate on SiO2(s) at pH above 4. SiO2(s) dissolution was slightly inhibited when Al(III) was adsorbed onto the surface of SiO2(s), as compared to the dissolution that occurs in a pure SiO2(s) suspension system. Al hydroxide surface precipitation dramatically reduced the dissolution of SiO2(s) because the Al hydroxide passive film inhibited the corrosion of the SiO2(s) surface by OH- ions.  相似文献
