Copper-catalyzed domino reaction of carbodiimides and benzoic acid derivatives for the synthesis of quinazolinediones

Quinazolinediones were obtained from 2-iodobenzoic acids and carbodiimide derivatives under mild reaction conditions via a copper-catalyzed domino reaction. The absence of an external base was essential to avoid the generation of amide by-products. Both alkyl- and aryl-substituted carbodiimides gave the corresponding quinazolinediones. However, the use of aryl-substituted carbodiimides resulted in low yields due to an undesired elimination process.     

Blennolide derivatives from the soil-derived fungus Trichoderma asperellum PSU-PSF14

Three new blennolide derivatives, blennolides L-N (1–3), together with five known metabolites were isolated from the soil-derived fungus Trichoderma asperellum PSU-PSF14. Their structures were determined by analysis of spectroscopic data. Their relative configurations were determined by analysis of NOEDIFF data and confirmed by X-ray crystallography for compound 1 whereas the absolute configurations were established by means of experimental and calculated TDDFT ECD data. Compound 1 displayed antifungal activity against Cryptococcus neoformans ATCC90112 and ATCC90113 flucytosine-resistant with the MIC values of 128 and 64?μg/mL, respectively, and was inactive against noncancerous Vero cell lines.     

A new cyclic borazine species B(8)(NH)(4)(NMe(2))(8) containing a twelve-membered B(8)N(4) ring

The reaction between B(2)(NMe(2))(4) and two equivalents of [NH(4)][PF(6)] in thf at room temperature affords the new cyclic borazine B(8)(NH)(4)(NMe(2))(8) containing a non-planar twelve-membered ring with alternating B(2)(NMe(2))(2) and NH units.     

Indole-benzodiazepine-2,5-dione derivatives from a soil fungus Aspergillus sp. PSU-RSPG185

Six new indole-benzodiazepine-2,5-dione derivatives, asperdiazapinones A–F (1–6), together with three known prenylated indole alkaloids were isolated from the mycelial extract of the soil fungus Aspergillus sp. PSU-RSPG185. Their structures were established by spectroscopic evidence. For compounds 2 and 5, the structures were confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction crystallography. Asperdiazapine B (2) displayed weak antimalarial and noncytotoxic activities.     

The oxidative conversion of the N,S-bridged complexes [{RhLL'(μ-X)}2] to [(RhLL')3)(μ-X)2]+ (X = mt or taz): a comparison with the oxidation of N,N-bridged analogues

The structures of [{RhLL'(μ-X)}(2)] [LL' = cod, (CO)(2), (CO)(PPh(3)) or {P(OPh)(3)}(2); X = mt or taz], prepared from [{RhLL'(μ-Cl)}(2)] and HX in the presence of NEt(3), depend on the auxiliary ligands LL'. The head-to-tail arrangement of the two N,S-bridges is accompanied by a rhodium-eclipsed conformation for the majority but the most hindered complex, [{Rh[P(OPh)(3)](2)(μ-taz)}(2)], uniquely adopts a sulfur-eclipsed structure. The least hindered complex, [{Rh(CO)(2)(μ-mt)}(2)], shows intermolecular stacking of mt rings in the solid state. The complexes [{RhLL'(μ-X)}(2)] are chemically oxidised to trinuclear cations, [(RhLL')(3)(μ-X)(2)](+), most probably via reaction of one molecule of the dimer, in the sulfur-eclipsed form, with the fragment [RhLL'](+) formed by oxidative cleavage of a second.
