Hochschild cohomology of Möbius algebras

The additive structure of the Hochschild cohomology ring for a Möbius algebra is described. We use the structure of the bimodule minimal projective resolution of the algebra, constructed in a previous paper. Bibliography: 4 titles.     

Electromagnetic dissociation of relativistic 8B nuclei in nuclear track emulsion

Experimental data on fragmentation channels in peripheral interactions of ⁸B nuclei in nuclear track emulsions are presented. A detailed analysis made it possible to justify selections of events of the electromagnetic-dissociation process ⁸B → ⁷Be + p and to estimate its cross section. Events of ¹⁰C peripheral dissociation that were observed in the same exposure are described.     

Peripheral fragmentation of 8B nuclei in nuclear emulsion at an energy of 1.2 GeV per nucleon

The results obtained by studying the charge topology of fragments produced in the peripheral dissociation of relativistic ⁸B nuclei in emulsion are presented. Fifty-five events of the peripheral dissociation of a ⁸B nucleus in events where there was no production of target-nucleus fragments and mesons (“white stars”) were selected. A leading contribution of the ⁸B → ⁷Be + p mode, which has the lowest energy threshold, was revealed on the basis of these events. Information about the branching ratios for dissociation modes characterized by a higher multiplicity was obtained. The dissociation of the ⁷Be core in ⁸B bears resemblance to the dissociation of a free ⁷Be nucleus. The transverse-momentum distributions of fragments originating from the ⁸B → ⁷Be + p dissociation mode were obtained. For these distributions, a small mean value of 〈P*_T〉 = 52 ± 5 MeV/c in the c.m. frame suggests a low binding energy of the outer proton in the ⁸B nucleus. An indication of a strong azimuthal correlation of the fragments ⁷Be and p was found.     

Synthesis of oligo-2′-<Emphasis Type="Italic">O</Emphasis>-methylribonucleotides containing α-amino acid residues in 2′-position

Oligo-2′-O-methylribonucleotides containing residues of phenylalanine, histidine, and lysine amides were synthesized with the use of new phosphoramidites of 2′-aminoacid derivatives of uridine. Three-dimensional structure of laccase from Coriolus zonatus at 2.6 Å resolution

Laccase (oxygen oxidoreductase, EC 1.14.18.1) belongs to the copper-containing oxidases. This enzyme catalyzes reduction of molecular oxygen by different organic and inorganic compounds to water without the formation of hydrogen peroxide. The three-dimensional structure of native laccase from Coriolus zonatus was solved and refined at 2.6 Å resolution (R _factor = 21.23%, R _free = 23.82%, rms deviations for the bond lengths and bond angles are 0.008 Å and 1.19°, respectively). The primary structure of the polypeptide chain and the architecture of the active site were refined. The carbohydrate component of the enzyme was identified. The access and exit water channels providing the access of molecular oxygen to the active site and release of water, which is the reduction product of molecular oxygen, from the protein molecule were found in the structure.

Estimation of the effect of relative humidity on protein crystallization

The effect of relative humidity in a crystallization box on the rate of establishment of supersaturation conditions during protein crystallization by diffusion of solvent vapors is estimated. A modified crystallization box is designed, which provides the formation of a stable air flow with a specified relative humidity and its measurement directly in the closed space between a drop and a reservoir. The range of relative humidities necessary to obtain the supersaturation conditions in a drop with a protein crystallization solution is determined.

Features of the 9Be → 2He fragmentation in an emulsion for an energy of 1.2 GeV per nucleon

The results of investigation of the fragmentation of relativistic nuclei ⁹Be in an emulsion, which is accompanied by the formation of two 1.2-A-GeV He fragments, are presented. The angular measurements of the ⁹Be → 2He events are analyzed. The ⁹Be → ⁸Be + n fragmentation channel with the decay of ⁸Be from the ground (0⁺) and first excited (2⁺) states into a pair of α particles appears to be dominant.
