The accumulation of pathological prion protein is used as a diagnostic marker for transmissible spongiform encephalopathies. According to European Union (EU) regulations cattle older than 30 months of age (Germany, France, Italy, and Spain by national law >24 months) and slaughtered for human consumption must be tested by using rapid tests for bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE). Likewise fallen stock and clinically affected animals must be tested. This article gives a short overview of the incidence of BSE in Europe. The diagnostic hierarchy, i.e., the officially approved methodology for the confirmation of suspect rapid test cases, and the organization of the numerous laboratories involved in this large-scale testing for BSE are described. Special emphasis is given to necessary quality control measures currently in place for BSE rapid testing laboratories and to measures intended to assure a consistent performance of the commercially available rapid test kits.Presented at BERM-9—Ninth International Symposium on Biological and Environmental Reference Materials, 15–19 June 2003, Berlin, Germany.  相似文献

Summary The influence of different preparation conditions and substrate surface orientations on the superconducting properties of thin YBa2Cu3O7–x (YBCO) films on silicon was studied. Comparative electrical and surface spectroscopic measurements were performed. SAM and SIMS depth profile analysis show an enrichment of barium at the interface between the superconductor and silicon for samples with Tc<76 K. Comparison with XPS data obtained for thin silicon films on YBCO indicates the formation of barium and yttrium silicates at the interface under these conditions.  相似文献

The title compound (H2DTMSP[EBP]), C14H36O6P2Si2, was crystallized by the slow evaporation of a solution in a 20:1 mixture of pentane and acetone. The H2DTMSP[EBP] mole­cule lies about an inversion center. In the solid state, the mol­ecule exists in an anti configuration, with the mol­ecular backbone C—C bond located on an inversion center. The compound exists in the solid state as hydrogen‐bonded infinite sheets in the ab plane, unlike the methyl­ene analogue, which exists as hydrogen‐bonded infinite chains, demonstrating an `even–odd' effect of the length of the backbone alkyl chain.  相似文献

The first fully operational mid-IR (3–5 μm) 256×256 IR-FPA camera system based on a type-II InAs/GaSb short-period superlattice showing an excellent noise equivalent temperature difference below 10 mK and a very uniform performance has been realized. We report on the development and fabrication of the detecor chip, i.e., epitaxy, processing technology and electro-optical characterization of fully integrated InAs/GaSb superlattice focal plane arrays. While the superlattice design employed for the first demonstrator camera yielded a quantum efficiency around 30%, a superlattice structure grown with a thicker active layer and an optimized V/III BEP ratio during growth of the InAs layers exhibits a significant increase in quantum efficiency. Quantitative responsivity measurements reveal a quantum efficiency of about 60% for InAs/GaSb superlattice focal plane arrays after implementing this design improvement. Functional central limit theorems for triangular arrays of rowwise independent stochastic processes are established by a method replacing tail probabilities by expectations throughout. The main tool is a maximal inequality based on a preliminary version proved by P. Gaenssler and Th. Schlumprecht. Its essential refinement used here is achieved by an additional inequality due to M. Ledoux and M. Talagrand. The entropy condition emerging in our theorems was introduced by K. S. Alexander, whose functional central limit theorem for so-calledmeasure-like processeswill be also regained. Applications concern, in particular, so-calledrandom measure processeswhich include function-indexed empirical processes and partial-sum processes (with random or fixed locations). In this context, we obtain generalizations of results due to K. S. Alexander, M. A. Arcones, P. Gaenssler, and K. Ziegler. Further examples include nonparametric regression and intensity estimation for spatial Poisson processes.  相似文献

Working in a softly broken supersymmetricSU(2)×U(1) standard model with the photino as lightest SUSY-particle \((m_{\bar \gamma } \leqq 10GeV)\) differential and total rates for the decay \(Z^0 \to l^ + l^ - \tilde \gamma \tilde \gamma \) as functions of various parameters of the model are presented. The decay involves intermediate scalar leptons and the total rate strongly depends on their masses. The results indicate that for a scalar lepton mass less than 70GeV this process might still be seen at SLC and CERN LEP I.  相似文献
