Ab initio and anion photoelectron studies of Rhn (n = 1 − 9) clusters

We present an analysis of Na-He collisional profiles at high density and very low temperature in a unified line shape semi-classical theory which contains the impact as well the quasistatic limits. Clearly understanding the variation of shape of the two fine-structure components of the 3s?3p line with increasing helium density allows us to understand experimental spectra of a Na atom attached to He nanodroplets. We compare our collisional approach to path integral Monte Carlo calculations using the same ab initio Na-He molecular potentials.     

Access to the Bis‐benzene Cobalt(I) Sandwich Cation and its Derivatives: Synthons for a “Naked” Cobalt(I) Source?

The synthesis and structural characterization of the hitherto unknown parent Co(bz)₂⁺ (bz=benzene) complex and several of its derivatives are described. Their synthesis starts either from a CoCO₅⁺ salt, or directly from Co₂(CO)₈ and a Ag⁺ salt. Stability and solubility of these complexes was achieved by using the weakly coordinating anions (WCAs) [Al(OR^F)₄]^? and [F{Al(OR^F)₃}₂]^? {R^F=C(CF₃)₃} and the solvent ortho‐difluorobenzene (o‐DFB). The magnetic properties of Co(bz)₂⁺ were measured and compared in the condensed and gas phases. The weakly bound Co(o‐dfb)₂⁺ salts are of particular interest for the preparation of further Co^I salts, for example, the structurally characterized low‐coordinate 12 valence electron Co(P^tBu₃)₂⁺ and Co(NHC)₂⁺ salts.     

RESTRICTED LIE ALGEBRAS WITH MAXIMAL 0-PIM

In this paper it is shown that the projective cover of the trivial irreducible module of a finite-dimensional solvable restricted Lie algebra is induced from the one dimensional trivial module of a maximal torus. As a consequence, the number of the isomorphism classes of irreducible modules with a fixed p-character for a finite-dimensional solvable restricted Lie algebra L is bounded above by p ^MT(L), where MT(L) denotes the maximal dimension of a torus in L. Finally, it is proved that in characteristic p > 3 the projective cover of the trivial irreducible L-module is induced from the one-dimensional trivial module of a torus of maximal dimension, only if L is solvable.     

Differential non-destructive image current detection in a fourier transform quadrupole ion trap

Dual-detector differential non-destructive Fourier transform detection in a quadrupole ion trap is shown to improve signal intensity and reduce noise compared with spectra recorded using a single detector. A larger area detector in each end-cap electrode is machined to fit its hyperbolic shape and so minimize field imperfections on the z-axis. Argon, acetophenone and bromobenzene spectra were recorded to allow a comparison between single- and dual-detector (differential) modes of detection and to demonstrate the improvement achieved with differential detection.
