Derived Brackets

We survey the many instances of derived bracket construction in differential geometry, Lie algebroid and Courant algebroid theories, and their properties. We recall and compare the constructions of Buttin and of Vinogradov, and we prove that the Vinogradov bracket is the skew-symmetrization of a derived bracket. Odd (resp., even) Poisson brackets on supermanifolds are derived brackets of canonical even (resp., odd) Poisson brackets on their cotangent bundle (resp., parity-reversed cotangent bundle). Lie algebras have analogous properties, and the theory of Lie algebroids unifies the results valid for manifolds on the one hand, and for Lie algebras on the other. We outline the role of derived brackets in the theory of Poisson structures with background'.

Synthesis and antifolate activity of 8,10-dideazaminopterin

A synthesis of 8,10-dideazaminopterin, using 2,4-diamino-6-bromomethyl-8-deazapteridine ( 2 ) as a key intermediate, is described. Condensation of the triphenylphosphinylide derived from 2 with p-formylbenzoyl-L-glutamate afforded a 9,10-dehydro-8,10-dideazaminopterin ester intermediate 5 . Hydrogenation of the olefinic linkage and subsequent hydrolysis of the glutamate ester gave the title compound. 8,10-Dideazaminopterin was a potent growth inhibitor of folate dependent bacteria. It was 16 times more potent then methotrexate as an inhibitor of dihydrofolate reductase derived from L1210 leukemia cells, and showed strong activity against L1210 in mice.     

Synthesis of benzothiazoles via ipso substitution of ortho-methoxythiobenzamides

An efficient route to the synthesis of benzothiazoles from ortho-methoxythiobenzamides via the ipso substitution of an aromatic methoxy group is presented, and the mechanism of the Jacobson synthesis of benzothiazoles is further investigated.     

Synthesis of 9-methyl-1H-[1,4]thiazino[3,2-g]quinoline-2,5,10(3H)-trione, the B,C,D ring core of the shermilamine alkaloids

Synthesis of 9-methyl-1H-[1,4]thiazino[3,2-g]quinoline-2,5,10(3H)-trione (4), from N-(4-bromo-2,5-dimethoxyphenyl)acetamide (23) is described. Oxidative cyclisation of 2,2'-disulfanediylbis[N-(2,5-dimethoxyphenyl)acetamide] (19) to 5,8-dimethoxy-2H-1,4-benzothiazin-3(4H)-one (7b) is also reported.     

Encapsulation of porphyrins and chlorins in biodegradable nanoparticles: the effect of dye lipophilicity on the extravasation and the photothrombic activity. A comparative study

In the present work, we performed a preclinical inter-comparison study using several photosensitizers with the goal of optimizing photodynamic therapy (PDT) for the treatment of choroidal neovascularization (CNV) associated with age-related macular degeneration. The tested molecules were the porphyrins meso-tetraphenylporphyrin (TPP) and meso-tetra-(4-carboxyphenyl)-porphyrin (TCPP), and the chlorins pheophorbide-a (Pheo-a) and chlorin e(6) (Ce(6)). Each of these molecules was entrapped in biodegradable nanoparticles (NP) based on poly(d,l-lactic acid). The influence of the degree of lipophilicity on the incorporation efficiency of the drug in the NPs, and on the dye leakage from blood vessels as well as on the photothrombic efficiency was investigated using the chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) as in vivo model. NP characterization showed that the dye was more effectively entrapped in the polymeric matrix when its degree of lipophilicity increased. While less lipophilic compounds (TCPP, Ce(6)) extravasate rather easily, the more lipophilic dyes (TPP, Pheo-a) tend to remain inside the blood vessels. After injection of a drug dose of 1 mg/kg body weight and a drug-light application interval of 1 min, irradiation with light doses ranging from 5 to 20 J/cm(2) led to the highest photothrombic efficiency when using the NPs loaded with the most lipophilic molecule (TPP). The latter induced vascular damage, which was significantly higher than that observed with the other molecules tested. Thus, in addition to minimal leakage from blood vessels, the TPP in NP formulation exhibited photothrombic efficiency similar to Visudyne which was also tested in the CAM model.

An original one-pot ayntheais of 4,7-diazaindoles is achieved by metalation of methylpyrazines or methylquinoxaline wich are then condensed with an aromatic nitrile: an intermediate imine-enamine is formed which leads, by intramolecular cyclization, to diazaindoles.     

Action d'organolithiens sur la méthyl-2 quinoxaline. Etude de la réactivité des adduits

The action of organolithium reagents such as phenyllithium or n-bulyllithium on 2-methylquinoxaline gave lithiation of the methyl group which upon reaction with electtropholesphiles produce side chain alkenyl derivatives. On the other hand organolithium reagents react with the quinoxaline azomethine bond to give I-lithio-2-alkyl)or ary-1)-3 methylquinoxalines which can be further loithiated on the methyl group to give 2-alkyl(or aryl)-3-alkenylquinoxaline derivatives. The adducts can be condensed with clectrophiles such as benzonitrile or methlyl benzoate but only methyl benzoate leads to N condensed derivatives. Furthermore substituted 1,2,3,4-terahydroqinoxalines are available via the above lithio intermediates.     

Regioselective uncatalysed hydrophosphination of alkenes: a facile route to P-alkylated phosphine derivatives

The synthesis of alkylarylphosphines is easily carried out by hydrophosphination of unactivated alkenes under mild thermal activation; gram scale amounts of products can be prepared by this simple methodology.     

Synthèse de dérivés de la benzo[c] quinolizine

The introduction of polar groups in planar polycyclic systems, for the purpose of studying their intercalating action, has been realized in the benzo[c]quinolizinium series. A functionalizing synthesis has been developed from 2-picolyl-and quinaldyllithium. Intermediate ketones or imines were cyclized by a quaternization reaction involving a concerted process. Structure and physico-chemical features of the compounds prepared were studied.
