The effect of grinding on the physical properties and pharmaceutical performance of solid dispersions made of poly(ethylene) glycol 6000 (PEG6000) and temazepam or diazepam was studied using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), X-ray powder diffraction and dissolution experiments. DSC-analysis of flash-cooled dispersions revealed that amorphous PEG present immediately after grinding crystallised upon aging mainly into the twice folded modification and to a small extent into the extended form. DSC-analysis of dispersions kept in the slab form for 1 month and subsequently ground, revealed that in the abscence of the grinding impulse crystallisation of PEG6000 takes place in the same way as in dispersions ground immediately after preparation and then aged for 1 month. Grinding solid dispersions immediately after preparation resulted in superior dissolution properties compared with solid dispersions kept in the monolith-slab form and subsequently ground. This difference in dissolution properties was found to be attributed to the drug and not to the polymer, more precisely, it was suggested that the drug particle size in ground dispersions was smaller than in dispersions kept in the slab form and subsequently ground. These findings suggest that grinding of solid dispersions immediately after preparation is the preparation method of choice instead of liquid filling of hard gelatin capsules resulting in monoliths. In a previous work we experimentally tested some neutron self-shielding calculations methods for thermal absorbers, from which the semi-empirical “sigmoid method” gave the most accurate results. In this work we aim at evaluating the accuracy of this method on the epithermal self-shielding phenomena as compared to the analytical “MatSSF method”. Metallic foils of Zr and Mo were compactly stacked together into small cylinders (or disks) of different thickness, allowing for up to 20 % epithermal self-shielding when irradiated on two channels of the BR1 reactor. A 2 % relative difference between calculated and experimental self-shielding factors was obtained from the MatSSF method when a perpendicular source-sample axial configuration was assumed, while the isotropic or the co-axial configuration alternatives gave up to 10 % relative differences. On the other hand, the sigmoid method gave relative differences of up to 6 % that can be reduced to just 2 % by applying the “effective” epithermal absorption cross-sections for 98Mo and 96Zr proposed in this work.  相似文献

The optical and redox properties of a series of 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene oligomers (EDOTn, n=1-4) and their beta,beta'-unsubstituted analogues (Tn, n=1-4) are described. Both series are end capped with phenyl groups to prevent irreversible alpha-coupling reactions during oxidative doping. Absorption and fluorescence spectra of both series reveal a significantly higher degree of intrachain conformational order in the EDOTn oligomers. Oxidation potentials (E(PA1) and E(PA2)) determined by cyclic voltammetry reveal that those of EDOTn are significantly lower than the corresponding Tn oligomers as a consequence of the electron-donating 3,4-ethylenedioxy substitution. Linear fits of E(PA1) and E(PA2) versus the reciprocal number of double bonds reveal significantly steeper slopes for the EDOTn than for the Tn oligomers. This could indicate a more effective conjugation for the EDOTn series, confirmed by the fact that coalescence of E(PA1) and E(PA2) is reached already at relatively short chain lengths ( approximately 5 EDOT units) in contrast to the Tn series (>10 thiophene units). The stepwise chemical oxidation of the EDOTn and Tn oligomers in solution was carried out to obtain radical cations and dications. The energies of the optical transitions of the radical cations and dications as determined by UV/Vis/NIR spectroscopy were similar for the two series. These spectroscopic observations are consistent with quantum-chemical calculations performed on the singly charged molecules. Cooling solutions containing T2.+, T3.+, EDOT2.+, and EDOT3.+ revealed the reversible formation of dimers, albeit with a somewhat different tendency, expressed in the values for the dimerization enthalpy.  相似文献

Reactor channel characterization is commonly performed by irradiating bare and cadmium-covered “fluence rate monitors”, avoiding as much as possible the use of irradiation vials and spacers to position the monitors inside the channel. However, in routine k 0 -Neutron Activation Analysis often samples are packed in small polyethylene vials prior to irradiation. This work aims at studying the impact of typical NAA polyethylene vials (~1 mm wall thickness) on the determination of the f and α channel-specific parameters through the “Bare”, “Cadmium-Covered” and “Cadmium-Ratio” methods. The impact of these vials on each method was studied for 3 irradiation channels of the Belgian Reactor 1 at SCK·CEN (Mol, Belgium) with low to high f and α-values. The net impact was 1% on each parameter. Inconsistencies between the different methods were found when the impact of the polyethylene was neglected, implying that all determination methods must be pooled and thin monitors should be used for an accurate channel characterization.  相似文献

This work investigates the impact of various processing parameters on the leakage current of in situ P-doped Si1−xCx embedded source/drain (S/D) junctions, i.e., the carbon content x (%) and the thermal budget used either before or after the selective epitaxial deposition. It is shown that while the area leakage current density, generated by defects in the depletion region is not affected by the epitaxial process or the strain in the substrate, the perimeter leakage current density (JP) increases with x. From the stronger reverse bias dependence of JP, it is derived that a higher electric field exists along the junction periphery. This is confirmed by capacitance-voltage (C-V) measurements, demonstrating a higher p-well B doping density for increasing x. It is believed that this originates from the strain dependence of the B diffusivity in the p-well region. No evidence of electrically active extended defect formation was found, so it is expected that the off-state current of embedded Si1−xCx S/D nMOSFETs will not be adversely affected by the selective epitaxial deposition.  相似文献

A recent study on trace elements in beauty products and cosmetics sold on the Asian market has shown the presence of high levels of U, Th and rare earth elements in so called “Hormesis cosmetics.” For the purpose of comparison, some more information about trace elements in European cosmetics would be useful. In this paper the results obtained using k 0-standardised Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis (k 0-INAA) for more than 20 trace elements in 20 different beauty products collected from the European market are presented. We found traces of Ba, As and Sb which is in breach with European legislation. For some of the other elements like Cr and Co further speciation is needed in order to evaluate their presence in beauty products.  相似文献

Instrumental photon activation analysis can be used advantageously for the homogeneity control and the determination of uranium concentration in minerals and ores to be certified as uranium reference materials. The homogeneity control of high contents of uranium can also be performed by passive gamma-ray spectrometry with high energy resolution. Interferences of237U characteristic lines with gamma-rays from other radionuclides produced in the 44 MeV bremsstrahlung are evaluated.  相似文献
