Homopolymerizations and copolymerizations of perfluorovinyl acetic acid (FVA) and its methyl ester (MFVA) were carried out by γ radiation at a temperature of 25°C, a dose rate of 1 × 106 rad/hr, and FVA/α-olefin and MFVA/α-olefin ratios of 10/90-90/10 in the monomer mixture. FVA and MFVA gave small quantities of brown and greasy low-molecular-weight homopolymers. The polymerization rates of both FVA and MFVA were extremely small, as shown by the maximum G value of monomer consumption of 12. FVA and MFVA reacted with α-olefin to form waxlike copolymers. The copolymerization rates of both FVA and MFVA with α-olefin were remarkably larger than those of the homopolymerizations, particularly with ethylene. The polymer compositions of FVA/ethylene or MFVA/ethylene was nearly 1/2 over a wide range of the monomer compositions. The Mayo–Lewis method gave negative r1 (FVA) and r1 (MFVA). The polymer composition curves could be well interpreted by introducing the penultimate model.  相似文献

The heterogeneous polymerization of ethylene initiated by radiation in tert-butyl alcohol was studied. The polymerization was carried out in a 100-ml reactor at 25–100°C and pressures of 200–300 kg/cm2 in the presence of 50 ml of tert-butyl alcohol containing 7 wt-% water. The amounts of polymerized monomer, the average molecular weight of polymer formed, and the molecular weight distribution of polymer were measured at various stages of reaction and at various temperatures. The molecular weight distribution was found to be very much dependent on the reaction time and temperature. For the polymer formed at 50–60°C in the very early stages of reaction, the molecular weight distribution is unimodal, and in the intermediate stage a shoulder appears at a molecular weight higher than the first peak which increases as the polymerization proceeds; eventually a bimodal curve is formed. The bimodal distribution curves were analyzed to determine the fractions and average molecular weights of the each peak. On the basis of these data for the molecular weight distribution and kinetic behavior, a new scheme for the heterogeneous polymerization is proposed which indicates that the polymerization proceeds via propagating radicals in two different physical states, namely, loose and rigid states.  相似文献

The radiation-induced emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization of tetrafluoroethylene was carried out at an initial pressure of 2–25 kg/cm2, temperature of 30–110°C, and under a dose rate of 0.57 × 104?3.0 × 104 rad/hr. The rate of polymerization was shown to be proportional to 1.0 and 1.3 powers of the dose rate and initial pressure, respectively, and is maximal at about 70°C. The molecular weight of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) lies in the range of 105?106, increases with reaction time in the early stage of polymerization, and is maximal at 70°C but is almost independent of the dose rate. An interesting discovery is that PTFE, a hydrophobic polymer, forms as a stable latex in the absence of emulsifier. When PTFE latex coagulates during polymerization under certain conditions, the polymerization rate decreases, probably because polymerization proceeds mainly on the polymer particle surface. The observed rate acceleration and successive increase in polymer molecular weight may be due to slow termination of propagating radicals in the rigid PTFE particles.  相似文献

The dependence of the dose rate on the rate of radiation-induced polymerization of ethylene in tert-butyl alcohol containing 5 vol-% water was studied. The reaction was carried out by use of a reactor with a capacity of 100 ml under the following conditions: pressure, 200 kg/cm2; temperature, 24 ± 3°C; dose rate, 3.7 × 104?1.6 × 105 rad/hr; amount of medium, 70 ml. The dose rate exponents for rate of the polymerization, the molecular weight, and the number of polymer chain were found to be about 0.8, ?0.1, and 0.9, respectively. These results were well explained with kinetic results (obtained by a novel analytical method) for the polymerization which contain both first-order and second-order terminations for the concentrations of propagating radical. The individual values of the rate constants in each elementary reaction were also obtained.  相似文献

Radiation-induced terpolymerizations of methyl α,β,β-trifluoroacrylate (MTFA) with tetrafluoroethylene (TFE) and α-olefins, such as ethylene, propylene, and isobutylene, were carried out in bulk at 25°C for the purpose of controlling the content of ester group in the MTFA-α-olefin alternating copolymers. These monomers polymerized to form alternating terpolymers which contained 50 mole % α-olefin in a wide range of monomer composition. The content of MTFA, namely, the ester group in polymer, can be varied without destruction of the alternating structures between fluoroolefins (MTFA, TFE) and α-olefin by changing the MTFA/TFE ratio in the monomer mixture. The relative reactivities of MTFA and TFE in the terpolymerization were discussed according to kinetic treatments by free propagating and complex mechanisms. The relation between the MTFA/TFE ratio in the monomer mixture and that in terpolymer was explained favourbly by the complex mechanism. It was also concluded that the relative reactivity of MTFA is larger than that of TFE in the terpolymerizations.  相似文献

Simultaneous formation of hydrofluoric acid (HF) in the radiation-induced polymerization of tetrafluoroethylene (TFE) was investigated. HF concentration in PTFE latex was determined mainly by conductometric titration with 0.01 and 0.001N NaOH. The amount of HF formed is almost independent of agitation speed and the amount of n-hexadecane added and is maximal at ca. 70°C corresponding to the rate of polymerization. The rate of HF formation increases with the initial pressure of TFE monomer and dose rate and decreases with polymerization or TFE consumption. This fact suggests that HF is formed mainly by TFE reactions and not by the degradation of PTFE. The mechanism of HF formation in this reaction system in the absence of oxygen is shown in the following two schemes: scheme I is the reaction of TFE with primary radicals (OH·, H·, e) from the radiolysis of water; scheme II is the reaction of water with the species from the radiolysis of TFE. On the assumption that HF is formed only according to scheme I, the G value of HF formation G(HF)calc can be calculated as 11.25. All observed G values G(HF)obs are larger than G(HF)calc. When the polymerization is carried out at 20 kg/cm2 under various dose rates, G(HF)obs increases with the dose rate. When the polymerization is carried out at 3.0 × 104 rad/hr under various pressures, G(HF)obs decreases with the decrease in pressure from 20 to 2 kg/cm2 and is fairly close to G(HG)calc at 2 kg/cm2. This indicates that HF formation is due mainly to scheme II at high pressure (in the presence of enough TFE) and to scheme I as the pressure is lowered.  相似文献

Two‐component relativistic density functional theory (DFT) with the second‐order Douglas–Kroll–Hess (DKH2) one‐electron Hamiltonian was applied to the calculation of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) shielding constant. Large basis set dependence was observed in the shielding constant of Xe atom. The DKH2‐DFT‐calculated shielding constants of I and Xe in HI, I2, CuI, AgI, and XeF2 agree well with those obtained by the four‐component relativistic theory and experiments. The Au NMR shielding constant in AuF is extremely more positive than in AuCl, AuBr, and AuI, as reported recently. This extremely positive shielding constant arises from the much larger Fermi contact (FC) term of AuF than in others. Interestingly, the absolute values of the paramagnetic and the FC terms are considerably larger in CuF and AuF than in others. The large paramagnetic term of AuF arises from the large d‐components in the Au dπ –F pπ and Au sdσ–F pσ molecular orbitals (MOs). The large FC term in AuF arises from the small energy difference between the Au sdσ + F pσ and Au sdσ–F pσ MOs. The second‐order magnetically relativistic effect, which is the effect of DKH2 magnetic operator, is important even in CuF. This effect considerably improves the overestimation of the spin‐orbit effect calculated by the Breit–Pauli magnetic operator. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Recently, the molecular electronic structure theories for efficiently treating static (or strong) correlation in a black-box manner have attracted much attention. In these theories, a spin projection operator is used to recover the spin symmetry of a broken-symmetry Slater determinant. Very recently, Pons Viver proposed the practical and exact implementation of Löwdin's spin projection operator (Int. J. Quantum Chem. 2019, 119, e25770). In the present study, we attempt to supply mathematical proofs to Pons Viver's proposals and show a condition for establishing Pons Viver's implementation. Moreover, we explicitly derive the (spin projected) extended Hartree-Fock (EHF) equations on the basis of the model of common orbitals (ie, closed-shell orbitals used in the restricted open-shell Hartree-Fock (ROHF) method), which was combined by Pons Viver with the EHF method.  相似文献

Isotropic and anisotropic magnetizabilities for noble gas atoms and a series of singlet and triplet molecules were calculated using the second‐order Douglas‐Kroll‐Hess (DKH2) Hamiltonian containing the vector potential A and in part using second‐order generalized unrestricted Møller‐Plesset (GUMP2) theory. The DKH2 Hamiltonian was resolved into three parts (spin‐free terms, spin‐dependent terms, and magnetic perturbation terms), and the magnetizabilities were decomposed into diamagnetic and paramagnetic terms to investigate the relativistic and electron‐correlation effects in detail. For Ne, Kr, and Xe, the calculated magnetizabilities approached the experimental values, once relativistic and electron‐correlation effects were included. For the IF molecule, the magnetizability was strongly affected by the spin‐orbit interaction, and the total relativistic contribution amounted to 22%. For group 17, 16, 15, and 14 hydrides, the calculated relativistic effects were small (less than 3%), and trends were observed in relativistic and electron‐correlation effects across groups and periods. The magnetizability anisotropies of triplet molecules were generally larger than those of similar singlet molecules. The so‐called relativistic‐correlation interference for the magnetizabilities computed using the relativistic GUMP2 method can be neglected for the molecules evaluated, with exception of triplet SbH. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. C2v-symmetrical cyclic tetramers of aromatic amides were simply synthesized in moderate yield by condensation reaction of N,N′-dimethyl-1,3-phenylenediamine and isophthalic acid derivatives using dichlorotriphenylphosphorane. The calix[4]amides exist in 1,3-alternate structure with cis conformation of tertiary aromatic amides, which were shown to be a versatile scaffold leading to a bowl-shaped macrocyclic compound possessing a anomalously strained structure, a bent hinge angle between two aromatic ring planes of biphenyl moiety, via an intramolecular ligation reaction.  相似文献
