Efficient regioselective aldol condensation of methyl ketones promoted by organoaluminum compounds,and its application to muscone synthesis

Regioselective aldol condensation of 2-octanone and 2-butanone at the methyl side proceeded in high yields using a system of dialkylaluminum phenoxide/tertiary amine. The intramolecular aldol condensation of 2,15-hexadecanedione was carried out by the same system, especially di-i-butylaluminum phenoxide/pyridine, to give dehydromuscone in 65% yield. Its hydrogenation afforded muscone (3-methylcyclopentadecanone).     

E.p.r. spectra and bonding parameters of copper(ii) complexes of 2-methyl-4,6-diacylphenols,of the dibenzoyl analogues and of some of their derivatives

Summary The e.p.r. spectra of mononuclear copper(II) complexes of 2-methyl-4,6-diacylphenols and dibenzoylphenols, and their condensation products with 1,3-diaminopropane have been examined. The MO coefficients evaluated from e.p.r. spectral parameters indicate that the in-plane-, in-plane- and out-of-plane- bondings are significantly covalent. The e.p.r. spectra of the macrocyclic dicopper(II) complexes derived from 2-methyl-4,6-diacyl(benzoyl)phenols and 1,3-diaminopropane measured at 77 K reveal the presence of mononuclear species of axial symmetry.

A new synthetic method for functionally substituted β-trimethylsilyl-α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds from 1-methoxy-3-phenylthio-3-trimethylsilyl-1-propene is described.     

Synthesis of Benzopyran-4-Amides Potassium Channel Openers Via Palladium-Catalyzed Amidation

The novel potassium channel openers benzopyran-4-amides have been synthesized via palladium-catalyzed amidation of 4-bromobenzopyrans under an atmoshere in the presence of an equivalent of potassium iodide.     

Electrochemical Synthesis of Thienoacene Derivatives: Transition-Metal-Free Dehydrogenative C−S Coupling Promoted by a Halogen Mediator

The first electrochemical dehydrogenative C−S bond formation leading to thienoacene derivatives is described. Several thienoacene derivatives were synthesized by dehydrogenative C−H/S−H coupling. The addition of ⁿBu₄NBr, which catalytically promoted the reaction as a halogen mediator, was essential.     

A new synthetic method for α-ketosilanes employing methoxy(phenylthio)trialkylsilylmethane as an α-silylacyl anion equivalent

Development of a new synthetic method for α-ketosilanes can be achieved by a sequence of alkylation of methoxy(phenylthio)trialkylsilylmethane and oxidation with NaIO₄.     

Palladium-catalyzed rearrangement of α-cyanoallylic acetates application to a new synthetic method for furans

Various types of α-cyanoallylic acetates were undergone the palladium-catalyzed rearrangement to give the γ-acetoxy-α,β-unsaturated nitriles in high yields. These rearranged acetates were conveniently transformed into the furan derivatives often encountered in natural products by the reduction using diisobutylaluminum hydride.     

System identification based on distribution theory and wavelet transform

A review of system identification based on distribution theory is given. By the Schwartz kernel theorem, to every continuous linear system there corresponds a unique distribution, called kernel distribution. Formulae using wavelet transform to access time--frequency information of kernel distributions are deduced. A new wavelet-based system identification method for health monitoring systems is proposed as an application of a discretized formula using stationary wavelet transform.     

Recent topics in enantioselective acyl transfer reactions with dialkylaminopyridine-based nucleophilic catalysts

This digest focuses on recent topics in intra- and intermolecular enantioselective acyl transfer reactions with dialkylaminopyridine-based catalysts over the past decade (2007–2017). The structures of the catalysts are divided into four categories according to the location of the chiral environment (C2, C3, or C4 position of pyridine, and miscellaneous). The role of the structure in the enantioselective acyl transfer reaction and the reaction mechanism will be discussed briefly.
