Reactions of Polyfluorinated Telomeric Alcohols with ε-Caprolactam

The possibility of preparing fluorinated oligomeric derivatives of -aminocaproic acid by reaction of polyfluorinated telomeric alcohols H(CF₂CF₂) _n CH₂OH (n = 1-4) with -caprolactam under conditions of homogeneous catalysis (triethylamine, dimethylformamide) was examined. The thermal stability of the oligomers was studied in relation to the fluorine content.     

Radical Grafting of Octafluoropentyl Acrylate to a Polycaproamide Thread

Grafting of octafluoropentyl acrylate to polycaproamide PCA-6 in the presence of tert-butyl hydroperoxide containing 0.87-1.33% fluorine was studied. The specific feature of radical grafting of the polyfluorinated acrylate is participation of terminal groups of PCA-6 macromolecules.     

Stabilizing effect of 1,1,5-trihydroperfluoropentanol on photochemical degradation of polycaproamide

The effect of fluorinated alcohols on the photochemical degradation of polycaproamide was studied. It was shown that, even when a small amount (0.035 wt %) of 1,1,5-trihydroperfluoropentanol is added, the rate of photodegradation of polyamide fibers decreases. Electron microscopic examination showed that, in the presence of the fluorinated alcohol, the test fibers are characterized by a reduced number of defects. The simultaneous introduction of microquantities of 1,1,5-trihydroperfluoropentanol and N,N-bis(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidinyl) 1,3-benzenedicarbamide is responsible for the synergistic photostabilizing effect.

Catalytic oligomerization and hydrolytic polymerization of ?-caprolactam in the presence of the system 1,1,5-trihydroperfluoropentanol-acetic acid was studied.     

Catalytic synthesis of N-benzoyl (N-nitrobenzoyl) derivatives of ɛ-aminocaproic acid oligomers

The synthesis of N-benzoyl [N-(m-nitrobenzoyl)] derivatives of ?-aminocaproic acid oligomers by the reaction of ?-caprolactam with benzoic (nitrobenzoic) acid in the presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid as catalyst was studied.     

Effect of 1,1,5-trihydroperfluoropentanol on the structure of unoriented poly(ɛ-caproamide) films

A change in the X-ray patterns of unoriented poly(?-caproamide) films cast from poly(?-caproamide) solutions in formic acid in the presence of 1,1,5-trihydroperfluoropentanol has been examined. It has been shown that the polyfluorinated alcohol increases the proportion of polymer molecules in the planar trans conformation owing to their transition from the gauche conformation constituting the amorphous phase and facilitates formation of hydrogen-bonded layers of macromolecules oriented perpendicular to the film plane.
