Synthesis,characterization and antioxidant,antibacterial activity Zn2+, Cu2+, Ni2+ and Co2+, complexes of ligand [2-(thiophen-2-yl)-1-(thiophen-2-ylmethyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole]

New metal complexes of (Zn(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II)) based on the ligand 2-(thiophen-2-yl)-1-(thiophen-2-ylmethyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole] were synthesized, whose structures were determined with the different spectroscopic techniques ¹H NMR,¹³C NMR, FT-IR, UV–Visible and by mass spectrometry. The thermal analysis was performed by TG-DTA. The antioxidant activity of the ligand and its complexes was evaluated by DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method, in comparison with the synthetic antioxidant, ascorbic acid. The results obtained showed that the antioxidant activity of the ligand and its complexes is moderate and that the copper complex has a high activity that exceeds that of ascorbic acid. Antimicrobial activity of the ligand and its metal complexes was studied against two Gram-positive bacteria: Bacillus subtilis ILP1428B, Staphylococcus aureus CIP543154 and two Gram-negative bacteria: Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC27653, Escherichia coli CIP5412 (American Type Culture Collection)the activity data show that the metal complexes are more potent than the free ligand.

A Semidefinite Programming approach for solving Multiobjective Linear Programming

Several algorithms are available in the literature for finding the entire set of Pareto-optimal solutions of Multiobjective Linear Programmes (MOLPs). However, all of them are based on active-set methods (simplex-like approaches). We present a different method, based on a transformation of any MOLP into a unique lifted Semidefinite Program (SDP), the solutions of which encode the entire set of Pareto-optimal extreme point solutions of any MOLP. This SDP problem can be solved, among other algorithms, by interior point methods; thus unlike an active set-method, our method provides a new approach to find the set of Pareto-optimal solutions of MOLP.     

Revisiting several problems and algorithms in continuous location with \ell _\tau norms

This paper addresses the general continuous single facility location problems in finite dimension spaces under possibly different \(\ell _\tau \) norms, \(\tau \ge 1\) , in the demand points. We analyze the difficulty of this family of problems and revisit convergence properties of some well-known algorithms. The ultimate goal is to provide a common approach to solve the family of continuous \(\ell _\tau \) ordered median location problems Nickel and Puerto (Facility location: a unified approach, 2005) in dimension \(d\) (including of course the \(\ell _\tau \) minisum or Fermat-Weber location problem for any \(\tau \ge 1\) ). We prove that this approach has a polynomial worst case complexity for monotone lambda weights and can be also applied to constrained and even non-convex problems.
