Three new sesquiterpene alcohols, laur‐2‐ene‐3,12‐diol ( 1 ), cuparene‐3,12‐diol ( 2 ), and 8,11‐dihydro‐1‐methoxylaurokamuren‐12‐ol ( 3 ), along with one known diterpene, kahukuen‐10‐ol ( 4 ) have been isolated from the organic extract of the red alga Laurencia obtusa. The chemical structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analysis. The cytotoxicity of the isolated compounds were evaluated against three cancer cell lines, i.e., KB, HepG2, and MCF‐7. Compound 4 exhibited a wide range of cytotoxic activity against KB, HepG2, and MCF‐7 cell lines with IC50 of 0.100, 0.057, and 0.054 μm, respectively. In addition, 1 showed moderate activities towards KB and MCF‐7 cell lines with IC50 values of 0.171 and 0.184 μM , respectively and 2 exhibited a moderate activity against KB cell line at a concentration of 0.213 μg/ml. On the other hand, compound 3 exhibited no cytotoxic activity against any of the three cell lines.  相似文献

A modified spin-flip model is used to investigate the stability of optically-pumped quantum-dot spin-vertical cavity surface-emitting lasers. in terms of pump intensity and polarization. The stability maps exhibit pronounced polarization switching in the stable regions. Periodic oscillations in unstable regions are attributed to competition between spin relaxation and birefringence.  相似文献

This work presents a systematic evaluation of the influence of lipids and casein on the performance of a chromatographic capture step for the recovery of a target protein from transgenic milk. Lactoperoxidase (LPO) was spiked at concentrations typical of those to be expected for transgenic proteins in commercial bovine milk and the dynamic adsorption of LPO to fixed beds of SP Sepharose FF studied in frontal analysis experiments. By removing successively selected components from whole milk, their individual influence on the dynamic adsorption behaviour of LPO could be studied. A mathematical model, fitted to the breakthrough curves of LPO, provided a quantitative measure of parameters describing mass transfer and adsorption in the column. A significant reduction in column capacity for LPO in the presence of milk or whey was recorded, which could be attributed to competing adsorption of alkaline earth metal ions to the cation exchange resin. While the high concentrations of lipids present in whole milk did strongly reduce the column permeability, no significant influence of either casein or low concentrations of lipids on the hydraulic properties of columns or on the adsorption of LPO could be detected. The results indicate that chromatography, which forms an essential part of all current large-scale processes for the recovery of proteins from transgenic milk, could potentially be moved further upstream. Alternatively, existing operations for the removal of lipid and casein could be re-designed so as to maximise product yields. This suggests that significant product losses during current pre-chromatography milk purification could be reduced or potentially even avoided.  相似文献

A promising method for the production of germanium photonic crystals consists of electrodeposition of Ge from GeCl4‐containing ionic liquids inside templates of polystyrene colloidal crystals and subsequent removal of the template. This room‐temperature method gives rise to the fabrication of a three‐dimensional highly ordered macroporous germanium nanostructure (see picture; scale: 2 μm) as a prototype of a photonic crystal.

A teaching experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of journal writing on achievement in and attitudes toward mathematics. Achievement variables included conceptual understanding, procedural knowledge, problem solving, mathematics school achievement, and mathematical communication. Subjects were selected from first intermediate students (11–13 years) attending the International College, Beirut, Lebanon, where either English or French is the language of mathematics instruction. The journal-writing (JW) group received the same mathematics instruction as the no-journal-writing (NJW) group, except that the JW group engaged in prompted journal writing for 7 to 10 minutes at the end of each class period, three times a week, for 12 weeks. The NJW group engaged in exercises during the same period. The results of ANCOVA suggest that journal writing has a positive impact on conceptual understanding, procedural knowledge, and mathematical communication but not on problem solving, school mathematics achievement, and attitudes toward mathematics. Gender, language of instruction, mathematics achievement level, and writing achievement level failed to interact with journal writing. Student responses to a questionnaire indicated that students found journal writing to have both cognitive and affective benefits.  相似文献

To accurately characterize the large amplitude motions and soft degrees of freedom of isolated molecules, sampling their conformational landscape by molecular mechanics and quantum chemical calculations may provide a valuable insight into the structure and dynamics. However, the resulting models need to be validated by a reliable experimental counterpart. For ethyl pentanoates, which belong to the family of fruit esters, benchmark calculations at different levels of theory showed that the C−C bond in proximity to the ester carbonyl group exhibits a large amplitude motion that is extremely sensitive to the choice of quantum chemical method and basis set. In such cases, insights from high-resolution molecular jet techniques are ideal to accurately identify and characterize soft degrees of freedom. Here, we report on the most abundant conformer of ethyl 2-ethyl butyrate using Fourier-transform microwave spectroscopy. We show that – unlike other structurally related pentanoates for which gas-phase and crystallographic data is available – ethyl 2-ethyl butyrate possesses a Cs symmetry plane under molecular jet conditions.  相似文献

The electrochemical synthesis of gallium nanostructures in an ionic liquid is presented. Gallium nanowires and macroporous structures were synthesized by the template-assisted electrodeposition in the ionic liquid 1-butyl-1-methylpyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)amide ([Py(1,4)]TFSA) containing GaCl(3) as the precursor. Track-etched polycarbonate membranes with an average pore diameter of 90 nm and a thickness of 21 μm were used as templates for the nanowire synthesis. Ga nanowires with a length of more than 4 μm and an average diameter corresponding to that of the template's pores were easily obtained by this method. Macroporous structures with an average pore diameter of 600 nm were obtained by the electrochemical deposition of Ga inside polystyrene colloidal crystal templates and the subsequent removal of the template by THF. The macroporous deposit showed a granular morphology with smallest grain sizes of about 40 nm and light reflections. The nanostructures of Ga were characterized by HR-SEM and EDX analysis.  相似文献

N-Alkyl oxaziridines may be used as reagents for the oxidation of sulfides in acid-promoted reactions. This article reports on a simple and efficient synthesis of two new trichloromethyl substituted dihydroisoquinoline oxaziridines, a new family of organic oxidizing agents. Their oxygen transfer capability with respect to sulfides as model substrates and in the absence of acid is investigated.  相似文献

Bis{4‐[bis(4‐methoxyphenyl)amino]‐2,6‐bis(2,4,6‐triisopropylphenyl)phenyl}diphosphene ( 1 ), possessing two bis(4‐methoxyphenyl)amino groups as redox sites as well as electron‐donating sources, was synthesized and isolated as a red solid. The cyclic voltammogram of 1 at −78° consisted of three reversible redox waves corresponding to two‐step oxidation of the triarylamine moieties and reduction of the diphosphene moiety. Introduction of the two amino groups also contributed to a red shift of the absorption maximum in the UV/VIS spectrum, which was responsible for the intense red color of 1 .  相似文献
