Abstract

Toxicity of the pesticide carbofuran (CF) can be alleviated by curcumin, if not for its poor bioavailability. Hence, we investigated the effect of a bioavailable curcumin-galactomannan complex (CGM) on CF-induced neurotoxicity in rats in comparison to that of unformulated standard curcumin (CS). The CF (5?mg/kg b.wt/day) treatment for 90?days produced chronicity model which were treated with either CS or CGM (100?mg/kg b.wt and 250?mg/kg b.wt/day) for another 30?days. Improvement in CF-induced behaviour was evident in endurance, motor co-ordination and pain response on both CS (p?<?0.01) and CGM (p?<?0.001) supplementation. Amelioration of CF-induced toxicity parameters, oxidative stress, and mitochondrial dysfunction on CS (p?<?0.01) and CGM (p?<?0.001) supplementation was further confirmed by histopathology of brain and liver tissues. But, CGM was more effective in mitigating CF toxicity, with results comparable to that of normal. Hence, CGM might be superior in toxicity management against CF.  相似文献

A new algorithm for automatic detection and rating of squeak and rattle (S&R) events was developed. The algorithm utilizes the perceived transient loudness (PTL) that approximates the human perception of a transient noise. At first, instantaneous specific loudness time histories are calculated over 1-24 bark range by applying the analytic wavelet transform and Zwicker loudness transform to the recorded noise. Transient specific loudness time histories are then obtained by removing estimated contributions of the background noise from instantaneous specific loudness time histories. These transient specific loudness time histories are summed to obtain the transient loudness time history. Finally, the PTL time history is obtained by applying Glasberg and Moore temporal integration to the transient loudness time history. Detection of S&R events utilizes the PTL time history obtained by summing only 18-24 barks components to take advantage of high signal-to-noise ratio in the high frequency range. A S&R event is identified when the value of the PTL time history exceeds the detection threshold pre-determined by a jury test. The maximum value of the PTL time history is used for rating of S&R events. Another jury test showed that the method performs much better if the PTL time history obtained by summing all frequency components is used. Therefore, rating of S&R events utilizes this modified PTL time history. Two additional jury tests were conducted to validate the developed detection and rating methods. The algorithm developed in this work will enable automatic detection and rating of S&R events with good accuracy and minimum possibility of false alarm.  相似文献

Reaction of N-Boc amino acids with ceric ammonium nitrate in an alcohol as the solvent at room temperature resulted in the esterification of N-Boc amino acids with Boc group retention. When the reaction was conducted at reflux temperature, esterification was accompanied with simultaneous removal of the Boc group. Both reactions gave the desired products in good yields.  相似文献

4-Aminobenzonitrile derivatives have two excited states of similar energy: besides the benzene-like L(b) state (also termed "locally excited" or LE state) one with charge-transfer (CT) character that is slightly higher in the isolated molecules. The CT state can be lowered by solvents of suitable polarity, so that dual fluorescence can be observed in them. It is controversial along which coordinate this state is displaced, although the amino-group twist is a wide-spread assumption. We investigated a number of such compounds by transient ionization in the gas phase, initially exciting the higher-lying L(a) state (S(2)). Here we briefly review the previous results on 4-(dimethylamino)benzonitrile (the prototype of this class of molecules), 4-piperidino-, pyrrolidino- and pyrrolyl-benzonitrile and compare them with new results on 4-aminobenzonitrile and on the bridged derivative N-methyl-6-cyano-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline (NMC6). Although in the latter two molecules the CT state has never been detected before, we find the same relaxation path for all compounds: From S(2), the wave packet passes through a conical intersection (CI); from there part of it reaches the S(1) (L(b)) state directly, whereas another part temporarily populates the CT state (also in NMC6), from where it goes around the CI also to the L(b) well. The wave packet directly reaching the L(b) well oscillates there along coordinates involving amino-group twist and wagging or molecular arching and a quinoidal distortion. These coordinates must be components of the CI displacement vector. A vibration involving bond-length alternation of the benzene ring is ascribed to a momentum caused by the electronic symmetry change in the CI, i.e., to the nonadiabatic coupling vector. Also the CT state involves amino-group twist, as to conclude from the anisotropy of the corresponding signal. The six-membered aliphatic ring in NMC6 hinders the twist and raises the CT state to an energy that is, however, still below the L(a) state, so that it can be temporarily populated in a barrierless process. Also in aminobenzonitrile the CT state is between L(a) and L(b) and is reached from L(a) without a barrier. The twist is rationalized by vibronic interaction with a higher state that is pi-antibonding between the amino group and the aromatic ring.  相似文献

Metallographic investigation of the microstructure of sintered Thoria pellets necessitates appropriate surface preparation of these pellets. Conventional etching methods involving either chemical or thermal etching techniques being unsuitable for surface etching of irradiated Thoria fuel, laser-based surface treatment was envisaged as a potential alternative technique. Thoria pellets were subjected to laser surface treatment using a pulsed Nd:YAG laser.Our preliminary studies have successfully demonstrated laser etching of sintered Thoria pellets with good reproducibility, clearly revealing grain structures and well-defined grain boundaries. Detailed parametric investigations determining optimum laser parameters for the process, are presented. Our results on ultra-short laser-based etching of sintered Thoria pellets are also discussed.  相似文献

Two new sphingolipids, (2S,3S,4R)-1,3,4-trihydroxy-2-[((R)-2'-hydroxytetradecanoyl) amino] tricosane (4) and (2S,3S,4R)-1,3,4-triacetoxy-2-[((R)-2'-acetoxyoctadecanoyl) amino]octadecane (5) along with africanene (1, reasonably good yield), 23-demethylgargosterol (2) and batylalcohol (3) have been isolated from the soft coral Sinularia leptoclados. Preliminary studies for pharmacological activity (blind screening and toxicity studies) of africanene were conducted. Africanene exhibited in vitro and in vivo cytotoxicity, dose dependent hypotensive activity as well as antiinflammatory activity. The pharmacological and toxicity studies on africanene are being reported for the first time and findings strongly encourage further investigation. Compounds 1, 4 and 5 were studied for the antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral activity while compounds 4 and 5 were also studied for the short term in vitro cytotoxic activity.  相似文献
