Oxidizing of ferulic acid with the use of polyoxometalates as catalysts

The kinetics of catalytic oxidation for ferulic acid with polyoxometalates used as catalysts was studied. The effect of pH and concentrations of the principal reacting components on the process kinetics was studied. A kinetic scheme of oxidation is proposed, and the values of a number of kinetic parameters of the process are determined.     

Calculation of properties of ternary liquid mixtures on the basis of properties of binary solutions

Various methods of calculating properties of ternary systems using the properties of binary solutions have been analyzed on the basis of experimental and published data.     

An equation for the rate of a first-order gas-liquid reaction

An equation is suggested for describing the kinetics of gas-liquid reactions first order with respect to the dissolved gas without assumptions on the reaction control mode (kinetic, diffusion, etc.). The equation was obtained with the use of the film model of gas-liquid reactions.     

Numerical simulation of the kinetics of ozone decomposition in an aqueous solution

The kinetic scheme for ozone decomposition in an aqueous solution in a wide pH interval was proposed on the basis of the known literature data. The apparent first-order rate constant for ozone decomposition at pH 1–14 was calculated. Published in Russian in Izvestiya Akademii Nauk. Polarographic determination of alkaloids of the pyrrolizidine series in plant raw material

A polarographic method has been developed for the determination of platiphylline, sarracine, and seneciphylline in the epigeal part of the groundselSenecio platyphylloides at a dropping mercury electrode in 0.5 M tetraethylammonium iodide solution.     

Kinetics of the catalytic oxidation of model compounds of lignin with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of peroxidase from horse-radish

A kinetic scheme was suggested for the oxidation of guaiacol, ferulic acid, acetovanilon, and vanillyl alcohol with hydrogen peroxide. A number of kinetic parameters were determined.     

Change in the volume of orthophosphoric acid solutions in the neutralization with solutions of various bases

Volume changes in the reactions of orthophosphoric acid neutralization with solutions of NaOH, NH₄OH, and tris(hydroxymethyl)methanamine in the mixed solvent H₂O-dimethylformamide were studied by dilatometric titration. Volume effects of the reaction depending on the mixed solvent composition and base strength were discussed.
